Of course I would, I'm playing imagination with a bunch of nerds around a digital table. I'm not going to pull a punch because we're all reasonable adults that know it's all pretend.

Any recommendations for making Technology from the Technology guide more usable? I was thinking of combining all the colossal artifacts into one for the purpose of creation, and making it easier to find a power source.

Any suggestions on trimming down the prices? 72k for a +6 item is twice as much, while still taking a slot, though it isn't affected by AMF.

I also suggested unchained rogue, but my DM gave some asspull excuse why he didn't suggest it. My running theory is that he loathes anything he isn't 100% familiar with, which makes sense because he's running a campaign in pathfinder despite it being ostensibly NOT a pathfinder campaign.

Looking for advice on a taldan duelist build /tg/ i found a good fighter archetype that works with falcata and buckler but i talked to my DM and he said hed let me make a swashbuckler who can use a buckler and a falcata with weapon finesse. Should i go fighter or swash?

I'm a simple man, so even just whipping together a generic fantasy world would appeal to me. I mean, I have a few notes stashed away that basically amount to:

Literally only a problem in places with urban decay, like Missouri, and usually because police forces are so horribly underfunded that only the ruthless cheats stay in, or the precinct has to suck the teat of private funding. Further, in said districts with decay, the hatred between police, many of whom where also from a low-off background, and the poorer minorities feeds into each other in a reverse feedback loop that's further stoked by psycophants in media exacerbating this divide. This is literally not a problem outside of these large urban decay centers.

I focus on Shattered Mirror, Cursed Razor, and Eternal Guardian.

I have been thinking about Cursed Razor Style (only the first one).

Thoughts?

Our balance point has never been fighter, rogue or monk. Just take a look at the archetypes for those classes in PoW:E if you want proof. You get a lot more than you give on those archetypes.

But you can out-damage even a novaing magus if you abuse the right maneuvers from Primal Fury and Broken Blade and that's something we don't want to see.

No one really cares about the race/gender/sexuality. People do note what happens though because indirectly Paizo exhibits its own forms of racism/sexism etc. Indirectly, the chart shows some things that would be capable of categorization in that sense.

For example, as stated before females (and MTF Trans) are predominantly placed in positions of divine magic. A quick look at this confirms that: the ratio of female-male-trans is 5-2-1. Characteristically divine magic is intimately connected with spirituality and Conjuration (Healing) or the various life-giving spells. That is to say, that by predominantly placing women in these roles it is following the same old trope of viewing femininity as creative or nurturing in a sense, that it is the empowering force within the setting. It is the wise and intuitive magic.

One could even go further by looking upon Alchemy, another class of magic sometimes ascribed to creative motives. Here Paizo emulates a conception of womb envy - or male jealousy of the feminine potential to create life, by not only placing alchemy in the position of a lesser magic (by which I mean having access to no 9th level casters), but also consistently penalizing the magic in their various rulings (ie. all the various Alchemy =/= magic scenarios). This leaves it in the position of a reduced proxy - a singular reminder that the masculine can never truly grasp nor replicate the procreative forces available to femininity.

To cement this ideal of femininity as the dominant influence within regards to creation or nurturing, we can look further by examining the male iconics which hold places within this category of divine magic and what we will witness is that they are assigned to both Tier 3 and 4. Once again, Paizo has given the masculine a taste but not more than a sip - for both their potentials are limited - a man may heal the wounds of his comrades but may never truly breathe life into them with the efficacy the feminine can.

To elaborate, whilst the Summoner gains access to creation spells above his spell level, he lacks the creative influence of cures or resurrections. He doesn't create life or restore it, he pulls it from another plane of existence. Again, like Alchemy, the summoner attempts to glimpse the feminine quality of life-giving only to fall short. Necromancy however is dealt with in a more discriminatory fashion - its evil. The restoration of life or creation of life in regards to animation of undead is arguably deemed an act of rebellion against mother nature, and the Devs have stepped in to assert a few times, that such magic is inherently negative - that is there is no such moral flexibility in necromancy - it is undeniably an evil act. Good necromancers are simply non-canonical within the setting.

The closest arcane magic comes to mastering this nature of procreativity is in the witch - who unsurprisingly is female. Once again, the masculine will never truly understand nor command the powers of creation available to the feminine.

It is the reassertion of a tired old trope. Nothing more, nothing less. It stereotypes women indirectly, and fails to really subvert any ideals on the notion of femininity.

His actual reasoning is that because all of the example curses from Bestow Curse are numeric in nature, the implication is that Bestow Curse can only ever apply numeric penalties. A curse like "Never speak of X event again" or "Never come here again" were the sorts of things I had in mind, although I never brought up the subject of something like "Take -X to stat whenever you are in this area". I still doubt that would have worked though, as he described those effects as not curses but potential trigger conditions for the higher level spell Mark of Justice.

I can't even begin to comment, because we lack information about just how badly you've failed. All I know right now is that somehow you allowed a party to beat themselves against the same dungeon over and over, and TPK'd them every single time. You cannot salvage that, that campaign is long since over.

If anything, you need to start from scratch and maybe realize that, if a fight would TPK a party, and likely send you into the downward spiral you're in now, THROW THE FIGHT. Have the monster beat on them for a while, then have it go down when it tries to use some sub-optimal attack or tactic, and allow the players to win. There's nothing else you can do. A TPK removes people from the game, they no longer care about what they're playing.

I'd have to see the whole session from start to finish to critique everything you do wrong.

My thing has always been, if it doesn't bear mentioning why bother. An addendum to this is I dislike when something goes out of its way to attempt to be "equal"...like if say a work uses one of those alternative pronouns or if it bounces in sections between he and she (the smaller the section, the more noticeable/jarring this is up to around like the chapter level where it's not really noticeable).

He wouldn't accept that, because our group has a pretty strict "Paizo-published material only" policy (when he's running, at least). Actually, he doesn't even allow all Paizo material, as all non-core races, gunslingers, hybrid classes, and occult classes are banned too. Anything he feels is too powerful is also banned, although that's a relatively short list that we generally agree on, like Sacred Geometry. He did decide that magi shouldn't get an extra weapon attack from using Spell Combat with Spellstrike in the first session I joined the group, though.

This whole post kind of paints him in a worse light than I'd like it to, but given what I know of /pfg/'s generally attitude I'm sure most people in this thread would probably quit a game he was running if they were playing in it. No, those aren't banned for being too powerful. They're banned for a combination of him disliking the flavor and also not wanting to have to learn a whole new set of classes and mechanics. The hybrid classes are banned for the second reason (and the first reason, in the case of some like the bloodrager), the gunslinger is banned for the first reason. Non-core races are banned because he feels that PCs should become special by virtue of their actions, not because of their unusual race. He has allowed a couple exceptions to his core-races only rule though.

If he just wants to rapid-switch all his stuff, ask if he mostly wants to swap movement around; if that's the case trailblazer is basically at-will reconfigure of the mobility options.

What do you do when you need to come up with a character concept and realize you don't have any fresh, original ideas?

For example, I'm trying to come up with a character for a high-powered (as in the stats are incredible) campaign where all the magic items are divine artifacts and rare as such, and all I know about the general plot is it's fairly typical "stem the tide of evil" but I don't know exactly what that evil is.

My noggin' is working, but all I can think of is lame shit like Lizardfolk Warder Swordmasters or professional hitmen Human Slayers.

If he's going full Int, maybe point him at the Host of Heroes, which upgrades the energy blast to have soft debuffs based on Int and lets it be used with initiator's soul. Lets you get more bang for your buck from having a high mental stat on a martial (and ranged rouch attacks helps if you max it at the expense of physicals).
