Tessagog and the Ou/tg/rounds Thread VI: Horror Wars edition

Here is what I have gathered for the 1st companion that Tessagog meets:

Vaynth Helbbruk the Mage

She wears Elesh Norn's mask and a big pointed witch's hat. She has a flowing/billowing dress on with some light plate armor pieces. She holds a long magical rod based on the Maiden in Black staff. Resting at her hip is a Chaos Sorcerer's spellbook. Her Elbow length Gloves/Knee high high heel Boots are a white color that matches her mask. The under layer of her dress and her collar are the same color as her flame of the end of her staff. She is an Elf with Dunmer colored skin and has purple colored hair. Her main style color choices should be purple.

Vaynth's personality is polite, but not to be messed with. She focuses on the Healing domain of magic but does have a good knowledge of basic magic.

The final party member to join Tessagog on her adventures was discussed last thread. Possibly named Julia. A pirate themed female rogue with an affinity towards explosions. Needs a big bust size (Smaller than Tessagog's) bare midriff and is deliciously brown.

The Horror Wars was an event in the Ou/tg/rounds where the party battled a Necromancer who opened the door leading to a different long forgotten dimension. Once he opened it a flood of eldritch horror beasts came into the Ou/tg/rounds causing panic and destruction. More details and discussion are needed on this topic.

So we are left with two bad possibilities:

Best case scenario, and still very bad: Tessagog people were wasting their breath arguing with Charlosers instead of continuing talking about their own character, to the point where that was all the thread became.

Worse case scenario: Tessagog friends weren't even interested in their own thread and Charlosers arguing between themselves were all the thread had to be alive.

Anyway, for Tessagog fans (also known as Tessafags), here's what you can do: Do more art, even if shitty art, make constant updates to the descriptions and post them to keep everyone new and everyone who missed a step up to date to what's the current state of affairs. Make art. Serious, even bad art. People's imaginations need to be seeded, and art helps a lot. Be polite between each other the most you can, be objective, dont be insistent and if anyone's being rude, ignore them. If it's not a troll, it's a rude person. None worth your time.

Write stories and include their pastebin in the original post. Refer to them often. Dont make vague mentions to thing said in previous thing. Even shitty writing is better than vague statements about something not stablished.

Make art (can stress this enoug). And make a PDF which someone or someones will try to keep organized and include all art made for Tessagog and her party, all info, etc. Post a link to it on every thread. This way a newcomer that wants to jump in the wagon can actually update themselves really quickly.

Oh, and try to reduce the number of dumb fetishes you guys include. It's not that she can't be fapbait, but the more niche and specific fetishes you include, the more people you alienate. Keep those for your personal stories and fanfics.

Truth be told, the problem here is the attempt to emulate what /co/ is doing without having the volume of material they have. There are half a dozen settings and a few hundred characters in /co/'s arsenal, in a wide variety of genres and styles. The only reason their threads work is because there's something for anyone, and /co/lette herself is rarely even one of those things.

What went wrong is that, at a time where it would've been crucial to build on the early momentum, the threads were instead ground to a dead halt by charlottefags. The Horror Wars were a series of events consisting of a dark summoner gathering ancient books giving him the details on how to rip open a gateway allowing the Great Ancient Beasts into our realm. The Dark Summoner goes by the name Nordens. He begins his summoning of the beasts by slaughtering multiple churches dedicated to this realms deities. Word finally gets out of the horrific leftovers Nordens leaves in his wake. Brutal torturings and blood spilt in many unusual designs worshipping the Great Ancient Beasts.

Worldbuilding is fine but there should be some references to /tg/ related things to build this world. Well thats what I strived for when starting this.

Anyway, I really like the concept of where this story is going. But, what could Nordens and The Ancient Great Beasts be based off of? Not copied from specific characters, but similar to how we were SUPPOSED to draw up Tessagog.

I think we should have a caster supremacist country to represent all the crowd that view caster supremacy as logic and natural in any setting where there is magic.

I also think there should be a country who nurtures a deep hatred for underground constructions, specially prisons, and dragons of any kind. They say that Dungeons and Dragons are the root of most of what's wrong with the world.

There should also be a country that believes all the answers are given by their cult religion in the god Gurps. Gurpists are mostly very decent people and super pratical about everything when talking about anything else but religion. Other people tend to nurture a deep prejudice with them, and they, in turn, tend to act snob and arrogant, confidend of the righteousness of their creed. They insist Gurps hold the answer to all questions, and they are fairly anachronical, and the others insist that their insistence in Gurps is borderline fanatical and unjustified. A dispassionate analysis would show that Gurpsism is a fine belief system, not the best, but a very well rounded one that values a lot of good stuff, and that while it's not THE answer to everything, it does provides good guidelines. Very few people are dispassionate about it though.

On those lines, the Ou/tg/rounds need a kingdom representing Warhammer 40k. An empire that occupies a vast land, has a lot of people in, and is often attempting to expand even further. To represent 40k fans, how they are a huge percentage of /tg/, but also how they have the habit to try and make everything about 40k, even when there's no reason to.

The Forty Krusaders or something. The fact they have an emperor, are an empire, hate outsiders, who they stubbornly call Xenos, and are prone to dish huge amounts of coin in luxury itens that are clearly overpriced, at least the nobles among them.

Not sure all tabletop systems deserve their own land, or even need them. Pathfinder for example, it's a major group, but it's hard to find an agnostic way to represent them as we did with gurps, that will differ from the fantasy world of the ou/tg/rounds at large. We could make them furries, but it would be an obvious insult and not represent most players, while even if not all 40k fans are autist trying to shove 40k into everything, they certainly know those guys exist, and have the other, reasonable citizens of this empire to represent them and to write about. They could infer positive traits for that kingdom from characteristic of their fandom. So could Gurpists. But with PF, the fandom and reasons to use the system as too diverse and half the games played on PF or more, are not set on golarion, so it's not a setting as much as a system.

We could make the Path-finders an order or some sorta that exist in the outgrounds, and say that they are the spiritual descendents of the first pioneers of the land, but their legacy is questioned. Another other has the former title and claim to this pioneers. They call pathfinders imposters and pretenders. Pathfinders say they lost their way during the 4th age and never quite became the same, so while they hold the title, pathfinders carry the real legacy.

The past of the Pioneers is directed connected to all the ou/tg/rounds and most kingdoms owe to them their very existence, if not as founders, because they carved the paths, roads and explored the lands that would later be conquered and occupied by others. They charted most of the ou/tg/grounds and defined it's contours, even if they work wasn't precise. Whoever, some question their importance and their value. Either because they think they never mattered and other nations would eventually developed without the trails they found and the exploration they did, or because they believe that now, they are a thing of the past, a relic of begone time. So they don't think that one order of explorer's and pioneers is necessary, let alone two who constantly fight each other. And even how the original Pioneer order still sometimes has infights between Lodges (each guildhall is a lodge), because some believe the tenants of first founding, some follow the rules of the renovation, but the vast majority sticks between who they were at the third era, with many of those leaving to become pathfinders, or staying with the pioneers but refusing to update their policies and rules. And some follow the later 4th and 5th (current) era edicts. There's a central authority to the Pioneers, living on top of Mont Gyrax, in the very first Lodge, but it's now so disconnected from the rest of the pioneers in the field that whatever they declare only has any force of law for those who believe it does. There's also small isolated isles out the eastern seaboard, which must have broken out from the continent during a past geological era, or was connected by ice bridges during the last ice age, but those have since melted, and when human culture formed between the populations spread there, each island ended up with a very different culture, and by chance, none developed a way to navigate great distances. So they were all unaware of each other and segregated for the past thousands of years. Only when other realms began to find them and stablishing trade routes, they became connected to the world and each other and by then, most of their culture was already a deeply embeded tradition. Due to their strange manners, many kingdoms as a whole, or orders, or religions, often reject their customs and call for them to be banned from the mainland, or even from leaving their own island.

None is looked upon with as much distrust as the island of Furria, where the inhabitants, due to some strange magical effect, wether by design or accidental, man made or natural ocurring on their isolated island, had become anthropomorph version of different animals. And there doesnt seem to be any logic behind their reproduction. A wolf person can produce an offspring with a cat person, and the result be a avian or horse person. This, along with the sheer disturbing way they look, is enough to make most suspect the islands are cursed, or have a pact with otherwordly, terrible creatures, or are simply the fruit of degenerates being given magic power. Some people accept Furrians into their homes and don't seem to mind them, but they are the exception. And the Deusvultian are eager to smite them on sigh, no questions asked. Due to their complete unability to sail, they are seldomly seem anywhere outside Furria. And often those who wont slay them, call for them to be shipped back to whatever part of that island they crawled from.

In the north, though still shy of the Frozen Wastes, there's a large kingdom known as Alba Lupus. The kingdom is strong and independent, even if small, with fierce warriors ready to face all those who enter. It has stood there proudly, pushing off major empires, since the second age. A surface glance reveal large castles, peasants working fertile soil and eating the product of hard earned labour while noble knights and warrior provide them safety.

But the kingdom is haunted by stories of werewolves and vampires, lurking in the night, devouring the innocent to sustain their unholy life. The nobility while noble on the outside, is, due to the kingdom small size, often formed by cruel inbreds. The higher up in the hirearchy, the truer it is. The knights serve tyrants, sometimes willingly, sometimes unknowingly, and can barely do anything agaisnt the forces in the dark. Depravity to make one's stomach turn takes place in the high courts in the capital, and not always due to the presence of a manipulating vampire. While mortals are most of the realm, some of them can be just as cruel as the monsters that prey on them. Deusvultians nurture a deep disrespect for Alba Lupians for those reasons, even if not all of them are to blame for the wicked ways of their nobles, and the monsters that dwell there. Even the monster may sometimes be decent people. But none wants to hear from the exception when the rule is so debased, disgusting and offensive.

Yet, when the kingdom is threatened by an outsider, commonfolk and nobles always manage to rally themselves to arms to keep them at bay. They are segregated but for vital trade routes, in the mountains and deep forests, in their dark halls. They distrust the outsiders for they know what outsiders think of them.

A spine chilling tale of torture and debauchery is wildly known to the ou/tg/rounds, and the words 'Do you catan' never fail to inspire a shiver when whispered in the dark corner of a tavern.

I based the Great Ancient Beasts off of Lovecraft/Cthulhu horrors. None specifically but the general idea came from that area. I pictured Nordens being a slim man slightly above average height who hunches while standing. You get the idea that he is listening to voices that no one else can hear. He should have long stringy hair that looks matted in places and wears some sort of mask signifying his loyalty to the realm of Madness. The parts of his body that are visible should show signs of self mutilation in the shape of symbols of the occult variety.

-The Horror Wars Erupt-

The armies of the Ou/tg/rounds looked on helplessly as never before seen beasts of different sizes and appearances crawled through the Madness Breach onto the sides of the Lone Mountain. Nordens stood atop the mountain triumphant, screaming in an unintelligible language. His body soon began to swell and shift in uncontrollable ways. His flesh soon began to rip from his body exposing a Great Ancient Beast possessing his body. Tenticles ripped from his abdomen, whipping and cracking violently. Nordens turned in place slowly taking in the sight of the armies that had gathered to stop him. He raised his arms as if telling the Great Ancient Beasts to go forth and ruin.
