Working on Captain Sisay right now, snagged a cheap Eladamri's Call from the local FLGS for it. My favorite deck is Karlov though.

I bought a beautiful foil Idyllic Tutor, I can't get enough of looking at the art. I also got a Land Tax from Legends. That one is not so pretty, but no less useful.

>What's your favorite deck?
OP here. It's Zedruu and will always be Zedruu. It's a Johnny's wet dream.

currently working on Bant enchantress pillow fort deck, just got most of the remaining pieces, but unfortunately the commander I wanted, angus Mackenzie, is $80, so I'm gonna roll with Rubinia soul singer in the meantime, though I probably won't cast her very often (in testing I wasn't casting angus Mackenzie all that often either

Most recent card I purchased was treachery for the enchantress deck. Treachery is an incredible card, it's already amazing just as a "free" steal your shit spell, but untapping your lands is actually so powerful that the more important use of the card in my deck is actually as a combo piece, I'll use it and gain control of my own creature because all that matters is I have a mana doubler or two and a enchantress or two and I'm casting every enchantment in my deck

Eventually I find copy enchantment to make more mana, and then cloudstone curio to make infinite mana
>>
>>51729354
I only have Emrakul at the minute, but I'm buying stuff in order to build Rashmi, Vela and Anax & Cymede. I think Emrakul will continue to be my favourite though, it's fun already, and it'll be even better when I upgrade the land base and put in oppressive cards like Torpor Orb.

Hey /edh/ I posted in the earlier thread about wanting to get into commander with the Breya precon. Unfortunately my Walmart had sold out but some anon said something about Atraxa so I purchased this instead. Is Atraxa just as good? I only wish it was in English but it was the only one they had.

Breya and atraxa are both good in different ways, the precons come with some decent cards in them too
>>
>>51729354
>>What's the most recent card you've purchased and what deck was it for?
Redirect Damage. Used for my kalemne deck to re-route blasphemous act to a insta-kill.
>>

purchased tainted strike (guess the deck)
Fave is Jhin Gitaxias or atraxa
>>
>>51730450
Yes I'm just wondering if it's good or not because it's my first edh deck. I'm not complaining about it being foreign I've just got to look up all the new cards to see what they do
>>
>>51729197
Playing krenko goblins, have a fuckload on board with hostility and purph in play, top deck burn at the stake, tap EVERYTHING to nuke the fuck out of one dude, prevent damage dealt to fill the board with hundreds of 3/1s to kill everyone with Purph etb

>>51729354
>What's the most recent deck you've completed and/or the deck you're currently working on?
Last deck I completed was my Kozilek deck. Currently working on Yidris, and trying to re-build my old Marath deck.
>What's the most recent card you've purchased and what deck was it for?
I picked up a few Tops for all my decks. I fucking love Top.
>What's your favorite deck?
Probably my Kokusho deck. I made it practically as soon as I heard it was unbanned and never looked back.
>>
>>51730546

In all honesty you might be able to sell a Japanese atraxa precon mint on eBay for enough to buy an English Breya precon and a few singles to upgrade the deck
>>
>>51730714
>>51730546

Especially since as a new player, having to look up what each and every card does is actually a major problem
>>
>>51730785
Yeah, sell the Atraxa precon and get whichever you want in English.

The Japanese one is pretty rare.
>>
>>51730785
I mean I'd like to play with it if I could. I'm not really into flipping sealed product. There are a few other Walmarts within driving distance so I might be able to find some more cool stuff. They also had a few 2015 precons but no Meren or I would have bought her too

>>

I'm primarily just running him as an Equipment/Aura Voltron Commander.
He's got such an insane amount of card draw.
However I'm probably going to alter the deck to have more Hexproof, as that's where it can fall down.

I'm missing most of the really good Equipments, but that's because I build decks on a budget.
>>
>>51730380

Recently completed Papa Purphoros. Working on Sakashima clone tribal.

Promo Mind Stone foil for my Avacyn deck.

>What's your favorite deck?

>>

I'd just recommend you buy a preconstructed EDH deck, then are probably the only preconstructed product WotC make that is actually good.
>>
>>51733289
Just google some cheap commander decks and look around for whatever one suits your fancy the most.

Frankly, EDH decks all rely on what you find the most fun. For some, its throwing spells until you puke. For others, its filling the board with permanents constantly.

SO you guys seem like the place to seek advice, used to be big into MTG, have been out of it for several years since university. Recently rediscovered a box with a bunch of stuff in it. Is there a decent place to sell without getting ripped off that doesn't involve relearning what's in-demand?

You could just mail it to me, I'll treat them well, I promise.

Seriously though, if you want to sell them without looking up the prices you're going to be taking a leap of faith no matter where you sell to. Your best bet is probably one of the major online trading websites.
>>
>>51733920

In addition to my idea for a Sen deck I wanna make a monoblack deck as well sometime soon. Been too long since I've played my favorite color.

Xiahou Dun is my new general. I played MBC back in the days as a teenager and refined the concept as combo control. My playgroup has become pretty competitive lately, so I might stax it up a bit.

Mycosynth isn't needed since they changed the rules. Stuff like vivid lands, fellwar stone, gilded lotus, chromatic lantern, your opponents lands, exotic orchard, etc. Are all more all purpose, which is something you want with send triplets, since they are never in play because of how big a removal magnet they are. You will be able to play removal out of their hand, so instead of giving STP over to you, you bet your ass they are going to cast it instead. They also make it easy to combo off because the targeted player can't really stop you on their turn.

Telepathy, urza's glasses, grand abolisher, conqueror's flail.
Be sure to get the mono artifact version of urza's glasses Since it misses the tap symbol you might be able to convince noobs that it's static. It's a legitimate strategy since it's in flavor

There are 3 big ways to build sen triplets. Steal your shit tribal, artifact control, or removal, counterspell and hatebears tribal.

The last one is the best version imo. Sen triplets is no kidding one of the biggest removal magnets in the format, you absolutely need protection if you want to actually use the effect. The last version is also fun since every game will pack out very differently, since you have to use your opponent's win condition.

I'm glad you ask, anon.

Zedruu is, first and foremost, a great card draw engine. To be honest, the most fun way is up to everyone's personal taste, but I can tell you that the "bad gifts" Zedruu strategy is short-sighted. It's what I call "basic bitch Zedruu". You read her ability and it's the first thing you think of. "Oh yeah, I'm going to fuck up my opponents with a Grid Monitor, Steel Golem and Pyromancer's Swath!"

It's an easily-disruptable strategy, it's very transparent, and it's going to turn the whole table against you. Not to mention all those times where you will end up stuck with those bad cards on your side of the table.

What I found about playing Zedruu is that you wants to be inconspicuous and appear group-huggy, until you have enough card advantage to go all-out and turn the game in your favor and win in whatever way you prefer.

I personally run her as a pillowfort combo with Enduring Ideal, and it's never not fun to play with the deck. The most "bad-gifts" cards I play are Illusions of Grandeur and Statecraft, but those are useful for you when you have them, unlike Swath, etc.

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/ideal-zedruu/
>>
>>51737845
not that guy but lock/enchantment control feat. Enduring Ideal is a pretty strong version. That's my Zedruu, but mine is disguised as a grouphug version. They all love drawing cards off Temple Bell until I land Mind Over Matter and win on the spot. Or all 'ha ha chaos' when I play Possibility Storm and then when I spam boardwipes before hitting Enduring Ideal and tutor into Rule of Law suddenly we're playing 'no-fun' and 'bullshit locks.'
Zedruu is a passive card advantage engine that you don't even need except in cases of Solitary Confinement.
She's not super strong but she's my most competitive deck for sure. The deck to play when the general powerlevel is high.

>>51737224
I've just built 5 Color Zada and I need to tune my list somewhat.
I've not really taken it out yet, played three games with it.
First was against heartless hidetsugu, Ghave and BUG zombies. I combo'd out turn 5 through a little interaction. Heartless tried to Chaos Warp my Jeskai Ascendancy and I managed to instant speed draw my entire deck and win off a flashed in Lab Man.
The second and third games were against Rashmi, Eternities Crafter, Rafiq and my own Zedruu and I got smashed both games without doing anything.

No. It's an activated ability, so you'd have to use Rings of Brighthearth. Do also keep in mind it has a rider where it can only target opponents it dealt damage to, so if you wanted to copy it effectively, you'd also have to have an extra combat where you swung hope at someone else. I run him as a commander, and admittedly, I just use him as a vanilla 1/1 flyer voltron to great success. It's fun dropping your commander turn 1 every game.

Completed was Mizzix. Though I still want to go out and buy a Mana Geyeser and Banefire for the deck. Mana Geyeser because the deck already runs Pyretic Ritual and Seething Song and used to run Inner Fire and rituals just do work. Banefire is just to have another X Burn Spell and act as a win condition if I can combo off and it just looks so fucking cool.

>>What's the most recent deck you've completed and/or the deck you're currently working on?
Currently working on Ghave combo degeneracy. List i ready, needs some testing though and i need to order some cards. None of my decks are complete due to financial restraints and seemingly endless amounts of creativity hinder me from investing in land because I'd rather build my new deck idea cause even without shocks and fetches my mana bases usually work pretty well.

>What's the most recent card you've purchased and what deck was it for?
Demonic/Vampiric/Grim Tutor for breya and Diabolic Intent for ghave

>What's your favorite deck?
Breya atm I love esper colors and artifact degeneracy in general.
Artifacts are propably my favorite card type

I thought about this but my playgroup either doesn't play counterspells or is too "noob" to remember they can cast instants in the opponent's turn, so it's kinda useless, but here's a few cards I've considered:

1 Kambal, Consul of Allocation
1 Erebos, God of the Dead
1 Karmic Justice
1 Archfiend of Depravity
1 High Priest of Penance
1 Authority of the Consuls
1 Mystic Barrier
>>
>>51743322
It's not about counterspells. You said you want your commander to be hard as fuck to get rid of. Obzedat is only on the battlefield on your turns. When you play grand abolisher your opponents can't do anything against your commander.

Has anyone experienced unfun power creep in their playgroup?

We started out with casual friendly decks like prossh tokens or breya and now a few months later my friend has built a reaper king land destruction deck, breya has degenerated into thopter sword combo and prossh just uses food chain to win.

What the fuck do I do?

>>

You play more instant speed answers and disrupt their combos

It's very fun to sandbag something and stop them when they think the game is won

If everybody in your playgroup can agree that combos, or maybe just specific combos, are unfun, you can house rule your own banlist

My playgroup banned food chain and tooth and nail, then unbanned a bunch of ridiculous cards that don't necessarily make infinite combos like prime time and sundering Titan

Now our power level is extreme but there are fewer games ending out of nowhere with "I found the tooth and nail haha"

Honestly land destruction is stupid as fuck, you just play all the mana rocks you can afford and all the land destruction and you basically can't lose unless

A-an opponent is also on the all-mana-rocks plan
B-an opponent managed to combo so fast you didn't even have time to wipe lands, how can they do this? Mana rocks

So once you start playing stax/MLD, you lead your meta down a very narrow path

Which one should I build?

Karn gets style points for being Karn and completely colorless with weird interctions like infinite mana, recurring with Nim Deathmantle, and beating people to death with a 1500/1500 Gilded Lotus, but Kurkesh has access to red, and his ability is pure value from generating tons of if not infinite mana, being a rings of brighthearth in the command zone, and card draw, from cards like trading post, hedron archive, and salvaging station with cards like conjurors bauble.

You're still a dick-ass planeswalker, the commander is just, well, the commander that you delegate specific tasks to.

>>
>>51746495

The commander is your stand. Yes, that is a JJBA reference.
>>
>>51746495
In all iterations of magic post-mending you are a planeswalker, and your deck is every spell you can possibly know, yoir hand being what comes to mind. Your commander is an extremely familiar creature to you, as it's always in your repertoire of known spells. You can consider it a familiar, or a close ally which happens to be a plane bound entity, who you can always recall fondly enough to conjur a copy of. Unless you're playing a planeswalker as your commander, in which case, whatever.

I consider anything over 5 dollars to be an expensive card. Granted it's not a lot of money but it still adds up. I'm looking at all the shocklands with green in them right now and the cost would come out to something like 31 dollars for 3 pieces of cardboard. So I'm thinking of maybe just proxying them for the time being until I can afford them.

But that's why I'm asking the question. With people that have a high number of decks, especially in multicolor, what do you do with your manabase? Do you invest in it for every deck or do you start proxying or just go in an play with suboptimal manabases?

because all UGx decks play the same staples and are too similar in content., while more creative decks in the combination suffer for not using the staples.

but a lot of it is just because it's good. Card draw and mana ramp too strong for mono red babbies

Video games aren't that expensive. You can get some good games via sales or second hand market, borrow them from friends or play the ones you have more than once.

Same goes for consoles. Just don't get them on release and you easily save a hundred bucks. Can't do that with magic

>>any sport? check

Oh that's a complete fucking lie and you know it, especially for team sport where the required equipment is generally "A pair of decent shoes" and literally nothing else.

Not every sport is Golf or Skiing

They already fixed it for the better, ya dingus

But they let you hit land drops much more consistently and they work well with untap effects like OG Garruk.

As long as your meta isn't running targeted land destruction, they're a great budget alternative.

I'm making a a +1/+1 counters matter deck, and it needs a finishing push. Right now, I've got grasp of darkness to help overcome my local meta's taste for indestructibility, but I realize I could just slot it out for Glistening Oil to similar effect and more, but I feel bad losing a +1/+1 counter each turn considering how slow it can be to replenish its counters sometimes. Anyone have experience using glistening oil / willing to offer input?

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/everying-stays/ is decklist, for more explicit reference, but I'd like infinitive answers as well.

I've been brewing for a while, but I can never come up with a coherent deck idea.

The rest of your list isn't true either but this one perplexes me. Have you never tried dressing up before? Is your only experience with costume design directly related to googling overpriced, premade costumes?

I can tell you right now that most characters can be recreated quite well for ~$100 and in many cases ~$50 if you're a bit thrifty. Also clothing tends not to suffer from power creep.

I'd say that the additional time investment of building and painting models makes wargames cheaper as a hobby overall than TCGs.

It's objectively the worst two-color combo for EDH

No ramp, no draw.

It's all fucked

It's also objectively the most satisfying way to crush Spikes with a plethora of options in MLD. Don't underestimate its niche.

That just means you're less of a threat early on. Gotta play that politicking, get an ally, or make it obvious you want to go after someone specifically so the rest will leave you alone just long enough to fill your board. This strategy works better in games of six or more. Also, there are definitely some cards that allow for draw power, but they're considered below average and nobody runs them. I do and I do okay in most games.

the foil promo is 100 cheaper and, if your building right, tutors for any piece you need

its newer, White cousin that looks at toughness is also perfectly interchangeable in this case
