Only Ogroid and Acolytes are what I'd call buff by average AoS standards, and the latter are explicitly described in the lore as scrawny wimps and fatmasters joining the cults to get ripped without going to gym.

(Magnus doesn't count because he's a Primarch).

Back during WHFB, my Dwarfs were exploring the Lustrian mountains jungles for some of that sweet, sweet lizard treasure.

When the End Times hit, they hitched a ride on one of the temple cities and settled in Azyr, eventually meeting up with Sigmar who they greeted as one would an old, long remembered friend.

They still stick to the old ways (square bases included) and generally look down on all these newfangled 'duardin' and their elfy-tollerant ways with disdain. But when Chaos came knocking, they were the first in the line of defence and the last to return through the gates. Now that the gates have re-opened, the last of the dawi have returned for a final reckoning.

>>
>>51329441
I really like these, think the white masks make them look really creepy like
>>
>>51329617

White undercoat, then a thick wash of agrax, then boltgun metal or similar over the whole thing.
then ryza rust followed by brown artist ink ,then a small drybrush of bultgun to highlight raised areas.

Then add in any bits of rust/wash/ect ect that you feel would finish the effect off.
This picture shows it a little better but it's pitch black right now and i'm not gonna get anything good on this phone camera.

How would a nighthaunt army even do? I'm thinking about doing one based on a mountain kingdom destroyed at the onset of the age of chaos, let in by a traitor. I feel that the Ghost army from Lotr would have the feel I want, using warriors for the spirit hosts, the king for the general/wraith, and a mourngul representing the traitor once again bound to serve the people he betrayed. My problem is the hexwraiths. The rider of the dead is a single model at a much higher price than what I'm comfortable using to get squads of 5. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Working on some fluff for a Chaos Dwarf army
Essentially, when the end times hit and the world got fucked, a splinter of em was lost in a realm without any actual resources whatsoever, and with nothing to mine or forge, Hashut was displeased with them, punishing them severely. In a last ditch effort to come up with something or face death, the Daemonsmith leader of this faction was able to bind the body and soul of one of his chaos dwarf soldiers into a fine, yet horrifying jewel, similar to making diamonds from ashes. This pleased the dark god, and so this faction set about, looking for any living creature they could find to make more horrifying jewels from. The more innocent and pure, the finer it shined and the greater it's brilliance. But each of these Jewels are obviously cursed for anyone not of chaos. Hundreds of years of roaming the realms and repeating this dark art, the faction grew to get a sick enjoyment of it, valuing the evil gems and desiring more for their dark hoard. Building a massive vault with wheels, they would sack entire villages, and burn the innocent into ashes, only to be pressed into these gems. Eventually, they learned how to forge living beings into their armor as well, as they had with daemons. These horrifying sets of armors and shields would contort like living flesh, as the damned souls trapped within would feel the pain of every blow. Now during the Age of Sigmar, this twisted splinter of Chaos Dwarfs still roam from realm to realm, looking for more innocent lives to forge into their gems, and add to their ever growing hoard of accursed treasure, all in the name of their dark god.

Modified list, thinking it seems fairly balanced in terms of things, but not sure. The basic jist being the Tzaangor Coven runs with a Shaman and the Sorcerer Lord babysitting it to give it buffs and whatnot, another Shaman sticks with the Acolytes to boost them, and the Ogroid goes where Ogroid pleases. Chariots serve to move and support and block and whatnot. I'm tempted to drop two for more Skyfires but I really want chariots just for the theme of the army and for the fun of conversion.

You need to set some points aside, because you're creating a new unit. If enough Pink Horrors are killed in one go, you can potentially tie up the enemy quite a bit. Just remember to keep the Bluies reinforced as pinks die.

Neat, but I will point out that the amount of time in between the old world exploding and the lizard man spaceships showing up is extremely long. The lizardmen starved to death, which is why they are resurrected by the Slann. I would add some stuff about either the Dwarfs somehow sourcing for millennia on the starships, or how they are made of Azyr energy, like the Seraphon.

>Who or what are your dudes?
A clan of Barbarians (Slaves to Darkness mixed with Khorne Bloodbound)

>What's the backstory to your dudes?
Some barbarians trying to survive in the madness that is the mortal realms. To them, Chaos gods are very real, so of course they worship them, but most aren't super devout. They go forth through the realmgates, looting, pillaging, and salvaging whatever they find. Those who surrender instead of fighting are sometimes taken captive, but usually just robbed of their possessions and left alone.

They have some allies with a group of very old quasi-immortal warriors based near a burial site near their village. The warriors claim to have served a mighty champion of chaos, so very long ago, but in the innumerable years since they have stood guard over the graves of their fallen comrades.

>And what models make up your dudes?
Mostly starter set bloodbound mixed with Marauder bits, lots of added shields, and some horses. I am still waiting on some parts to arrive to kitbash a warshrine.

If I ever get around to it, I'll pick up a blood bound box, some chaos warrior shields, some chaos knight halberds, and some cool heads to use for the Chaos Warrior allies.

Kek blessed this QUADS and slow melee army are now the new top tier,

On an unrelated note, I found something problematic with tzaangors.
The set contains
>2 greatblades
>2 mutants
>2 twitsbray

however the warscroll says
>Two in every five models in the unit can be armed with double‑handed Savage Greatblades.
>One in every five Tzaangors can be a Tzaangor Mutant armed with Paired Savage Blades. Tzaangors Mutants make 3 attacks with their Paired Savage Blades rather than 2.

This means every 10 models we can fit 4 savage greatblades, 2 mutants and 4 normal guys.

The kit is kind enough to give us the 2 MONSTROUS fucking MUTANT who makes 6 attacks 3+/3+ AND the beak attack (even khorne is jealous) if the unit is big enough (thank you GW), HOWEVER, there seem to be only 2 out of 4 greatblades per box, does this mean we have to use the leftover bitz from tzaangors skyfire to make more greatblades ?
Or does the box contain indeed 4 greatblades ?

A block of 30 could have a front row of 6 mutants (delivering 42!! attacks by themselves), then 12 greatblades tzaangors and finally 11 normal tzaangors and a Twistbray leader is that correct ?

>>51335884
Interesting. AoS is picking up in my area so I may look into it more thanks.
>>
>>51335747
That or buy some silver tower bits. But yeah looks that way. 30 seems a bit much because that's 18 models in contact, and with 1" range that's pretty hard to do. Unless you're going for some ridiculous Tzaangor Death Star list where you're buffing them to shit.
>>
Are Skyfires just too good not to include? Tzaangor coven seems too good to avoid.
I kind of want to try a list with some Knights and chariots instead. But it seems suboptimal compared to the sniping shenanigans you can do.
>>
>>51335932
I mean, I know this feel. I wish that Skyfires were in the Wychfire Coven because that would be fucking amazing.

That said, using Chariots for flavor. I'll likely try to make a near all beast army at some point. Or may model acolytes as Ungors or something.
>>
>>51335902
thing is 30 will probably only realistically be 20 after footslogging the board.
20 will be reduce to useless level once they manage to get close
>>
>>51335902
i guess 30 is better because you "kill" the normal ones when you got shot at, and once in close you still have all your mutants and all the greatblades
>>
>>51336198
I suppose that depends on your meta, in a shooty meta I agree. Then again, you should have much higher priority targets (distraction Lord of Change). I suppose we can only really know with play tests and tournaments. I'm a slow ass painter so by the time I need to decide, there will be a consensus on what's good or not ...

Perfect, pretty sure this is what I saw too. Thanks m8.

>>
All you dicefags are fucking retarded, holy shit.

There's 18 dice because 9 is Tzeentches magic number. 2 sets of 9.

There's also 9 because of the allegiance ability for Tzeentch: Destiny Dice. I'm not even going to explain it, the leaks have been out for a week now. Go read.

They are two tones to easily give you 9 for destiny dice, and you can use the other 9 for whatever the fuck have you. I personally am going to use blue for destiny, and yellow for casting/unbinding rolls (the yellow is easier for opponents to read.)

The Tzeentch symbol can be either a 6 or a 1. Typically the symbols are 1's on the special dice, but the skull pip matches the other pips (chaos symbols with circles inside for what side it is,) and if you hold the Tzeentch dice up to a normal d6, all the numbers match up, but you can make the symbol/skull line up with either 6 or 1. Like I said earlier though, logic dictates the Tzeentch symbol is the 1.

God damn you people can't be this retarded, can you? Please tell me I have merely been bamboozled.

Assuming you're meaning matched play.

>Are there compulsory unit type choices in AoS (like 40k's CAD and warhammer having Core units)

Yes, they're called Battleline units, depends on your point value with how many you need.

>Is there a maximum number of heroes in a force?

Yes, again, depends on the points value.

>Can you mix units with a grand alliance?

If you mean like mix units as long as they're all Chaos, or all Order, or all Death, than yes. Some forces have benefits for going to smaller ones, but you can theoretically play anything inside a Grand Alliance together.

My army consists of the Royal Court of Aserveti, a long and proud lineage of Vampires who can track their blood line all the way back Lahamia. Born in the breast of the original manifestation of the curse, the King Unkle Daeth was one of the first propogators of this peculiar line, and was known for his paranoid, whimsical and erratic behavior, and feared for his deadly schemes and plots. It was through him, that Lady Rosencrall was given the blood kiss, and through her marriage to King Thediadus, and subsequent converting of, that three new "children" were initiated into the family. The Eldest, Lord Rashall the Tormented, Lord Karick the Hunter, and Lady Ryzla the Uncouth.

During the coming of the End Times, Lord Theodiadus led his family in hunting down the enemies of Nagash, and in search of their legendary progenerator, Unkle Daeth. However, as they neared his location, they became locked in a tireless battle against the Skaven who were set upon them. As Archaeon ripped reality asunder, King Theodiadus was slain, and his family wrought him and themselves back into the tomb. Revealing himself, Unkle Daeth came to his lineage, impressed with their abillity, and explaining that he long forseen the end of this world, constructed his pyramid to survive the cataclysim. Taking their places within coffins, the coven of vampires were spared the brunt of the destruction. Hundreds of years passed, and now, the Daeth lineage leaves their tomb to meet the New World.

Slaanesh is the least popular of the Gods, that's for sure, but they deeply underestimated how many people like it.

Of course they don't sell well, all models are old expensive overpriced resin pieces of shit at the very best, and the plastic Daemons are ugly and static models, and come after the fan favourites Diaz Daemonettes.

Of course it doesn't sell well.

I literally can't remember my flgs having a single slaanesh box.. it's always been the only god that you need to make an order for.

I also don't remember the last time I saw a slaaneshi army, only a slaaneshi marked prince in the middle of a regular chaos army when it was OP but the price was most of the time painted black or something non slaanesh to get the op flavor of the month.

Honestly the Horned Rat is much more interesting than slaanesh ever was and could ever be.

Rak-Kalagak, Herald of Khorne, was summoned by chaos duardin who sought to bind the daemon as their servant. However, due to some fatal flaw in the ritual, or perhaps the influence of Khorne, the duardin instead became bound to the will of Rak-Kalagak!

Tales of the daemon who ruled mortals spread quickly across the realms, and soon mighty warriors flocked to Rak-Kalagak. They believed Khorne was watching over this daemon, and if they fought beside it, their deeds would be noticed and rewarded.

Who like Slaanesh has already bought everything years ago.

That doesn't change the fact that I know that as soon as new models came out people are going to be all over Slaanesh again.

I believe Slaaneshis are going to have something for the simple fact that I know Made to Order Diaz Daemonettes sold A LOT.

GW was known to be stupid. Like brick wall stupid. I could tell you some stories about they unbelievable idiocy.

Still working on mine. All I've got is that they're a Stormhost, possibly called the Skybreakers or the Lions Eternal, with their most prominent leader being Lord-Celestant Gilgamesh.

My GW is currently running a four month semi-Path to Glory campaign, using Star Collecting boxes (or equivalent) as the beginning warband, and we're rolling for new units every month. Currently, mine is made up of

>Lord-Celestant on Dracoth (Gilgamesh)
>5 Liberators
>3 Prosecutors with hammers
>5 Retributors (Led by Liberator-Prime Uther)
>5 Judicators

I plan to use the Path to Glory as essentially the founding story of my Stormhost, but no battles just yet. I also plan on adding a Lord-Relictor named Solomon at some point, and I have some Femcast mixed in, but no names just yet.

Sorry if it's a little scattered, this is almost brand new.

Hopefully GW will do something to fix the meta, and I say this as a Beastclaw player.

GW has always been painfully naive about tournament-level Warhammer. It's cute but frustrating when they show "competetive" warhammer matches on stream and it's always super-friendly lists.
Then, in the real world, a 1850 pts 40k game often ends turn 2 with one player not having lost a single model. And that's between 2 highly competetive armies.

Assuming the standard practices for GW, daemonettes, seekers and chariots won't change, so obviously we'd need to work from someplace else.
Now, a new plastic Keeper of Secrets is a given. Now, since there is no named KoS as of yet, maybe create one. Beyond that, one standard KoS with buffed stats, a la Unfettered Fury bloodthirster. Nother variant could have a random sadistic/masochistic special rule that causes mortal wounds to everything in range or lets it ignore lost wounds on the monster table based on a die role. Maybe armed with long-ranged whips.
Besides the KoS and maybe plastic Fiends I'd concentrate on the more mortal forces. Elves, for example, had a Cult of Slaanesh army list that was actually pretty cool. You could work from there, I suspect. Otherwise, lithe builds on the troops would still be desirable, since we've already had buff Tzeentchian and Khornate troops and I doubt Nurgle will do slim and elegant.
Dress just about everybody in super-sleek, elegant full-plate and add veils, duelling cloaks and flowing material everywhere. Every unit should look like it is as much a procession and a carnival as it is a military formation.
The obligatory god-specific marauder-equivalent could be near-naked wardancers with fans and scimitars or paired katars.
From there, integrate the stranger aspects like, say, naga-like troops (new Slaangors maybe?) or, if you are willing to break themes a little arachne/drider troopers.
Extrapolate the rules frim there, but I'd still put the basic tenets of Slaanesh down as 'hits hard', 'is fast' and 'has some really weird shenanigans'.

Because the best way to rebuild something is from the bottom up.
Human cultists give a solid identifiable core to an army.

Once you have them you can re do the seekers into 6 legged horses with flowing manes of gold that turn into vipers at their tips.

You can have guided palanquins born aloft by 4 eye less 4 armed slaves who follow incence burners hanging in front of them ,drawn by inhuman smells that feed promises through all their senses.

You can have demons in silk and gold wearing masquerade masks and bearing trays of food and wine in one hand with horrible crab claws on the other.

But to support all that you gotta have cultists.

better non shit rules chariots a reduction in points cost.

new models for Fiends and a steep points cost reduction, probably better rules for them too.

as for a new something akin to the disk riding Tzaangors and Kurnoth Hunters I'm sure GW can throw some absurdly over preforming under points cost gimic together to skyrocket sales for the new faction.

I think a strong bravery reducing mechanic for slaanesh forces would be appropriate, rework all the units and characters to give some ridiculous penalties to bravery with some mechanic to force bravery checks constantly with bad penalties for failing.

This would be cool I think.

The author actually made that exact change in the updated version. I've yet to download it but if you google it it'll come up.

I am a little jealous. A wych army is something I've always wanted to do, but they're shitty in both 40k and AoS, and when they were good in 40k, I couldn't afford them.

This is like an updated Mordheim aight?
>>
>>51348553
Kind of. It's someones homebrew skirmish system. I think they said it was more inspired my necromunda than mordheim as they had never played the later, but it seems solid to me.
(and the maker clearly knows GWs book layout style inside and out.)

I'd recommend googling it and getting the updated version.

Which is funny because Warhammer Fantasy was also plagiarizing as fuck. Hell, the Dark Elves is directly based on Michael Moorcocks Melbonéans.
