Do any famous people post on /tg/?

I think that there's been some pretty suspect posts that were likely from Vin Diesel a couple times.

Other than that, I'm sure there are, but no reason to really figure it out.

That questions holds no purpose. Even if there were (and hell, I really think there are), it'd be pretty mch impossible to know, unless they voluntarily posted their own faces to prove it. But why would they?
>>
There is little evidence of ones that do. There is no real reason for them to show who they are. I know that there have been a few, but I can't really recall who they are off the top of my head.

There are some game devs who are regulars on here, though. Or at least used to be. There has been evidence of this in the past.

Robin Williams and Vin Diesel both posted here. Neither did it openly, but they confirmed it when I asked them.

Robin Williams was apparently a really lite poster, and he didn't say much about it. Just said he knew about /tg/ and posted here on occasion, mostly just to talk about his interests.

Vin Diesel, on the other hand, had all sorts of positive things to say about /tg/. He was kind of upset that you had to be really cloak and dagger about 4chan instead of how open you can be about posting on Reddit, but he definitely preferred the former over the latter, even if our shitposters are a real nuisance. It's the sort of thing where he said I could tell people about him posting here, but only because he knew no would believe me.

Also, he was kind of bummed that we didn't really like his Witch Hunter movie, or at least we didn't really make a lot of threads about it. I didn't really know what to tell him, because I didn't really like it all that much myself, but I just told him that we would have really loved it if he was a little more open about posting here. He told me that he didn't really want us to like it just because of that though, and we started talking about some pretty deep stuff that actually surprised me was coming from the guy who thought he could pull off The Pacifier.
>>
>>44927547
I'm choosing to believe this.
>>
>>44927547
That actually sounds pretty legit. How do you know Vin and Robin btw?
>>
>>44927547
When the Witch Hunter trailers came out i said I liked the fact that Vin Deisel didn't seem to choose scripts that were necessarily good or Oscar worthy, but scripts that just seemed fun...

Still haven't seen Witch Hunter, wanted to but never got around to it
>>
>>44927719
"How did you know Robin?"

Fixed that for you.
>>
>>44927547
I can definitely buy Robin Williams having posted on /tg/, especially after hearing about how he'd basically proselytize to co-stars about tabletop gaming and cajole them into playing RPGs and wargames with him.

Vin less so. I don't think he really keeps abreast of /tg/ stuff, as much as he has a great love for AD&D. In that short game he did with Critical Role he seemed out of practice.

>>
>>44927547
I choose to believe that you are actually Vin Diesel posting in the third person.

Please play with me Vin, you seem like a fun guy to play with.
>>
>>44927719

I actually "know" a lot of famous actors, which is more to say I've had a chance to speak with them, which isn't all that surprising since I'm a costume tech. I was actually largely in charge of Dan Stevens in Night at the Museum, and I did a lot of gruntwork with my team for Riddick for a short time before we found out that they couldn't afford to keep us.

I bet if I asked more people, I'd have a short list of famous people who've browsed /tg/, but those were the two where it just sort of fell into the conversation, since I knew Williams was a bit of a geek and Diesel is a goddamn nerd.
>>
>>44927016
Of course, you'll never know it's them because they don't tripfag.
>>
Scott Lynch and Aaron Dembski-Bowden have posted here before, if that counts for anything.

Relic devs and the writers of Dark Heresy.

>>
>>44928291
I have no doubt that Vin is a pretty deep-cut nerd from way back, the problem is that...he doesn't really know how to translate that into work that resonates with nerds.

I mean, Riddick is cool and all, but none of his decisions for what movies to do and what publicity to pull shows that he really "gets" nerds, probably because he spends so little time around them.

I think it's more like, he is really into all this stuff like sci-fi and fantasy, but when you ask him to talk about it, he can only think up terrible, cliche, or boring ideas that don't really show a keen grasp of what is and is not actually cool or interesting.

I love the guy, he's just really bad at being a nerd.
>>
>>44927867

I don't know about that from lots of the interviews and stuff I have seen of him he seeme's to be a pretty intense nerd, and on the incredibly unlikely chance he would ever be reading this I just want to say that Vin Diesel really is a grea/tg/uy in my book

If you're in this thread Vin I liked the Last Witch Hunter. I'd play DnD with you any day.
>>
Ya know, I think a lot of actors would probably enjoy playing D&D. It seems like it would be just up their alley. Not to mention that they would have a TON of inspiration to draw from for characters.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some secret floating D&D game in Hollywood where a bunch of actors meet up. I imagine they'd use old scripts as ideas for campaigns, with them playing and seeing how close they can get to the original ending. It would even be possible for them to come up with their own ideas for movies from their games. I just wonder how many movies have actually come from just that sort of situation.

Oh, and by the way... Vin, dude, if you're in here. I would totally be perma-DM for any game you and whoever you invite. I don't care what system you'd want to play, I'd roll it.

The movie is fine. The video game, remarkably, was INCREDIBLY well-received and is considered very high quality to this day. Vin said at one point that he personally oversaw the game's creation in order to ensure that it does NOT come out as "another shitty movie based game."

It worked too well for him. The games are nearly universally considered better than the films.

I'm not at liberty to name names, out of respect for the individual in question.

My RPG group has a well-known member. We met this person online when looking for some new blood, they didn't advertise who they were but we found them eventually joining in because they had a pretty good profile and the character they presented was neat.

We suspected it was who we thought it was from their voice and mannerisms, but didn't want to A) derail the shit out of the game or B) scare off what had turned out to be a fun player. An accident with cameras turning on revealed our suspicions, and luckily the rest of us kept chill enough for there to be no resulting panic.

But yes. There are famous people on /tg/, famous people playing tabletop RPGs, and famous people doing pretty much every other thing that other people do, both on and off the internet. Just treat them like everyone else, respect their choice to not go named or not talk about their jobs, and carry on.

It has a quote on the previous page. A quote from the Vindicare Assassin LIIVI.

Could you at least say what they're famous for? Acting? Music?

I feel like you're the third or fourth person ITT implying Vin Diesel.

Have they ever been on Critical Role?
>>

It's not Vin Diesel. They're an actor, and they're known to be a nerd. I don't believe they've been on Critical Role, but I'm not familiar with that particular program. I'm not about to ask.

i just imagined GW marketing/economic department recreating southpark's Comcast nipple fondling scene - when they notice 'fucking GW, prices per model rose AGAIN' threads.

As far as I'm aware he's not that much of a regular though.

>I'm not at liberty to name names
The kicker is that even if you posted it, no one would believe you. The double kicker is, even if people believed you, what could they possibly do about it? Track down said celebrity and harass them into rolling some dice?

It's probably more anon doesn't want to scare off the famous person. They clearly value their privacy, based on the story, so I imagine if they knew anon was telling everyone they were in his group, they'd just leave.

Much as I like Jim Butcher, putting quotes like that on the front of the damn book screams tacky and desperate to me.
Now I have to check this shit out though, since Jim likes it.
