Didn't Jolly say it was fine to take down Legendary Kineticists 2 because it was at the closing stages of development?

What's your favorite set of feat tax rules?
>>
>>51346673

I like the one in the pastebin. Mammoth in the room or what ever it is called.
>>

>>51346688
Which one? There is no mammoth in there
>>
>>51346688
Same

I hope this doesn't devolve in "bad house rules because *blank" shit posting
>>
>>51346673
I want one that just gives a set of free feats instead of changing around how everything works. It'd be way easier to keep track of, you know?
>>
>>51346673
Mostly the compression ones.
>Vital Strike is now one scaling feat
>TWF is now one scaling feat
>PA/DA have always been one scaling feat
>Crossbow damage is upped one size category across the board, without counting as a virtual size increase, so as to not block actual virtual size increases.
>>
>>51346688
My main gripe about Elephant in the Room is that it doesn't go far enough in one or two places: the biggest example is merging precise and point blank shot instead of just giving everyone precise shot.

As it is, it still means anyone who wants to use ranged attack rolls still has it as a mandatory pick, even if they don't want to further invest in archery.
>>
>>51346782

Does that fix crossbows? Would it be okay to just treat them as bows?
>>
>>51346746

This one http://michaeliantorno.com/feat-taxes-in-pathfinder/
>>
>>51346778
Well my current GM has the following ones without changing how a single feat works:
>Power attack, deadly aim, that close ranged feat that gives you bonuses at close range (can't remember the name), combat expertise, piranha strike and TWF (all versions) are free if you meet the prequisites for them

Me thinks that this one's pretty good.
>>
What are some ways one can reverse the aging process, either permanently or temporarily, and what levels are they possible at? It needs to be something that's got a long duration if it isn't permanent and it has to be a physical change, not an illusion of some kind.

I have a game coming up and I want to play a nasty old crone witch that constantly brags about her former beauty, and eventually turns into a babe with huge tits.
>>
>>51346890
Lymnieris' obedience at level 16+ can reverse aging at will with a touch attack.

Reincarnate always brings back the creature as a young adult of their new race.
>>
>>51346890

Threefold Aspect.
>>
>>51346821
It doesn't fix them for standard usage. A crossbow sniper will want to build differently. What it does is make the size-up path a lot more effective.

"They're just bows" tends to annoy a lot of people (often paizotards but also folks who'd want a different weapon or they'd just have taken a bow).

another one before I forget:
Anyone who claims to be proficient in polearms and can't adjust their grip (and thus their effective reach) as PART of their attacks and parries isn't actually proficient. If you're not at -4 to attack with it because you're not sure how it works, you FUCKING GET TO TOGGLE ITS REACH as long as you're attacking, readying it or otherwise using it this round. FUCK.
>>
>>51346955
Also, cyclic reincarnation is a level 6 druid spell that works like reincarnate, except you always come back as the same race and always look very similar to your original appearance but adjusted for the new age.

If something with spell resistance imbibes an extract or is a willing target of it, does it proc the Spell Resistance?
>>
>>51347573
You can voluntarily lower spell resistance.
>>
>>51347573
A creature can voluntarily lower its spell resistance. Doing so is a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity. Once a creature lowers its resistance, it remains down until the creature's next turn. At the beginning of the creature's next turn, the creature's spell resistance automatically returns unless the creature intentionally keeps it down (also a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity).

A creature's spell resistance never interferes with its own spells, items, or abilities.

Yeah, it was pretty bad. The balance wasn't really there (not surprising for d20), and a lot of the classes either on paper or in practice (usually the latter) just didn't FEEL right either, though usually that was from how they were written into the system rather than the d20 system itself (surprisingly enough).

I got much better mileage out of FFRPG3e, and the 4th edition is actually pretty decent too. FFd6 had excellent feel and potential but needed a second balance-pass and has long been abandoned so that'll never happen.

Okay so folks:

Insinuator Antipaladin 2 or Divine Hunter Paladin 2 for a Medium build? Divine Hunter is better for ranged builds but Insinuator is morally flexible. Which one do I want?

If I do end up gestalting it, what Charisma-focused class would be good? I'm thinking of the following classes:

>Avenger Vigilante, for skillpoints, snagging full bab, combat feats, and proficiencies
>Stalker Vigilante for... stalker stuff
>Swashbuckler for delicious crits and rapier shit
>Bloodrager for URG SMASH FACE
>Mysterious Stranger Gunslinger for shooting people in the face... stylishly.

If Akashic or Path of War or Psionics are on the table, I do know that there's also these ones available.

>Wilder, BANG, shooting shit, good tier 3.
>Dread, BOO, SPOOKY SCARY SKELETONS
>Warlord, CHARGE, and face-smackyiness
>Zealot, for protecting shit
>Daevic, for... Daevic stuff. I don't know what the Daevic does.

>>51350007
Well that pretty much confirms my app didn't get in because it wasn't good enough. Fuck.
>>
>>51349830
Way better.
Your pulse (eldritch blast) has way more shapes and they're upgradeable. These shapes are also gained separately from your clauses (invocations) though their modulations (the stuff like fire blast, rime blast, acid blast, 70s porn jazz blast) are in the regular clauses, though more numerous as well.

The pacts are closer to the 5e packages than the 4e "this alters ability X" ones; that is to say each pact offers the following:
>A sense type
>Level 1/4/8/12/16/20 abilities
>A choice of one of two pulse shapes (this now reads as "one of your first two must be from one of these two" as the table now states we start with two, but before it was "you get 1, plus one of these two")
>Two class skills (although a lot of them are knowledges or the such)

The power is your own; your patron (like a demon or a dragon), partner(the first one introduced was an otyugh), beloved, deity (lot of options eh?) or yourself (esoteric pacts) did either teach you the basics or fire off the initial spark that flared your abilities to life, and as such while they have no control over what happens next what they/it was DOES shape some of what they'll become.

If a Demon wants you to do stuff, it'll be as a questgiver with rewards, not as a threat of "falling". It might also be your great-grandma or something; perhaps one of your parents was a tiefling even if you're thinned out to regular human. Most patron avowed aren't first-generation anyways by sheer weight of time; once that power's awoken, your great-grandkids might still get those blue dragon powers appearing in the bloodline every once in a while.

Mechanically, there's weapon-booster pulse shapes if you really wanna optimize well, otherwise you'll do okay if you pick carefully, but will otherwise mostly be second-line, like how a bard can be good in a fight, rather than how a paladin can be good in a fight.

>>
>>51351121
My group doesn't know what they think a fun adventure is yet, I don't think. They seemed pretty lost the first time we played and I had to do a whole lot of leading them in the right direction because they had no idea what they were doing. I think they were somehow expecting everything to be even /more/ on rails than it was.

Being set in Golarion isn't really important at all, in fact I think it'd be easier to avoid a pre-existing setting like that entirely.

I had some ideas kicking around, but nothing super concrete. Mostly grand scheme stuff which isn't super helpful when thinking about a campaign for 2nd-level characters.

I wanted to run a campaign set within a destabilized kingdom being controlled by a cryptocracy of three lich goblins who pursued immortality in order to hoard wealth and control the public, but I have no idea how I'd even lead into that over multiple campaigns.

Have them be locals in the city, look into and take notes from Curse of the Crimson Throne. The whole campaign is a 1 to 20 game that sticks to the city it's happening in and might help you with ideas if you want that "city in discord" kind of game.

Looking on the PFSRD website, it has lists labeled "Third Party Races/Classes". But then I see people treat stuff that's not in one of these lists as third party if it's not core/base.

Basically, are Lizardfolk (standard race, 8 RP) and Occult classes all non-3rd party? Actually, is everything on this page non-3rd party?

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/
>>
>>51352382
Ah, so you're looking for something more like this, then?
>>
>>51352486
Look at the book listed at the bottom of literally every entry.
>>
>>51352486
The SRD has 3pp content in it, and it's not always clearly marked. If in doubt, check the source at the bottom of the page.

Lizardfolk and occult classes are both 1st party though yes.
>>
Someone link me the sleeping goddess roll20 page?

I thought I had it bookmarked but it seems I didn't.
>>
>>51352486
They will link a source at the bottom of the page. You can check if it's 3rd party from there.

My family trees often contain between 30 and 40 members. I normally actually make the chart to show the GM.

Honestly, I think it'd be pretty cool to have Demon, Daemon, and Devil subspecies of tiefling that break it down into each individual type of fiend. So, Maralith-blooded are different from Imp-blooded, from Glabrezu-blooded, from Erinyes-blooded.

>>
>>51352622
Depends. For most characters it isn't necessary. I have come up with family trees for playing minor nobles. Also the one time I played a still good aligned fallen Paladin.

GUYS

GUYS HOLY SHIT

Can we talk about how Paizo came out with something genuinely awesome for once?

Oracle Curse: Covetous (Legacy of Dragons)

Covetous: You find yourself drawn to the luster of wealthy living. You must wear fine nonmagical clothing and jewelry worth at least 50 gp + 100 gp per character level you have beyond 1st. If you do not have sufficient wealth to purchase this additional equipment, you feel a strong desire (but are not compelled) to sell existing items or steal from others to obtain it. You are sickened whenever you do not meet this requirement; you are also sickened for 24 hours after anything worth 25 gp your character level or more is taken from you against your will. Use Magic Device becomes a class skill for you. At 5th level, you gain a +4 insight bonus on Appraise checks, Spellcraft checks to identify magic items, and Use Magic Device checks. At 10th level, you add fabricate to your list of spells known. At 15th level, you add half your oracle level to your CMD against steal APG combat maneuvers and to the DC of Sleight of Hand checks to take items from you.

This actually forces dramatic change in character appearance as your character becomes more powerful.

I'd probably bump up the rate at which it increases, I'd probably bring it up by a multiple of ten or so, since 600 gp clothes are basically nothing at level 20.

The other effects of the curse are meh, interesting but whatever.

This effect seems like a great way to make someone really focus on what their character looks like, imagine what a lewd Wizard would look like walking around in 60,000gp clothes, just fucking flaunting it.
>>

>We need more armor
>Okay we melted down all the metal in the castle
>We need more armor
>Okay, we made armor out of the bones of the slaves who've starved to death and we ate because we've been under siege for fucking months.

And then the dude went out himself in his shiny new bonemold armor because there was literally nobody else left and he lasted for quite a while before dropping dead.

Ustalav, Nidal, Mwangi Expanse.
>>
>>51350713
>Kill this man. Starting with his family.
>Make him watch

The difference is about a point of damage normally. An attack, additional feat requirements, and an entire stat to damage, are not worth a feat. It's not even a feat anyways, it's roughly a trait at most on average between simple and martial weapon users.

Even then, the exotic crossbows (exotic weapons are better than martial weapons because they require an additional feat has often been touted, as false as it often is) are not only still worse than the bows, they're even worse than the crossbows two rungs down.

If "because it's mechanical" - probably your next disgusting claim from the short list of ever-repeated bullshit by the fuckwads who've been sucking d20's cock about this ever since they got convinced that things like againcourt was won by longbows and not by shit tactics, weather and a literally uphill battle (the archers got plenty of kills.... with their melee weapons) - then bows, which are ALSO mechanical, shouldn't get strength to damage either anyways. Nor should any kind of lever or spring action such as one might find on, say, a sword, or a flail.
>>
>>51352975
I played Morrowind back when it first came out. Such a great game. The GotY edition is only 15 bucks on Steam. And all you really need to play it on modern machines is OpenMW. Though there are other mods out there to make it look more like a modern game, I like just using OpenMW for that "pretty much vanilla" experience.
>>
So I've settled upon this degenerate build for Pendragon game:

>Base Mystic
>because guns are a simple weapon I can just go with them without needing to be gunsmoke mystic
>Veiled Moon
>Tempest Gale
>Mithril Current
>Have a Armored Coat filled with 12 Dagger Pistols
>Using quickdraw I can draw and fire pistols during my attacks and drop them each time (no need for rapid reload)
>teleporting gun wielding dagger attacking bullshit

I watched some clips from RWBY to try and understand it and this was the build I came up with to fit? Does it work?

I also planned on the character being highly religious, but am unsure if this really fits with RWBY.
>>
>>51353130
That sounds pretty cool to me.

But... you're going to run into problems once everyone's expected to have enchanted weapons.
>>
>>51353130
Funny, it wasn't really something I noticed 'till recent episodes, but religion wasn't really much of a thing in RWBY--now we're finally getting a creation myth, and I do kind of find it makes sense that most people don't feel all that religious since the growth of actual civilization seems to be such a relatively recent event.
>>
1-5: Adventurer
5-10: Conquerer
10-15: King
15-20: God
>>
I may have had a flash of insight. Instead of a human who is actually related to dragons, what if I go with a tiefling who pretends to be part dragon to allay suspicions?
>>
>>51353165
I have a plan for once enchanted weapons are a thing. It involved magic item creation however. If that doesn't work I switch to dagger revolvers (and ask if that works).

>>51353188
See that's the problem. I planned for a character who was fanatically religious. Pucci level of fanaticism.

Religion predates civilization
>>
>>51352632

Who's the 3rd vamp?
>>
>>51353236
Religion necessitates people acting as groups, and having questions about the world they can't answer, thus resorting to religion to explain them.

>>51353236
Beliefs and rituals can, but organized religion? That requires something a little more than a village that might not last through the next week and wandering bandits.

Okay, your argument holds up for the real world.

Now imagine that any negative emotions those people are feeling summons monsters, and any fear or dismay or anger felt while fighting those off just summons more.

And the monsters could be literally anywhere, even if you're all happy and content. And they're resistant to mundane weapons.

That's the kind of setting where your argument starts to look shaky.
>>
>>51353627
M8, that's the kind of world where HUMAN DEVELOPMENT looks shaky.

A protobro feels kinda down because he couldn't find a protobeast to eat, and some fucking shoggoth crawls out of his brain and eats him.

Which is why Humans got magic powers to help them survive.

It's more like they can literally smell your fear, but yeah. That's the reason why, in hindsight, it makes sense RWBY would be unlikely to have organized religion being a thing.
>>
>>51353727
Actually, if there's a real something to the religion, it's more likely to have adherents because the people involed would like have something protecting them.

Some deity or other protecting them lock enough for them to learn how to defend themselves? I can see that being a thing.
