Is "Doubting souls" any good?

One of the writers on that one has been set to handle Hunter 2e, and since Hunter is my favourite game line (Changeling is the only other one that really gets close in terms of consistent quality IMO) I'd like to know if I should be worried on that front.

I had to make Solar NPCs of greater XP value to actually challenge my PCs. Honestly I feel like it would be a necessary change, but there would be a big tonal shift for vampires if they did that, as well as other changes to their fluff. Travel wouldn't be an issue, they could keep up the Masquerade better, they could maintain non-vampire relationships more easily, etc. For me, the whole sunlight thing was one of the things that really made them feel damned.

So, here's a question for y'all. Ahrimanes (Gangrel Bloodline) have sterile blood as a clan flaw; they can't make vampires the traditional way, and their vitae can't make ghouls, but there's no clear ruling on if their blood can sustain a pre-existing ghoul.

My inclination is to say "If they can't make them, then they can't sustain them", that their blood lacks the 'oomph' to maintain the ghouldom; it's basically empty calories, tastes good (relatively speaking), but doesn't even count towards a ghoul's blood pool.

Can I get a second opinion on this?

Death is a fucking great Arcanum. For a Mage, losing souls can be a huge problem as they eventually lose their magic if they don't get another one, and guess which Arcanum they would need for that? Death.

Not only that, but Death magic doesn't work like you think it does. It doesn't have anything to do with aging, it straight out rots and degrades shit, pure and simple. It can be fixed with Life magic, sure, but so can damage from all the other Arcana so it's really no different.

Plus ghosts, Twilight, cold, endings, and darkness are all very useful things to have command over.

Mage as a game is a REALLY fucking weird departure from WoD as a whole to be one of it's three main games. It's notorious for attracting minmaxing faggots who crybully their GM into letting them do what they want (whether or not the reputation is deserved is a matter left to personal experience), and like >>51887637 said, the Metaplot doesn't revolve around them, but they desperately want it to.

Magefags, meanwhile, are a bunch of metagaming cockgarblers who play WoD to "win," the same way your Chaotic Evil teamkilling Half Orc with no backstory beyond "He's a tough guy" plays DnD to "win."

Crossovers in WoD require a lot of care to avoid overpowering one splat's story, and Magefags want nothing more than to do exactly that. On the flip side, puritans who say "one splat for one Chronicle" hate them still because, if they aren't playing Mage, then nothing Mages do should matter.

People who can play Mage without throwing a fucking Pride Parade over it are alright, though.

And then you hunt down and bind all of your Ghosts formed from all of the times you've died to your will, forming an unholy alliance with yourself.

I had an NPC do that in my last game.
Before they could destroy her Soul-Wand though, the Mysterium snatched it up and locked it up in one of their deepest vaults.
So it's technically feasible that if someone stole the wand, and resurrected her, she could return in her full glory and power.
And continue her perverted work.

The roll is usually Power Stat + Arcanum/Gift/Discipline + Duration Modifier

So Mages with their indefinite powers can be pretty good at them, and ephemeral entities are surprisingly garbage.

A Rank 3 Spirit can at best roll 9 dice at a Clash of Wills, and that's using a Willpower, along with an Influence of 3 dots.

Life magic doesn't offer true, permanent immortality. It helps to retain youth and extend lifespans but it doesn't wholly "remove the aging process". Their is a spell for that, but it requires Death and Life and only lasts for a week. A Life spell to retain a youthful appearance could again be overcome by a higher potency Time spell.

Charms are pre-rolled once they have been made, and created in batches. Similar to Time 4 hung spells but far better. Essentially this would turn the Mage into a D&D Wizard, only far more dangerous and versatile.

It would be more efficient to create an Artifact instead, as it only requires a single success (in this case to blow up the universe) to use them, and doesn't get consumed in the process. The Paradox would be enormous, but Mages are constantly suicidal with total disregard for consequences.

No ST is going to be gullible enough to allow this, but it's entirely RAW.

They'd only do bashing damage with the Changing Breed powers, but if you do go that route take Prime 3's Celestial Fireball, it can hit twilight creatures IIRC.


Alter Conductivity allows you to make anything a perfect electrical conductor. For some reason in 1e in was shoved in as a 1 dot spell. It makes it almost trivial to run large amounts of electricity into pretty much anyone.

What sphere would a Mage have to be, and I know better than to ask if it's possible, to remove a vampires weakness to the sun or shield him from it?

My next game involves a Brujah biker (...) and a newbie Mage investigating a hobo-shovelhead army slaughtering an entire neighborhood on Christmas eve. If we get as far as spring and summer, sun will make acting in the day difficult.

It made sense in the context of the game. They were the most oppositional Anarch holdouts in the city. Isaac had disappeared, Jeanette doesn't care about the Movement as a whole, Therese is the Malkavian Primogen (yes, I know, Alt ID is a thing...), and the Tremere Prince of Los Angeles was charged by an Archon to deal with the Thin Bloods. So he chose to deal with the Anarchs at the same time. The PCs were loosely responsible for it (they retrieved a bunch of the materials to make the bomb, and the materials to make the 'meth lab explosion' cover story work).

Not in the books, as far as I'm aware(didn't look at 1e)
You could probably justify the existence of a "Gift of Fear" and have the Purity facet be something like a presence+intimidation+purity roll(minus highest Resolve among targets, maybe?) to apply Cowed, Paranoid, Shaken, or Spooked, that's a reflex to activate(and costs an Essence, obviously).
Dunno what the other facets would be though.
