KoW actually would work well in a scaled down version and the cheapness of models would make it a game with the buy in cost similar to trading card games. You could probably get a 2k point army for under 100 dollars which is more than enough for battles.

Well, I added the new 2e book (bookmarked) to my folder.
It doesn't have the list as silly bookmarked (ie, per-unit) as the old lists (Those are in "Maybe Obsolete Files" now because I don't know if they changed, or what) mostly because I don't feel like doing that right now considering it's of dubious worth with ctrl-f and online lists and it's a a lot of work anyways.

Also like I said last thread, the Uncharted Empires is bookmarked.
If you guys wanna use mega (presumably somebody actually active in the thread manages it?) I advise at least using my bookmarked files. Or is there some problem with them?

Drew up this list for Nightstalkers. It's probably not great, but its mostly just a monster mash list, designed to keep model/unit count low so I can get my feet wet with the system.

Not many people have experience with Night Stalkers. They're definitely the most unique army Mantic have offered so far.

If you think about it KoW actually makes much more sense at a smaller scale as you don't actually need individual models. The only reason that it's 28mm is to be able to sell WHFB proxies and charge a higher price.v Rules wise it's a waste of space to play this at anything larger than 15mm.

I'm planning to get the Orc Army and I have some leftover Orcs from one of the whfb starter boxes to make 2 troops of Skulks, two Flaggers and one War Drum.

Two new free agents for this season of Dreadball were revealed today. Also sounds like there will be two special court rules for two new planets. Only ever played it with a standard court and ref myself, but my play group is thinking of doing a league.

So does anyone play Dungeon Saga? I had a couple of rounds with it and felt it was very good. I particularly like how resilient skeletons and other undead are in that you have to hit them good and proper to have an effect.
Compare it to the resilience of the terminators in that recent terminator game and we see a much better method for dealing with enemies that are extra tough and likely to get back up again after you strike them down.

I thought the hero models were awful though and immediatly replaced the dwarf with Drong the Hard, the Barbarian with a Slayer dwarf, the wizard with a bright wizard and the ranger with a waywatcher. Better visualization improved enjoyment immediately.

I always loved the idea of herohammer, at least in the sense that it posits heroes as isolated, pivotal figures amongst greater armies. One or two in an army is enough and I'd stop there. It lends a mythic quality to the games where, as with great battles of classical myth, the key factors are which heroes were there on what side and what they did. Achilles, Hector, Ajax, ect. Its great if you're ready to invest a lot of thought into your heroes.

I can't speak to how it plays though; I am less interested in that than the mythic quality.

I just mean in terms of balance- if games are confined, and based mostly around smaller units, heroes are going to be worth more, because they are a lot of strength for not a lot of frontage. Stuff like Vampires on Dragons, Elf Kings, would be near impossible to stop.

I've been playing it with two different groups and so far have really enjoyed it. With the Adventurer's Companion it also has rules for making your own heroes that you can customize through leveling if you're looking to make your party your own.

Dwarfs are weak against fast armies, like Forces of Nature and Nightstalkers. They tend to be unit light and rely heavily on shooting, so if you get in close fast you can just beat them down.

Got about 2000 points of unassembled Skaven for $50 when the Age of Sigmar rule pdfs were released from a guy quitting GW products over it. Finally getting around to assembling them as a Ratkin army in the last few weeks. Almost all of the infantry is clan rats and plague monks, so still debating what I should do for other infantry options model-wise, but I figure getting all this other stuff together will take a while so I'm in no hurry.

You kidding me? Dwarves are pretty underplayed and did terrible in the tourney.

Gunlines are really inefficient in this for point cost. First off: Don't have an army of nothing but low nerve that can't take one volley. Save those for actual chaff. Secondly: Actual chaff. Use it. Same with sponges. Most of the "problems" people have with this game stem from them not realizing they need to use some unit they're ignoring. There's actually no useless/weak units in this, low De units waste high CS and vice versa.

Slow armies are weak: Exploit the shit out of pre-measuring and charge ranges. Anything but Undead runs circles around Dwarves, you should be able to always get the first charge. Dwarf actually have really good cavalry which is their one exception in this regard.

De 6 isn't hard to counter, especially against slower armies, I'm guessing the tryhards are doing a decent job using earth elementals to screen? Flying and nimble units can skip the bullshit and get right to the sweet meats of their formation. Just don't rely too heavily on ranged (war machines) with piercing to directly counter high De units. Otherwise anti-armor is generally both cheaper and faster than De 6, the not-dwarves are not good enough at deployment or maneuvering.

Don't forget to take allies to fill roles.

You could just build movement trays with round slots. Then you wouldn't need to rebase your Retribution models and could just use them as Ironleaves.

My Seaguard based Elf force has been struggling against them. 3 losses, 1 win, 1 draw. Those same Elves utterly minced a Ratkin army in the only other game I've played with them. They don't seem to be an insurmountable challenge though. Some cavalry or flyers to threaten their shooters or a war machine to shoot back should manage their mischief pretty easily.

Only their elites get Def 6+ anyway and they don't actually hit hard at all.
