Helmeted Primarchs Sub-edition

Helmeted Primarchs a best.
Resin Supremacists vs (((Plastics))) discussed how to minis but the only way to prevent bubbles is to order TWO SEXMACHINES, and all your streets are now Fortified. Knight fire arcs doesn't make sense, probably because they're surfing on tanks and stuff. All of that and more in the previous thread >>51335964

This thread's for the Mechanicum, since we don't exactly have a number to reserve one for us.

Admittedly, my lot aren't exactly normal. We do make good monsters, though. Starting to clean and trim some bits for the Genetor Castellax.

We also have Shattered Legions, three flavour of Blackshields, three flavours of Mechanicum, Solar Auxilia and regular IM mortals.

So I guess it would be a D27?

But we gotta agree on which group claims which number.

You know, prevent the whole "do we decimate on a 1 or on a 10?" scenario

MaC. Militia and Cults, so all the Army and such.
I think we can probably roll the Mechanicum and Blackshields into one each, but I forgot about Shattered Legions. How about:

21 Shattered Legions
22 Blackshields
23 Solar Auxilia
24 Militia and Cults
25 Mechanicum.
Should probably put that on the OP of we're rolling like that, though.

I also forgot THOSE existed. There's literally no player who doesn't run some variant of Calth+ Primarch+ Toys at the local GW, I think I will be the first non-Legion guy. Going in with an almost completely converted army, too. I'm such a special snowflake...
That system works well, and I'm fairly certain we've got everything apart from Daemons and Knights-Errant, which aren't really standalone things here. Tack Daemons on as 2 and have Agents of the Emperor on 11?

It’s not just the VI and XV Legions in the book though – also covered are the Talons of the Emperor: the Sisters of Silence and Legio Custodes. Even in an age of superhuman demi-gods, this force is elite, with access to loads of great vehicle support for their unequaled infantry.

>both of which can deviate quite considerably from the standard Space Marine Legion force

I really hope not, at least no more than any other legion. The thing that made 30k great was the ability to create forces which have access to the same units but play very differently through the choice application of a few rules. If they start making all the remaining legions wildly divergent because they're bored it'll destroy that elegant design (along with the balance).

Still, it'll be amusing when that annoying tripfag best left unnamed discovers that his 300 marines that he's already bought don't work in a SW army.

Are there any plans to give units, including those that are severely sub-par since the veterans boost, a bit of a leg up through an Errata ? Also :
- Destroyers ?
- Breachers : possible to give them something to make them less bad outside ZM ?
- Recon squads : Why more points than veterans ? Why no shotgun/CC weapon/Sniper for the sergant ?
- Xiphon : does it have to cost more points than a Fire Raptor whilst having half the HP and less AV ?
- Cerberus ?
- Quad mortar nerfs possibly ?
- Seekers : any reason the sergant can't have a combi-weapon ?
- Squad-wide meltabombs : for the units that can, please allow just the sergant or individual models to take a meltabomb, because the whole unit is now the worst upgrade to take ever.
- Why does Mechanicum have to be so OP :^)

Why is the Vulturax considered good? Someone never actually read the lore for them. The EVERYONE IS ALPHARIUS is one gimmick they have out of an entire grab bag of dirty tricks. Their insecurity, quiet arrogance, tendency towards calculated atrocities, battle lust, tendency towards using disposable catspaws and unconventional allies, advanced technologies...

Think of them as 40k's answer to Marvel Hydra as a Space Marine Legion. They're explicitly noted to be hated enemies of the Inquisition with a thing for spreading cults as disposable allies and distractions.

At what point do people in your meta reveal their lists? Around me we usually give a quick run through right before deployment. Not super in depth, just "I got # units of X with Y weapons in Z transports, these guys have Apothecaries, these ICs, Veterans have this rule." Recently a guy moved here who has a lot of trouble with this concept and either tries dancing around it (especially with his veterans' special rules) or has to really be prodded, so obviously wherever he came from they don't do that. I know it's not in the rulebook or anything, but we as a group just do it as a kind of gentleman's agreement for a fair fight so we aren't surprised when Vulkan jumps out of a Land Raider or something. So does your meta go over lists:
1. Before deployment
2. As you deploy
3. Only if asked
4. Fuck you, you'll see what's in my Spartan when it gets out of the Spartan.
5. Other

Generally before deploying/around that time we go through everything, note any counts-as, etc
>>
>>51364674
Before or during deployment we tell what each unit is and their wargear. During deployment we tell which character/IC joined which unit, and use counters like dice or models to show which unit is in which transport. Things like Veteran tactics are decided at the times the rules tell you to.

This is how things should be done, otherwise you get WAACfags abusing the fact they don't have to say what is in which transport and the like, meaning their Delegatus with Veterans is never in the rhino you shoot at for example.

I like the "warrior poet" theme. In that sense they're not just Mongolian - they're an East Asian amalgamation.

The Mongols didn't really do the horde thing, moving your community together with your army. That was more Hunnic. More in WS fashion, Genghis Khan sent large-scale raids like a "reconnaissance" mission consisting of 20,000 under Subutai, including conquered specialists like Chinese siege units. They traveled to the Caucasus and smashed an army of 60,000 on the way. They were elusive, came out of nowhere, and were happy to retreat to gain a tactical advantage. The only part of Mongolian military practice that we haven't seen in the WS is using other people's specialists to cover gaps in their expertise. But FW might write that in.

BL has given them lots of Chinese-sounding proverbs and Sun Tzu-style parables with military lessons, and a vaguely Taoist philosophy: simplicity, detachment from desires, the inaction as a deliberate action. They have the temperance to not delve deeper into the warp despite knowing what it offers, as per the Khan's discussion with Magnus. They keep their quarters sparse. And they talk about fighting without a center other than the Khan.

Their pursuit of the arts is Japanese. The samurai were a class, not a profession, so once the country was at peace and isolated, they had nothing to do but art. The earliest samurai were horse-mounted archers, an obvious parallel.

I don't know if they have anything Korean in them. Were they better with ships than the Chinese? Chris Wraight has made the WS voidfaring experts, but I think that's just an extension of being good with fast machinery.
>>
>>51364159
I hope you're kidding.

The Crassus is a recent addition in 40k because the forge world of Zhao-Arkkad was only recently brought back into the Imperium. But in Inferno it had close ties to Prospero and the Thousand Sons. So it was presumably a supplier for the Great Crusade, but stopped supplying the Imperium after the SW destroyed their friends. Then in M41 they join the "good" guys again and start handing out the CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT once more.

>crassus uses macharius chassis

Iron Warrior and Imperial Fist Centurions.

FORTIFYING.
>>
>>51365839
The red books say the Macharius and CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT can be used "representing indigenous war machines". So they existed, or at least something close enough did, but without the name. After all, none of these are new designs - they're just rediscovered STCs. So maybe a world had them but then was destroyed before it could share the schematics. 9,500 years later someone discovers identical plans on another world and names it after an M41 general.

The only problem is that a lot of the Baneblade/Shadowsword variants do seem to have been invented rather than discovered, like the Stormsword.

Something to remember is plenty of tech was lost in the Heresy, rediscovered, then lost again, and possibly rediscovered again. Because of the paranoid and monopolistic nature of the AdMech, discoveries between forge worlds are rarely shared, and so duplicate research would be a common practice.

Or like how Leman Russ Annihilator came to existence in M37 and was named after the Predator Annihilator, but Army can use it in 30k.
>>
>>51366221
The Looted Wagon was basically removed from the Ork codex, only to be added in a White Dwarf because of playerbase outrage. This was under the previous leaders of GW, and likely gives a good idea what their stance on kitbashing and conversions was.

You fools thought the Russ vs. Lion shitposting and Word Bearer shit was abhorrent. It was your salvation. None shall escape the true barbarity of the coming Russ Magnus flamewar. /HHG/ will burn, and all of /tg/ will fall with it.
>>
>>51366265
With GW's current trend of making upgrade sprues to make stuff like genestealer cultists from IG, maybe they could make a "loot sprue" that just comes with various orky bits you can slap onto other races vehicles to make your looted wagons. Just plate slabs, exhausts, guns, and crew. Would be fun to see more than just Imperial stuff. Like have a generic wagon profile and then allow you to add stuff to it. So you can have a generic wagon that's like a Rhino or a Chimera. But you can make it heavy, which reduces the speed but ups the armour (Russ), you can make it a skimmer (xenos vehicles), etc. Who wouldn't want something like looted Doomsday Arks (like in the 5e codex)?

>>
>>51366363
Exactly, things like that is why cross-codex compatibilty for kits is a good thing for GW. It is still a mystery why they removed things like the Leman Russ Executioner from the SW codex, the Basilisk from IW and so on, because things like that means more people buy the same excisting kit. Or just imagine what would happen if CSM were allowed drop pods, those would fly off the shelves faster than GW could produce them
>>
>>51366429
Executioner was removed because it was removed also from IG and didn't come back until 5e. Basilisk was removed because fuck you, that's why.

There are a couple of superheavies you can't use - it used to be an all-encompassing rule allowing ALL non-mentioned superheavies to be "indigenous war machines", but now there's an actual list (Macharius + Variants including Crassus are still on it though).

Ok, I have a very important question for you.

Grav-Rhinos. Will FW ever make them? They've said they won't give them to Custodes, and we've seen the Coronus, but will the Sisters of Silence get Grav-Rhinos for their transport needs?
>>
>>51367796
Firstly, im pretty sure that centurion is overcosted as fuck, you messed up with command squad and him math, or is actually a praetor. Secondly, consider changing something around to get some atack bikes, since sidecars are cool and definitely iconic. Finally, get some more anti-armour, be it meltabombs, fist meltaguns, powerfists sprinkled throughout, as since you gottagofast you'll run into locked doors a fair bit more often, if you play with such rules
>>
>>51367372
And it'll be different enough that you can't use the old model. Like rotor cannon turret and hull and sponson mounted autocannons, with a slightly larger hull.
>>
Hey anons,
Is there any good use for a Land Raider Achilles, or the Alpha version? Specifically in a DG list. I really like the model, but this stuff is too expensive (in CASH MONEY and points) to be a paper weight.
It's weapons seem a little schtizo, and it's 6 man capacity and lack of assault vehicle is... vexing.
>>
>>51368011

Battlescribe in its infinite wisdom lumps in the command squads point cost with the centurion, it looks weird I know. I had to add the 80 points for the command squads bikes myself.

I suppose I could drop a dread to add in my singular (albeit multimelta) attack bike and give the bikes meltabombs, wouldn't be a terrible idea.

If I wanted to sculpt trims and shit (let's say like the ones on new Kharn) on Mk III Marines to Chaosify them, what would be the best way to add detail to the backs of the suits? It seems like it'd be super-easy to make it look cluttered due to all the overlapping plates, but not adding anything would make the front and back of the model not match up.

However, whilst locked in a great duel with a fell champion of the Black Legion, Temajin was shot in the back by a Legionnaire's plasma gun and laid low. Whilst many White Scars find the prospect of being confined within the metal sarcophagus a horror, believing their soul should be allowed to roam free, Temajin has vowed to hunt down and enact revenge against the coward who shot him. I combine Cat and tart models and call it Raphaengelos-pattern terminator armour.

in fluff it's my expeditionary fleets praetor asking his Forge lord (Raphaengelos) to make him a special suit of terminator armour for a specific campaign that required tactical flexibility. Before each mission the suits could have their power redirected to enhance different systems.

Irl it saves me from having to buy twice as many terminators. I just tell my opponent what kind of terminator plate I'm using before the game starts (cat or tart).

My friends get triggered at this because of armourautism. How triggered would you be /HHG/?
