Does anyone have a definitive answer to whether or not these are canon and if so, who are the canonical winners of the games with multiple options.

Only relevantly backed up answers please.

Why does it matter?

40K? Canon? Lel.

>whether or not these are canon
If you want them to be, sure why not? GW canon is going to shit anyway; best to pick and choose for yourself.

But Blood Angels won all of the Dawn of Wars except Soulstorm, which went to the Imperial Guard.

The same presumably goes for DoW2, Space Marine seems to confirm it.

>>
>>45013041
Do you count the FFG RPGs as canon?
>>
>>45013041
To answer this you would have to estabilish a clear line to mark out canon from not canon.

If by canon we take everything published or released in accordance to GW that doesn't contradict the smaller circle of material published or released specifically by GW itself then I guess it is.

If by canon we take only material from the already mentioned smaller circle then they are not, but the blood ravens as a name and colour scheme for a chapter canonically exist in this.

If you want to take my opinion about this: arguing about canon is stupid, as long as you have clear what's the source of the information you should be free to choose and discuss any material of an IP, be it "official", from a third party or fanmade.
>>
>>45013203
At the moment, more than the shit GW puts out.
>>
>>45013203
The difference is people like Abnett, Alan Bligh, and John French have written for FFG. Not to mention it could be argued that the first few books, which were published by Black Industries, are as canon as any FW book.

The Blood Ravens aren't in Winter Assault, unless you're counting the novelisation by Goto, where they appear at the Titan via Webway and revile that the Ultramarines escorting the Titan crew where actually from Alpha Legion all along.

>>45013226
Then yes they are. The entire Blood Raven write up treats them as canonical... even though they take place after Deathwatch, making the history all in the future.

>>45013267
I was asking because the RPGs assume they are, so if the RPGs are canon, then it's a point in their favour.
>>
>>45013323
Well of course they are, the entire smurf chapter are really alpha.

The Chapter that is impulsively obsessed with record keeping has absolutely no records of where they came from and has a hard on for psykers and collecting heretical artifacts...

How has an Inquisitor not BLAMMED them already??
>>
>>45013719
I wish I could forget everything I've ever read about that book. It's so fucking stupid.
>>
>>45013755
They do.

And each time, they keep coming back. There's an entire Ordo dedicated to trying to figure out what the fuck's going on.

As far as they can figure out, they're a kind of parasitic reality. The chapter was founded by all of the first founding chapters, but in different timelines. They've lost battles which they won, and vice versa.

OP wants to know which endings were canon for the games? ALL OF THEM.
>>
>>45013755
Nasty things happen to Inquisitors who try.

>This Garm-pattern bolt pistol bears the sigils of the Imperial Inquisition. It was discovered in the Blood Raven Fortress on Cyrene Secundus, near the body of a murdered Inquisitor. It has proved to be an effective weapon, in spite of its dark origins.

"The Executioner of Heretics is a Bolt Pistol belonging to the Blood Ravens Chapter. The Executioner of Heretics bears the sigils of the Imperial Inquisition and was discovered in the Blood Ravens' Fortress-Monastery on the planet Cyrene Secundus, near the body of a murdered Inquisitor. It has proved to be an effective weapon in spite of its dark origins"

Ummm that keeps happening, tis why the blud rehvans remain unpurged.

There's also universes where Gabriel Angelos became chapter master much earlier. (Chapter Approved)

There is no ultimate authority on what is and isnt canon.

For me, Forgeworld books are all canon, I pretty much agree with everything they write. I also consider the Black library's Horus Heresy series to be canon. I know I've disagreed with a couple details in the series, but for the most part I'm ok with the HH novels. I feel the same way about the Night Lords Omnibus.

I've read a few of the BL books with the white cover, and they were pretty awful. It was like I was reading a really long comic book, with no pictures. I dont put much credence in any of the other BL books, but I havent read every single thing theyve published.

I dont think theres anything wrong with cherrypicking bits of fluff to create the universe as you see it. For example, I omit a lot of the retarded Grey Knights shit from their GW codexes. Dudes soloing Daemons in the warp and all that dumb shit. I also have my own version of the Dark Angels story, and so on.
>>
>>45014494
>not really much to fill out the Codex.

>Thousand Sons allegations
>incident at Cyrene
>Tartarus campaign, Akios' Treason and the Maledictus
>Kronus campaign and the "green on blue" on Victory Bay
>Kaurava massacre
>Aurellian Crusade
>Kyras' Treason, Diomedes' Redemption and Angelos' Ascension to Chapter Master

There's more in there than the "muh Fallen" Dark Angels and "Wolfy McWolven Wulf" Space Yiffs.
>>
>>45014416
>More than minis I want a Blood Ravens codex

Just paint them as Blood Ravens, and use the Space Marines or Blood Angels Codex. Making those characters would be easy. Use an existing SM or BA characters profile, and just call him whatever the guy from the video games name is.
>>
>>45014443
change org is different and is worth a shot. Gotta give the shot!

But I need help, I need someone that can use photoshop and put the following on this image:
#BloodRavensMini and the icon for the blood ravens at it's side. I will provide pictures.
>>
>>45014515
The hammer of Fulgrim sure as shit sounds like the kind of thing that would try to "lure" people into using it, all it takes is one retard psyker, who thinks he can resist the call of Chaos while using it for the good of the Imperium, to fuck shit up for everyone.
And the Astartes have no shortage of the self-righteous, and this particular Astartes has no shortage of psykers either.

If the Inquisiton found it even still existed or had half a clue where it "might" be, they'd Exterminatius the whole fucking planet just because.
>>
>>45014550
If i may ask, which of the Space Marine Battle books did you read? I've read the vast majority of them and found there's a fairly equal number of good and bad ones.

Good:
Rynn's World
Helsreach
Battle of the Fang
Legion of the Damned
Wrath of Iron
Architect of Fate
Death of Integrity
Bad:
Hunt for Voldorius
Fall of Damnos
The Gildar Rift
The Siege of Castellax
The Purging of Kadillius
Malodrax
The World Engine

No, they are very different from blood angels and there isnt a good mini to be used as gabriel angelos.
We want an ACTUAL Blood ravens mini.
It's easier for the Bloody magpies to get rules than a model and since Gabriel Angelos is their chapter master now then he is fitting to become the lead figurine.
>>
>>45014603
Are the Blood Ravens in DW2?
I only played the first series of Dawn of War, got the whole box set of the games in a closing downsale of some games shop for like €10, 14(or however fucking old I was) year old me was pretty happy.
>>
>>45014706
>We want an ACTUAL Blood ravens mini.
I'm pretty sure it's just you.
>>
>>45014717

Except the Blood Ravens have the power of plot and a major design studio behind them, allowing them to make GW money, so the rules of the setting no longer apply.
>>
>>45014812
I'm kinda surprised they didn't make a special edition of Dawn of War that came with a squad of Blood Ravens or a mini of Gabriel
>>
>>45014869
they aren't doing that for Total War either.
>no Simon mann goblin mini
>>
>>45014275
That's a pretty retarded idea, on multiple levels.
>>
>>45014515
Merely possessing a weapon forged by friggin' Fulgrim himself is some top tier heresy.
>>
>>45015258
The Ordos Hereticus would get a fucking Ordos Herectionus if they ever found out.
>>
>>45014275
Honestly if they ever come out with DoW3, it certainly would be quite a good idea on GW's part to have in the most basic version of the game rules for using the character in the game on the tabletop, and have a more expensive version that comes with one mini of which you could have quite a few versions (a blood raven version, a gaurd version, an ork version, a chaos version, and eldar version etc.) and finally have a ultimate edition which would have the game and all the models in the lower tier and then some (alternatively you could still do the same thing as before and have one for each army, but have more than one character, for instance the DoW2 equivalent for the blood ravens would probably include models of the force commander, cyrus, thaddeus, tarkus, avitus and maybe a few others).
Good way to squeeze a few more dollars out of people and an incentive for people who like DoW and warhammer but don't play the tabletop game to get into the tabletop game
>>
>>45014909
Why would they make minis for a game that takes place in a now dead world?

>>
>>45014407
The highly detailed descriptions of their eyeballs getting sliced out or exploding were also kind of fun.
>>
>>45016627
Thanks to DoW2 we know the blood Ravens didn't win.
Sisters couldn't have won because GW would never allow anything good to happen to the SoBs.
Xenos winning would be heresy; moreover if xenos had won they would have never left any space marines alive, and we know that some space marines survived the events of soulstorm, ergo no xeno race could have won, same logic applies to chaos.
Therfore the only logical victor of soulstorm is the imperial gaurd.
>>
>>45017046

there is no logic at play here

stop typing that drivel

we have zero canon source that says IG won please stop spreading misinformation
>>
>>45017203
We have no canon that says they didn't win. We only know that the blood ravens for sure didn't win.
Because of this, saying the IG won is just as valid as saying that any other non-blood ravens army won. So while I may have no ground to stand on, neither do you. Both of us are equally right and wrong.

Which makes me really wish they made a large scale epic like RTS with more grand scale yet still specific battles where smaller scale fights matter like boarding parties, stealth missions, urban assault etc.

IIRC, Gabriel was listed as the Chapter Master in a source book shortly before retribution came out.

Winter Assault: Eldar, Taldeer is being hunted by Alexander for her crimes against the Imperium. Also, Gorgutz has Crull's skull in Dark Crusade.

Dark Crusade: Blood Ravens won, as mentioned in DoW2

Retribution: Blood Ravens won. Gabriel is Chapter Master and their Index Astartes article mentions that fact.

Their Chapter Tactics would be similar to Exorcists in that they choose any existing Chapter Tactics before a battle.
>>
>>45013041
I can't say if they're canon or not in the largest 40k universe, but

1) Boreale lost and died in the kuravara campaign, according to dow2.
2) The Blood Ravens won Kronus. I don't remember where it's said, but i remember being said that there were problems with the purging of the imperial guard, and obviously Eliphas and the necron lord were killed in the dark crusade, while Thule is alive.
3) Dow2 was won by the blood ravens, since otherwise dow2: chaos rising wouldn't make sense.
4) The canon traitor is Avitus. Dialogues in retribution confirm it; also, while there is no force commander, there are both cyrus and tarkus, the former in penance. So we can extrapolate that the canon ending is the middle one, where the squad isn't fully pure nor fully corrupted.
