Where did everything go so right?
>>
>>52186325
Are they going to release every race with heavy armor plated elite units?
First humans, then orcs, now this.

I would like to see it done for elves, but im getting a little tired of it
>>
NOT MUH DORFS
>>
>>52186441
The Fyreslayers were so naked they had to compensate for that.
>>
>>52186441
Probably wraith contruction clones
Also, it's not elite forces, regular duardins
>>
>>52186453
Calm down, regular Dorfs still live in Sigmar's basement.
>>
>>52186484
I really doubt these guys will be on the field in the same numbers as dispossessed

So far we have seen a regular infantry unit of 10 models (might be min5?) an elite unit of 5 models, a fast unit of 3 models, multiple heroes, and war zeppelins. It doesn't seem like an infantry heavy army to me. It is almost identical in structure to the ironjawz release:

Brutes (5)
'Ardboyz (10)
Gore-Gruntas (3)
2 Behemoth (Megaboss on Mawkrusha, Gordakk)
Various heroes

We have been hearing rumours about these dwarves since last march so it would make sense if they were designed around the same time but delayed the launch. This would explain why the release seems to have the same structure as the Ironjawz release.

A mini faction release seems like a step backwards from the great format of the Tzeentch and Stormcast releases earlier this year.
>>
What if GW was planning to bring back WFB as Warhammer:historical
>>
>>52186582
Why would they bring it back?

You can still play WHFB. Nobody is stopping you.
>>
So when GW squat all old armies, since they didn't match AoS models scale?
>>
>>52186641
If they were going to do that, they would have done it when they got rid of Brettonia and Tomb Kings.
>>
>>52186591
I tried asking this in wip but nobody answered. How big are crypt horrors compared to the boars orcs ride? Was thinking of making some boarmen beastmen.
>>
>>52186654
yeah, but look at size of new dwarves, they are at SM size. It's pretty obvious that AoS infantry much larger

Dead factions never truly die, they just sleep until the stars are right again. The stars were not right for Squats in 40k, but now in AoS the stars are now right and favorable, and so the Squats return.

>>52187033
Nigger, the entire point is that using super soldiers for lesser objectives is retarded. Space marines are used as elite shock troops to support the near infinite numbers of the IG. Say you have a group of grots sitting in a building. Do you send a group of expendable guardsmen or commit your expensive as fuck elite super soldiers to something far below them. Also,
>Like pre-HH space marines legions
They were hundreds of times the size of "modern" space marine chapters

>>52187139
>He means that they are deployed in other warzones.
Where they are losing against anyone (CSM, Nids, Orks etc)
>>
So how high chances that will make another Slambo-like release?
>>
>>52187174
And you missed my point again. The entire point of the guard is that they use their extreme numbers to overcome superior foes. In 40k fiction, you are usually only shown when shit absolutely has hit the fan. That is when space marines are called in, most of the time the guard or pdf manage to do their jobs just fine.
>>
>>52187220

They don't seem very speedy to me, they have balloons, not rockets.

I guess they are going to have something like deep strike, or they are going to be speedy for the dwarf standard, so around 8".

I doubt they are going to be much manoeuvrable as a faction.

They are probably going to be very hard, short/middle range shooty with deployment tricks but low speed.

Basically a ranged version of stormcast before the last book.

well once the setting had some element of conservatism and conforming to the character of the races. There's no character in any of these models, nothing new or exciting, just steampunk randomness which never suited Dwarfs. Empire was more steampunk than Dwarfs. At least other factions like Khorne stayed in character.

Also where's the tongue in cheek grimness? This is just immature and lame.

if you played dwarfs you'd understand that long time dwarf players are going to be disappointed. Many didn't like the new gyrocopters or irondrakes. This is like a fucking apocalypse for their hopes regarding AoS continuity. They've lost the aesthetic that drew those players 10-15 years ago. Can't imagine epic characters like Bugman, Gotrek or the white dwarf coming from this line.

Don't worry. I'm sure that Death will eventually get updates. I think the reason that Death has been ignored is because they have to refocus the GA away from summoning due to matched play.

Look at Tzeench. Pre GHB, their warscrolls had a bunch of effects that summoned units like horrors and spawn. Now, their new refocused battletome gave them a fresh new mechanic to play with instead.

tl;dr once GW figures out a fresh new focus for GA:Death, death will get new stuff. Stay strong bonebros.
>>
>>52188154
Dwarves were always supposed to have airships and amazing warmachines. They hever made it into models but can be seen in art and the books.
>>
>>52188011
I like the blue & silver one. Don't suppose anyone's shopped the skyboat into alternate schemes by any chance?
>>
>>52188154
They lost this aesthetic with the last release, which was absolute shit. Why would you expect GW to bring back the old dwarves with this release? Also dwarves are really the last race that needs to worry about their models, since everyone and their grandma does 28mm dwarves that fit the old aesthetic. I'm really into oldhammer and 6th edition stuff too, but AoS is simply neither the game nor the setting for it.
I can see the that the front looks a like chaos, but flat weapons are not slaanesh exclusive and the gatling guns really don't looke like wacky sakven stuff.
>>
>>52188169
nah we're talking maybe a third of the veteran players, old dwarf models still sell for the most on ebay and most old players have a few in their collection. Dwarfs are incredibly popular.
>>
>>52188194

>>
>>52188206

I think part of it could be the fact it's pretty hard to do a "death" theme without Vampires, Zombies, Ghosts, Ghouls, and Skeletons, which they already have.

But the previews / rumour engine stuff we've seen does have something that looks like Nagash, so the story might advance in the Realm of Death a bit more and add more Death units.
>>
Just what are these dwarves up to?

Not that guy but
>if you played dwarfs you'd understand that long time dwarf players are going to be disappointed.

>Many didn't like the new gyrocopters or irondrakes.
True, and fair. The new designs were a canon part of the army.
>This is like a fucking apocalypse for their hopes regarding AoS continuity. They've lost the aesthetic that drew those players 10-15 years ago.
I do not agree at all. The Fyreslayers and Kharadrons are their own separate factions. They are not replacing the old dwarfs at all, and so you cannot claim that they are ruining their aesthetic. Maybe GW will never update old dwarfs. That would be unfortunate, but they still exist in the mortal realms. They won't fade away just because they have some strange and distant wayward cousins.
>>
>>52188221
Just look at this shit. that fucking nozzle that looks like a fire hydrant, or a fucking shapeless shield, real superior geometric dwarf engineering... Not to mention the fucking block of stone above his head.

It's a joke, so presumably you are arguing that AoS is a parody setting? How do you work up any motivation for fluff or objectives when it's just a random shitfest? They've totally lost the plot on this one.

Can't really seem to find this answer anywhere regarding fluff:

If the world was destroyed by Chaos, and only Sigmar survived, how come literally all the races exists as usual and nothing changed after all?
>>
>>52188551

Chaos are weaklings and couldn't follow through.
>>
>>52188551
The world got destroyed and the survivors got displaced to realms. After thousands of years they evolved into the current factions.
>>
>>52188562
>and the survivors got displaced to realms.
Only their souls
>>
>>52188551
It's chaos, GW ain't gonna explain shit.

a more important question is who the fuck built the realmgates and what was dracothion doing while the old world and its draconic spawn on it was suffering.
>>
>>52188551
Chaos a shit. The incompetent morons couldn't even make something of their victory after they had already won.
>>
>>52188568
Nope.
>>
>>52188551
Some of them just survived for some reasons. It's shoehorning for the purpose of being able to play with the old models and I would just explained it with 'Chaos ain't gotta explain shit'. There are parts of AoS fluff you shouldn't think to much about right now...
>>
>>52188568
Nope, plenty of life survivors as well, mostly wizards stowed away in pocket dimensions and shit like that.
>>
>>52188573
Yeah but this was always known by lore theorists. If Chaos wins in any of the settings it essentially commits sepukku because Chaos can't exist without mortals.
>>
>>52188499
That's a dwarf? It looks like a monkey...
>>
>>52188581
>There are parts of AoS fluff you shouldn't think to much about right now...

pretty much everything about the setting as a wgole doesn't make sense.
factions are kinda isolated in terms of self-explanations.
>>
>>52188601
Yes. It's easier to imagine the new factions in the old world than the other way around imo, so in my head my games take place over there.
>>
>>52188551
Because while the world was destroyed by Chaos, it wasn't totally vapourised. Most of its landmass was consumed by Chaos instead, and a precious few small groups, villages, holds etc. managed to hold out in the Realm of Chaos (because that's what the Warp is called in Fantasy and is still called in AoS) long enough to break out once the Mortal Realms started manifesting in realspace. This includes the Incarnates, or at least those who were still alive when the Old World fell.

Sigmar isn't the only one who survived; all the Incarnates survived. Sigmar is just the only one who managed to cling to reality and not get sucked into the Realm of Chaos, which meant the Realm of Azyr didn't form centred on him when the Wind of Azyr coalesced.
>>
>>52188551
because GW are full of hack writers (see gathering storm, end times, most of BL) and couldn't give less of a shit about fluff, because books don't sell like models do.
>>
>>52188497
Sounds to me like you are going to be mad at most things GW puts out since they are unlikely to move back towards the old aesthetic anytime soon.
>>
How do I make a competitive Tzeentch Arcanite list?
>>
>>52188665
A new aesthetic isn't the problem, it's the designs that are totally shit. It's across the board so it's not like AoS is totally to blame, but GW has no character anymore and the old inspirations are gone. Maybe it's been a long time coming, an old dwindling fanbase is nothing compared to teh sales from kids which is essentially an eternal pot of money.

This is likely a case of your aesthetic tastes and the aesthetic tastes of GW's artists differing.

It could be that the artists who designed models you liked are no longer in the company. It could also be that the artists' styles and tastes have changed over the years.

In either case, it is unlikely that GW will put out models that would suit your tastes in the near future. There is nothing bad about liking the older designs more but saying that the new designs across the board are shit is a little extreme.

Plus being outnumbered in AoS isn't as much of a death sentence as it is in stuff like 40k, thanks to sudden death objectives.

But yeah, longbeards as a solid anchor for an army, especially since, due to some admittedly dodgy working on their warscroll, they can take great weapons and shields at the same time. But even if you don't do that, dwarven shields are digustingly good, and Longbeards hit hard enough that they're more than just a tarpit.

At best Dorne "ruled" Terra during the Siege, but that's it. Then he fucked off to the Iron Cage and stopped actually taking part in politics.

>turned him into a Mary Sue
Not exactly, he's shown to have plenty of doubts, hell he doesn't even want the job.

>Dodgy english

Hello Ivan, glad you could join us for yet another shitposting.

Nope

What do you mean nope
>>
>>52189078
lol all of the loyalists ones are literally
"some dude found this baby and that dude also happened to be the ruler of the planet , the baby was so awesome that they made him ruler after his adoptive fathers death, he was so kickass that he united the planet and everything was super good forever, then the emperor showed up and they went out partying for a few days, at the end a mayor bro hug was had and the emperor wished him well and gave him his very own army "
>>
am i the only one , who independently on whether you like the models or not, is bothered that these are more sci fi then fantasy?
>>
>>52189146
>Guiliman was and has always beeb the only Lord Commander of the Imperium.
Yeah and was killed right after Heresy.
>At best Dorne "ruled" Terra during the Siege, but that's it.
He create his own Empire before Emperor found him.
>Not exactly, he's shown to have plenty of doubts,
Yet still he is flawless and supported by everyone (including Chaos Gods, who didn't kill him first and sends Khrone rescue-team after he was captured).
>hell he doesn't even want the job.
Yet still he is more ideleastic than Dorn, more Saint and humane than Sanquinius, stronger than rest of primarchs, and unlike big E knew how to make perfect Ubermarines, since his geneseed best among the brothers (should I remind that befoire GS at least 3 legions had better geneseed than smurfs).

Yet still they all had a large flaws, shit a lot of them even died.

>Dorn also ruled empire before Emperor
dorne erected some nice looking sandbags in the sol system and organised a defence
girlyman reorganized the entire empire and the scouring
>since in the last book they turned him to ultimate MarrySue.
there where some mary sue moments in there for sure , him instantly turning the battle for macragge around by tactics alone and the writer calling him the most caring of primarchs certainly raised an eyebrow
however as another anon pointed out he is not without his flaws at all , i mean he almost falls mad to the whispering of that birdguy and would have certainly done so if the eldar and fallen hadn't saved him
>>
>>52189214
Theres no fucking way Dorn could rule the Imperium as it stands, he'd tear it apart with his own stubborn autism. Guilliman at least knows to shut his fucking mouth and get to work behind the scenes.

Corax, Russ, Sanguinius, Vulkan, Khan, Lion, Ferrus Manus say hi.

Guiliman, Mortarion, Perturabo and Dorne are the only ones whose parent were in position of power.

reeeeeeeee take 40k shit to the 40k thread reeeeeeee
>>
>>52189275
>Dorned ruled his own empire before he was found by Emperor
Yes but he couldnt rule the Imperium because of the political and religious climate. He'd tear the entire thing apart in a civil war because he refuses to back down like Rowboat did.

It doesnt fucking matter if he had his own little empire before he was found, not all empires are the same. Dorn is as politically skilled as a god damn potato. He can rule when the stars are aligned but they're not.
>>
>>52189298
>It doesnt fucking matter
>>he's the only primarch with the knowitall and self discipline to manage the empire
Yeah sure
>>
>>52189275
>Empire
It was a small ass system. Guiliman had the 500 pretty much done for.
Face it, Guiliman is litteraly the best choice to fix the Imperium. As it is, it has loads of secret weapons hidden and shit, so what it needs is not a warrior but someone to fix the administrative mess that makes us French look organised.
>>
>>52189332
>Guiliman is litteraly the best choice to fix the Imperium.
Not fluff-wise.
To bring Wardcarne in setting they literally made DeusExMachina
>>
>>52189324
No he's not, Guilliman has the same attributes, he just doesnt have the giant negative of pissing everybody off because he's as subtle as a clown with a chainsaw. Suck off Dorn all you want but his autism would destroy the Imperium if he was named its leader.
>>
>>52189357
So even among the primarchs Guilliman is special snowflake
>>
>>52189293
>implying AoS isn't 40k in magical space
>>
>>52189380
No he had his own flaws, mostly the fact that he could be a giant dick to people he didnt agree with. But being a giant dick is a lot better than Dorns bullshit.

Girlymans bit has always been 'he's the most levelheaded of the pricks we call Primarchs'. Figures since he's the only one that had anything resembling a normal life...
>>
>>52188011
>The one of the right.

POLAND DORF CAN INTO SPACE.
>>
>>52189439
>No he had his own flaws
Such as..?
>>
>>52189439
Wasn't Pertuabo (Iron Warriors Primarch) also raised like a normal guy and then became a jealous asshole?
>>
>>52189456
I just told you, he was a raging cunt when things got out of order. Its what led Alphy boy to fall to chaos. Girlyman just couldnt stand the Alpha Legion's methods and called them out all the damn time on it. He hated people that he felt didnt earn their place and would be all passive aggressive shit to them.

>>52189458
Perty was raised in a court of snakes by a tyrant who used him to murder his foes from a young age. His childhood taught him to be paranoid as fuck.
>>
>>52189483
>he was a raging cunt when things got out of order.
And he always was right by default.
>>
Tfw aos thread has more 40k than 40k thread
>>
>>52189458
the difference is that perty created a world of democracy, builders, artists etc
only for the emps to come along and go " screw all this shit i need warriors"
girly was an empire builder perty was a man of culture
>>52189275
Dorne would start a civil war against the echelsiarchy tearing the empire in half because he is principled to a fault
Dorne would lead a crusade straight into the the heart of the black crusade to try and sodomize abbadon instead of returning to terra to fix the giant mess that is 40k
>>
>>52189514
And hell him letting the high lords and the whole 'worshipping the emperor' thing stick around for now makes sense considering how damn pragmatic he was. He let a planet of hedonists who regularly engaged in the practice of slavery and slave fights stay the way it was before they arrived just as long as they swore loyalty.

And he was one of the first Primarchs to view the Emperor as a dick because, since he hero worshipped his Ultramar father, he didnt hero worship the Big E.
>>
>>52189547
>Dorne would start a civil war against the echelsiarchy tearing the empire in half because he is principled to a fault
Yeah because teachjing based on Book of Lorgar ren't good.
>Dorne would lead a crusade straight into the the heart of the black crusade to try and sodomize abbadon instead of returning to terra to fix the giant mess that is 40k
Except he didn't moved to Eye after Heresy.

i fucked up on the world bit
perturabo wanted to be a builder and an artist
no idea where i got the democracy from , probably because greek city states
point is girly got to do what he wanted perty didn't
>>
What's a good number of heroes, to battleline to behemoths/others ratio @ 1000 points?
>>
>>52189589
>Yeah because teachjing based on Book of Lorgar ren't good.
it's what keeps the imperium afloat at this point
>Except he didn't moved to Eye after Heresy.
no he just charged into battles while ridiculously outmatched time and time again untill he dissapeared/died
>>
>>52189645
depends on the army
if you're playing with skellies battlelines will take up significantly more than dwarves for example
>>
>>52189651
>it's what keeps the imperium afloat at this point
Yeah slowly rotting corpse.
>no he just charged into battles
Yeah just like Guilliman charged Fulgrim

See, this is why I hated AoS for so long. It's because they replace a world will dark humour and tongue-in-cheek wit with a bunch of boring-ass super fighting video game mooks who are the best at fighting and do nothing but fight other super fighting guys in various fighting locations, all played completely straight.

The airship dwarves are the first faction I've seen that interests me because they are, for the lack of better word, the most human. They're scrappy and imperfect, but they have personality. But most importantly, they actually look like they do stuff other than fighting other things.
>>
>>52189854
>for the lack of better word, the most human.
Nahj they among all new armies they are much closer to usual mortals
>>
>>52189698
Nurgle Mortals? Std is battleline heavy, rotbringers are hero heavy
>>
I agree that death is a hard alliance to make new material for, since they've covered the basics (skellies, vampires, etc) but I think death should get a rule similar to orks old looted gear. You can field any model as an undead version of itself provided you:

Have a necromancer there to keep it animated (maybe give necromancers mastery levels like 40k to denote how strong a creature they can bind) . For example: any necromancer can summon undead clanrats but only a powerful necromancer or unit of lesser could maintain an undead mawkrusha.

The undead unit would take a hit to its stats, lose all allegiance specific bonuses and be granted the keyword of the necromancer controlling it (such as death rattle or nighthaunt). The stat hits could be things like reduced health, worse to hits, worse save, shorter wounded tables etc.

What do you guys think?
