There's no time, not enough time for anything. You beckon Sera over to you and she embraces you tightly, surprised tears rolling down her cheeks. Your own throat feels tight, but you push past it to try and say something encouraging.
"Sera-" You draw a breath as you realise how much emotion has crept into your voice and start again. "Sera, I know parting is hard. I'm going to miss you, but I know you're going to make me proud. I'm sorry I can't teach you myself, but I believe with Soqed's instruction, you will become skilled and great. I'll explain everything to your mother and sister and to Noh as well. I'll always love you, daughter. Now go with the wolf and be everything you can."
You cannot stop a few tears from spilling from your sightless eyes at the end. Sera gently wipes them away and kisses your cheek. "I'll learn everything I can, da. I'll be back before you know it. Please, just... Look after yourself while I'm gone, won't you?"
"I will, daughter," you nod, patting her head and standing. You turn your head to Soqed, who has been standing, waiting for you to finish. "You'll ensure no harm comes to her."
"I will not promise that," Soqed replies. "She will be one of the pack and all that entails. If she fails... But as long as you keep up YOUR end of the agreement, I will not harm her and neither will the pack." He glances down at Sera and sniffs. "This way, pup. grab onto my arm and don't let go, or I'll lose you in the crossing."

You wish you could have seen your daughter's face, as you feel her look back at you one last time, before the magic takes hold, and she and Soqed vanish into the wild, leaving you alone in the grove, your heart strangely heavy.

i cannot hold them

Our wife is about to be pissed
>>

You return to the village slowly, melancholy weighing on your steps. Explaining things to Beren will not be easy, but your wife is wise. She'll understand that Sera made her choice and it was a choice not only for what she wanted, but for the best possible future.

SLAP!

Your left cheek joins your right in a stinging, embarrassing burn. You're sure Galit has left a red handprint on both sides of your face as she and Beren sob. Sera is more composed, but still cries at her sister's absence and you suspect Noh is just joining in because everyone else is sad.
"She couldn't even say goodbye?!" snarls your brother's wife. You can feel her raising her hand for another slap, before Elia suddenly steps in, grabbing her wrist and hugging her tightly. Galit breaks down into floods of tears and goes to be with Beren, who is trying to dry her eyes and bury her sadness. Elia takes your arm and pulls you up from where his woman knocked you over, hurrying you out of the tent and in the direction of the nearest fire.
"I... Had expected Beren to be distraught," you gasp, "But Galit too?"
"...Beren never mentioned how she convinced Galit to join the family, did she?" asks Elia quietly as you both sit down. He sighs and relates the story to you.

Somehow, although he had no idea how, Beren found out Galit's great secret; the reason everyone in the clan thinks that Elia is so under her thumb as to not even mate with her... Galit is barren.
"We can't have children," Elia tells you in a quiet voice. "That's why she was forever leading me and everyone else on back in the day. We've tried, believe me, we've tried..." You don't need to be told. You share the same house after all and privacy can be at a premium... "But nothing. Then Beren was pregnant and asked Galit how she's like to be an aunt. She said she could raise Sera as like her own daughter. You may not have noticed, but for years, Galit's been happy, helping Beren in every way possible."
>>
>>44863140
"Now that's gone... At least she still has Ebba and Noh, but brother, please promise me... Promise me you'll tell no-one. I shouldn't have even told YOU. And promise me that the other two won't go anywhere. I don't want to see Galit like this again, ever..."

The first light snow soon begins to fall and the valley enters its long sleep. It is early winter. What will you do?

How much food do we have? If its not enough to get us to harvest, then fish.

If there us enough, checknout building a fence around the crops to keep the goats out. Which should I roll for?
>>
>>44863167
>See what the mood of the clan is like, talk to people and get to know them (free)

Check in on the herders especially

>Make offerings to a god

Make offerings to the whole pantheon honestly, all the gods we know of and try to make contact with the Bull, he should be easier to get in touch with now that there are herders living with us
>>
>>44863167
To elia;

"I will, never speak of this but it might be fixable. Consider a offering to the gods, it might not work but there is nothing to be lost of garnering their favour"

>Bring land under cultivation
>See what the mood of the clan is like, talk to people and get to know them (free)
>>
>>44863167
Do fields come with fences of any kind? Because if not we should build some. I'd like to know how long our food will last, now that Sera is gone. We should have an extra 14% yearly food surplus(if my math is right).
But either way:
>Talk to the herders and see if there is anything we can do to help.
If there isn't a quest hook or something we can help then with then go ahead and queue up another large field and start on a small (in that order).
>>
>>44863167
Also seconding >>44863276's:

Off the top of my head about 8 months of food i think, we had six and a bit before, right?
>>
>>44863471
>>44863225
You harvested 36 units this year and ate 4 in late fall, leaving you with 32, if I'm right... I should break out the old spreadsheets again.

You need another 2 units of MEAT, not grain, next late fall, to give to Soqed, or... Well, Sera might no longer be safe.

I'm the guy that asked. Rolling for fishing, then

>>

So do we need to worry about anything getting in our fields and trashing them or no?
>>
>>44863904
You very well might. There's nothing growing there right now however, so... No crops, no problem?

Or you could get on top of things right away. Up to you!

Calling the votes in another 15ish minutes. Good to see a lively thread!

So then yeah, Finalizing my vote as:
>See if the Herders need anything
and
>Build fences Point cost?
>>
Right then! Votes called and writing!
>>
>>44864079
Honestly we could just figure out how to build wattle fencing in a few minutes, after that we just make a shit ton and sell/give some to the herders to help them with their animals by keeping them penned in.
>>
>>44864241
That's a much better idea actually.
>>
>>44864344
I thought about mentioning it earlier on when we need to improve our houses, if this was not enough i would also suggest log cabin style construction
>>
It shouldn't be too hard to just make a fishing net style fence out of sticks and reeds
>>
Christ alive the votes are divided this time... I'll do a recount but to tide everyone over, here's the free actions.

"I won't speak of this to anyone, you have my word," you tell Elia, "But... It might not be incurable."
"How do you mean?" he asks, looking up in hope. "Wait... You mean you could use magic?"
"Possibly," you nod. "You've not met them, but Rhea, a new god, has the power to heal, far surpassing my own and that of the gods of the wild. But she seems to ask a price..."
"What difference is that to making offerings to Nila for good fishing, or Soqed for the hunt, or Lugal or Ulh for taking too many of their kin?" Elia asks. You simply shrug, remembering the quest Rhea set before you.
"You'll see. Do you want me to ask her?"
"Of course!" Elia scrambles forward, almost grabbing at you in desperation. "I may be aging, Trym, but I want a child and Galit does even more than me! If there is ANYTHING you can do, then I beg you as your brother, DO IT!"

You have little chance before winter comes however. With the cold winds and gusts of snow, you make your way to the herders, finding them cold and shivering in their lean-to, close around a fire. They're used to hardship and brought plenty of goatskin blankets with them, the warm, coarse and short wool fending off the worst of the cold, but they could be a lot better. They ask if your clan can help them in building better houses, like the ones you enjoy and for a little help keeping their herd close in the village and safe during the short days.
>>
>>44865202

Well just in response to these. A) Definitely as Rhea about fertility and B) Try to muster up some help for the houses and goats
>>

You said to treat the herders like kin as long as they stay in the village and you can't very well leave kin to freeze! You still remember the first winter you spent here, rather than further up the valley. Too many suffered and even died then. Acting quickly, you rally the villager you can and talk about getting the herders better accommodations. You meet a little resistance from those unwilling to put in the effort for strangers, but Mesut catches your eye and sighs. His support is small, essentially just reminding people that even if they are outsiders, who wants to have blood on their hands, but it motivates enough people. The weather this year is worse than usual, with driving sleet and snow and a bitingly cold wind, so no-one wants to, or even dares to make the trip to cut the trees for a full-blown house. Instead, the herders stay with your family, as their bivouac is upgraded to something more tolerable. It's wide and low, but hides still serve the same purpose as your own houses. It's clear it's not a living space though; more just a place to sleep and stay warm.

The good news however, is that the herders are quite taken by your charisma and Beren (once she's got over Sera's departure a little) is careful to be very welcoming, giving them the best possible impression of your tribe's hospitality.

Your reputation with the herders has improved a little!

It is now late winter. What will you do?

So call me crazy but the next time we try to summon or reach out to a god I'd like to try a god of music. Not sure if enough music has happened or is entrenched enough to have a god yet but those ones always have fun.

Also, as a way to help solidify our position of Godspeaker and tie our clan more into the ritual side of things, what do people think of dedicating our wedding and naming ceremonies to Nila? That way she watches over our clans beginning, middle, and ends.
>>
>>44868366
As much as I can manage, Mondays and Thursdays, 9pm onwards

It's still a cold time to be far from the village, but you decide that this cannot wait. Elia is over forty now; if he waits much longer, he and Galit will be unable to have a child, barren or not! You escort him out of the village, wrapped up warmly as you make your way up the hill, guided by memory and the barking dogs, to where you felt the strange closeness of that Other Place before. As you approach, you feel it again and find a patch of grass relatively un-touched by the light snow. You tell Elia to sit also, as you ready your mind and cast it out into that half-awareness of the Other Place.

Once again, you are greeted by the all-encompassing peace that settles on you like a warm blanket. You scarcely have to call, before Rhea responds. "Oh Rhea, healer and merciful," you intone, "There is one who seeks your blessing. His wife bears no children, her womb is barren. Oh Rhea, we beg of you, reach out with healing hands and restore life to Galit's belly..." Minutes pass and you receive your response. As you sigh and break from your meditative trance, you become aware of Elia's awe.
"I saw-" he croaks, "I-I don't kn-"
"I've never looked on Rhea myself," you confess, gesturing at your eyes. "What did you see?"
"A woman," Elia gulps and nods. "Or... Maybe a man? No, a slender woman. With short and white hair. She was young and- Trym, she was beautiful..! More than Nila, more than Galit, more than anyone! Just so gentle and kind and-" he chokes and wipes his eyes like a child again.
"She said that she will heal Galit," you tell him, resting your hand on his shoulder, "So long as she shows a good heart and piety. I told you the gods will not forsake you, brother."
>>
>>44869265
Galit looks suspicious when Elia gives her the news and she gives you a look that says she doesn't quite believe it... But none the less, Elia encourages her, filled with the conviction of the vision he saw. He tells you that it was only pale, like a reflection in the river, but she smiled at him, before fading like mist. It seems these gods don't so readily walk the world as the gods of the wild. The more you learn, the more different they seem...

The snow melts come spring and life slowly returns to the world. It is now early spring. What will you do?

By mid season we should try hunting small game, as we need meat for Soqed and some emergency reserves. Then we need to do more planting, with the herders so they have hands on experience and also aren't eating into our village's reserves
>>
>>44869457
We should upgrade the huts before winter time, but not before getting planting taken care of.
>>
>>44869650
No, it wasn't purely fluff. They have a home now, but it's not as impressive as the homes your clan tends to use. That's about to change though...

I'm back by the way and getting a new appreciation for how Trym and everyone must feel in winter. Stupid single-glazed windows...

Calling the votes and writing.
>>
The winter's foulness continues into spring this year. Rain and ugly winds batter your village, bringing down everyone's spirits and soaking through even the weathered hides that cover your homes. The ground becomes a quagmire that sucks at your feet. Yet all through the terrible weather, you practice diligently with your magic. Little by little, finger by finger, you learn to see further and expand your own abilities. You're finally getting the hang of commanding the dozens of invisible, magical hands to lift and throw things, giving you a new weapon in your arsenal. As yet, it's no better than a sling, but you're getting there, slowly but surely.

Meanwhile, the herders are doing something unexpected... Their long, low home is slowly being raised, as they weave wicker walls and plaster them with mud and the useless straw from the harvested grain. The roof still uses the hides, but the walls are much sturdier and more windproof, even if the mud does take forever to dry in the wet conditions. Apparently, the herders keep places like this in the locations they move the herd to during winter. Even the traditionalists and isolationists among your village are impressed.

Yeah, you definitely need more training. Shamanism and all magic really is a lifelong journey. Better education will speed it up, but it's still a long road.
>>
>>44876032
Dropped your name?
>>
>>44876051
I did at that...

More food has never, ever let you down and now, with the crops being sown, you decide it's time to expand. With Sera gone, you don't need the extra grain to survive and the village is feeding itself fairly well, but it's time to think about the future. It's time to secure yourselves against disaster and to create a surplus. The herders watch curiously as you gather the clan and set them to their task.

You have 15 labour points available. Your land is unsurveyed
>Small field - 5 points
>Large field - 12 points
>Animal pens - 8 points
>>
>>44876181
>Small field - 5 points
>Animal pens - 8 points

btw
Also how many units of food do we get per harvest now, with the extra lands we cultivated a year or two ago?
>>
>>44876181
I'm just going to set up in a building queue style, to make it easier to plan larger projects.
1 Animal pens - 8 points
2 Small field - 10 points
1 Large field - 12 points
Total: 30 points, 2 Turns
>>
>>44876236
This seems a good plan of action
>>
>>44876225
36 points of food, as I said then.

You eat 32 units a year, so you're actually already generating surplus! Now you just have to worry about your storage capabilities. For the first time in human history, you are producing a surplus!
>>
>>44876268
Great thanks.

Guys with that being done this turn alone should set us up for what we have to do food wise for a while. We should focus on hunting some small game and get practice hunting again. Deer/rabbits and small animals. Good magic training and We can save us the shit amount of meat we will get until we become good enough to provide all of it for the late fall.
>>
>>44876268
Now we must build a granary and a smoke-house, to deal with both forms of our food.
>>
>>44876181
>>44876236
I'll second this, but stress that we hunt immediately after. We gotta secure 2 units of meat for Soqed. Afterwards, we should focus on upgrading our houses with herder improvements
>>
>>44876330
I feel we should go and deal with the other tribe, maybe try and get some of the herders to join our family/clan bringing some of their goats with them
>>
>>44876363
I like the plan. But I am thinking we should focus on getting some of our personal shit out of the way. Like getting the meat, before dealing with other problems.
Then we can focus on getting our magic up and keeping our children alive. Then next year once we have a good year full year of no fuck ups. with a good record of the herders being alive and all. We can bring more people, from the herders or the strangers. And I am sure the village will be working on making a bigger surplus of grains and such for more food they can trade and what not.
>>
>>44876428
Thing is with our surplus of grain, if we can convince the herders, we can feed goats and get meat that way.

Though all of this does not matter cause of the one HUGE problem in our way, we don't control our tribe, we must gain control by use of connection with the god(s) we are uniting under as i feel from the reaction elia had that this one is perfect for our purposes. He revered it and know only we can gain access to them easily gives us control
>>
>>44876848
Well I can't think of a "direct" or "immediate" way to gain leadership right now. I think we should continue along our current course, and convince the herders to join us using your idea. This will not only bring us one step closer to uniting all the tribes, but also give us the support of the herders (as we are basically their representative) when the time comes to bring ourselves to the chief position.

On another note, once we get the Herders integrated with us, the Hunters will probably be easier to persuade, both because of our past interactions and by having their envoys see how good life is for our tribe. Plus by having the Herders integrated with us, we can back our claims of a better life by working together.
>>
If you want your village and clan to be impressive enough to bring others into a tribe, food is the root of everything. Your kin are shocked at just how much you want done and rightfully point out that you won't get it all done before summer.
"I'm well aware of that," you tell them, "But we shall make a start. Starting today, our clan begins a journey to greatness. We won't just have enough food to eat for now, but enough to keep us into the future, safe against disaster and enough to give as gifts and to trade, without missing anything ourselves." You take a handful of seed from the gourd and hold it up, letting it spill through your fingers and back to the rest with a soft hiss. "This is the root of plenty and abundance. Let us not waste time in taking it for our own!"

First however, you need to get an animal pen set up. The herders are surprised their priorities come first, but you know better. Left to wander, the goats would have eaten the new seed and shoots before they had a chance to grow. It isn't long before the pen is built and the beasts contained, making the herders job suddenly much easier, with somewhere safe to keep their stock. The fields are less than completely successful however. The pen required experimenting with the new methods the herders brought and took longer than expected. The fields are not complete this season, but a start has been made.

>All remaining labour points are distributed evenly between remaining projects.

A few ways I can see would be to take control by;

information - we figure out better weapons and tools and use them to keep control

Gods - we gain control by aligning ourselves with the gods, divine right to rule and priest caste methodology are two such ways.

Numbers - Go around all family heads and attempt to make them favour us as a leader over mesut, I can't think of a way to do this for our tribe but I think we could get the other two tribes on our side for certain by marriage.

Shadowy cabal - control from the backgrounds, hard if not impossible to do on the scale we are at

I have to run to my talbetop game I'm afraid folks. I'll be back at about 11pm GMT and will continue then. Sorry today's been really slow...
>>
>>44877154
Sorry, this entire series seems dead as of late, I always either catch the beginning or the tail end of your threads. Try running in three to four hours
>>
>>44877142
>Small field
>Small field
>Large field
>>
>>44877151
Still we should strive to be leader/ have a larger voice with in our tribe. The more herders we bring in the bigger our voice will be.
But once we join in with the hunting parties we will be more repeated with in the hunter community. and not be looked down upon.
Anyone intrested in trying to concatenation with the god of magic. We could ask for the path to learning magic. Instead of more power thinking long term vs short term. More power long term training the "correct" way magic should be trained. Instead of a power boost with out knowledge boost of magic.
>>
>>44879227
See, the thing is if I wanted then I could give us the ability to set things on fire. I won't explain but telekinesis allows it if we assume this world uses the same fundamental laws as ours.
>>
>>44879530
What, like using telekinesis to rub two sticks together?
>>
>>44879530
That's literally just using telekinesis on two objects to cause friction. Which is good and all, but not very useful with our skill level. Like, we could probably grind flint together to make sparks, but we definitely don't have the capability to mess with oxygen molecules (or molecules of any kind, for that matter) to create a spontaneous combustion. Maximum capability I can see at our level is being able to start a campfire or light a torch, which could be useful in certain situations, but I can't see it being practical at this point.
>>
>>44880071
Thing is though, that it implies we are powerful; we can create fire, one of the most destructive and powerful things our people know of, using our mind

>>44879659
Yeah like that, but we can do it other ways like rubbing peoples clothes against them
>>
>>44880258
But literally anyone can make fire with flint (plus an argument could be made that they're all using their minds). The clothes thing would lead to prehistoric rug-burn, not fire. The skin would give out before the clothing and render the whole point void. So maximum militaristic use at this point consists of giving people rashes.
>>
>>44880424
It doesn't matter if the skin gives out, we just keeping going until either they are on fire or they are dead
>>
>>44880424
I am just saying we can set shit on fire and then justifying as to why to learn this, if you think it is dumb then fair enough
>>
>>44880938
It would take much longer than is feasible to kill them with this method.
>>44880964
I don't think it's dumb I just think that -at our current skill level- It's simply a harder way to accomplish common tasks.
>>
>>44881276
This is a mote point, we have no use for combat skill except for hunting, we should instead be focusing on how to improve things in a shorter term
>>
>>44880964
Not dumb but throwing sharp objects at who we are targeting should do for now. Especially once we get a couple yards of range. And a few times as strong as our sling. Which we should be getting there once we get to training diligently.
>>
>>44882298
It was stated that we can magically propel them as hard as our sling can, even multiple at the same time
>>
>>44882350
Yeah, which is why I said we need to be able to throw it much harder. To be able to hunt with it.
A few times as strong as our sling. The wording may have been a stupid way to put that. At work on a cell.
>>
>>44882584
We could hunt with it as we can hunt using our sling, arguably even better
>>
>>44882727
Slings cant take down large prey. Therefore, by increasing our speed with these spear tips, we should be able to not only hit our prey, but also pierce them, at much higher velocities. Another thing to note is that slings rely on blunt trauma while these are basically a throwing spear without the shaft.
>>
>>44882857
The way I see it, we probably have a wider 'spread' then a sling ever could, and could fire multiple rocks at the same time making bludgeoning even larger game easier if we aim and fire a row of bullets at a deer's skull.

So yeah, I agree that we should practice our velocity, but the idea of being able to fire off several shots at the same time from the same 'sling' is nothing to laugh at.
>>
We could just make a sort of arrow/dart thing to "mind-throw" at prey
>>
Alright cool, I'm back.

Early summer brings with it blistering heat. The sun seems especially relentless this season and swiftly drives everyone to thirst. The herders have at least returned and send a small party to check on their people and to trade. So far, they seem quite pleased with the arrangement and tell you that while the ring will need a little more time to decide for sure, your good treatment of their kin says good things about your plan.

What will you do?
>Hunt the aurochs 1d10 (Strength -Blind)
>Fish in the river 1d10 (Skill +Trait -Blind)
>Explore the forest
>Explore up the valley
>Explore the hills
>Try and investigate something new (List options)
>Make something special (List options)
>See what the mood of the clan is like, talk to people and get to know them (free)
>Change your active jobs and examine your inventory (free)
>Try to summon a new god
>Make offerings to a god
>Bring more land under cultivation
>Trade with the herders
>Other
>>
>>44883194
>Bring more land under cultivation

Finish up, and see how the clan feels about the rest of herders coming around.

Side question, do we get extra points for cultivating with the added population? Or is it now more a matter of not enough time, rather than not enough hands?
>>
>>44883194
>Bring more land under cultivation
>>
>>44883194
>Trade with the herders, healing for stuff
>>
>>44883302
Seconding

>>44883168
That's literally what we did.
>>
>>44883194
>Bring more land under cultivation
But next turn we got to hunt to give the meat to the wolf. We have until late fall to give him the meat.
>>
>>44883194
>Bring more land under cultivation
Gotta finish what we started.
>>
>>44883382
Agreed, and then by the end of fall if we have time we should work on reinforcing our own hut.
>>
>>44883499
Our hut is as good as it's going to be. Current tech holding I believe.
>>44883194
>Finish up the cultivation.
>Have Elia Hunt some small game on his off time. So as not to ask much of him but gain a few units of meat.
>>
>>44883791
All I can think of is reinforcing it like the Herders did, but considering it's summer I think it's safe to put it on the back burner for now.
>>
>>44883791
Wrong, herders came up with a way to better insulate then us using mud and straw as insulators. We haven't done any of that, they haven't fixed up our hit
>>
>>44883863
Right, I was the one suggesting it and I agree that it's better to wait for winter
>>
>>44883194
>>44883863
Second on asking Elia to hunt for us while we plant. That way we if we botch our hunting roll we might have something to fall back on
>>
Alright, time to count those votes and write!
>>
>>44884312
We don't need like a majority vote to ask Elia to hunt birds while we plant do we?
>>
>>44884354
Well it's a free action, but you do need at least some support I'm afraid.
>>
We should contact a God of the harvest
>>
>>44884403
Is anyone for asking Elia to hunt while we plant?
>>
>>44884684
>>44884403
I am
>>
>>44884403
>>44884684
Yes, dude's better off hunting since he's kinda useless otherwise
>>
>>44884684
Yeah I am.
>>
>>44884684
I always assumed he did shit automatically, I guess I thought he would just naturally contribute. But yeah, I support this.
>>
>>44885020
No unless stated otherwise we have to give npcs directions if we need specific stuff done
>>
>>44885020
nah he is useless like >>44885135
said.
He only feeds him self and Galit.
>>
"Elia, I need your help."
"What can I do for you, brother?" Elia's been in a good mood ever since you spoke with Rhea for him. Galit's been happier too and has been going out of her way to be charitable and kind to everyone she meets. More often than not, they've been making journeys to the sacred site on the hills that you discovered and making offerings, fulfilling the 'piety' requirement. Honestly, since the planting ended, it's got to the point where you almost wish you hadn't done him the favour, some nights...
"I need you to get your sling," you nod. "I have a need for meat, a lot of it..." You explain the deal with Soqed and Elia looks slightly horrified.
"You don't mean that if we don't feed him, he'll-!"
"I don't think so," you frown. "Soqed must know how the village will respond if he acts like that. But he won't guarantee Sera's safety anymore. I don't know what dangers might lurk in the Wild, but I'm not willing to risk it. Can I count on you?"
"Without a doubt, brother," Elia nods, uncharacteristically serious. "But it'll be hard to gather three times Sera's weight in birds alone..."
"Just do what you can," you sigh. "We'll figure out the rest."

While Elia sets himself to hunting, you return to keeping the village organised. You're limited by your tools and organisation, more than numbers, but still with the help of the resident herders, you push for the completion of the fields. You can't plant them this year, of course, but next year, you should have more grain than you know what to do with! Honestly, storing it all is going to be a problem... The herders might be onto something with their idea... It's certainly more sturdy and proof against the weather than your homes.

This year's harvest will only bring in 36 food, but your fields can now produce 41 total food!
>>
>>44885635
Elia has brought back as many birds as he can, but they're small and after smoking shrinks them a little, they definitely aren't enough... Still bringing home just ONCE the weight of a girl like Sera is quite an achievement. He looks tired, but pleased with himself.

It is now late summer and the heat is not letting up. Between the rains earlier in the year and now the heat baking the land dry, there is starting to be some worry that the crops won't fare as well this year, as they have before...

What will you do?

>>
>>44885667
>Hunt the aurochs 1d10 (Strength -Blind)
Also bring Elia with us. We need to get the meat to Soqed.
>>
>>44885667
Also switch the fishing skill to hunting.
>>
>>44885667
>Hunt the aurochs 1d10 (Strength -Blind)
I don't think it's the BEST idea, but we do need to get meat. Bring Elia and maybe some others. Also switch out fisher with hunter.
>>
Rolled 9 (1d10)

>>44885667
>Hunt the aurochs 1d10 (Strength -Blind)
>>
Rolled 4 + 2 (1d10 + 2)

>>44885897
>>44886059
Remember to roll if the option your voting for requires a roll. Also, you can add a d10 of magic to improve the result. Not sure if we get the plus two though

>>44886174
Speaking of, rolling to add magic to this roll
>>
>>44885667
>Hunt the aurochs 1d10 (Strength -Blind)
This plus Elia, wolf-dogs, and
magic, though I'm 2scurred to roll
>>
>>44886252
Well people have already voted, so it doesn't really matter, but when we're also voting to change a job, which adds more dice generally, it's a good idea to hold off until the change.
>>
>>44886357
We don't get extra dice from Hunter due to our blindness penalty, which reduces it to 1 die pool and one extra dice if we want to risk using magic
>>
Rolled 1 + 2 (1d10 + 2)

>>44885897
My Roll, also use magic.
>>
>>44886416
Oh okay then, my bad.
>>
>>44886423
Fuck, I'm hoping magic negates the botch otherwise we'll never reach our quota
>>
Rolled 2, 6 + 2 = 10 (2d10 + 2)

>>44885667
Okay, I'm just going to roll 2d10+2 for hunting
>>
Rolled 4 (1d10)

>>44886423
>>44886480
I believe in magic
>>
>>44886174
>>44886252
Best result is a 16, hope that's enough with help

>>44886476
No worries, RWB really needs to get a paste with our current sheet and the dice mechanic as well as our penalties
>>
>>44886676
No kidding I do. Something to work on tomorrow, I'd say.

Okay, votes counted. Looks like you're going hunting. Sorry to disappoint you all, but if you want to use magic, that's a separate roll to magnify anything you achieve via mundane methods.
>>
>>44886738
So do we need to roll magic now? Almost everyone rolled magic seperately
>>
>>44886738
Then do these ones count?
>>44886252
>>44886599

They were rolled after the results of their respective hunting rolls?
>>
Bump. RWB may have fallen asleep.
>>
You don't like the idea of hunting without sight, but you really don't have much other choice. Fall is coming far swifter than you would have liked and you could never live with yourself if you jeopardized your daughter's safety. So after allowing Elia a few days rest, you press a spear into his hands and tell him you are going after the aurochs herd. Natrually, he is appalled at the thought.
"Trym, have you lost your mind?!" he snaps, sitting up and glaring at you incredulously. "You're blind and my spear-arm has got no better over the years. Hunting aurochs like this is suicide! I seem to recall you nearly ended up dead the first time we tried it and you could see then! Why not just trade for meat instead?"
"If it comes to it, I will," you say, firmly, "But for now, we'll try our hand at hunting. If you won't, then I will alone."
Elia sighs and takes up the spear, muttering. "I'll come. At the very least, someone has to keep you from killing yourself."

The large hunting parties of before have not really reformed, with farming making up so much of your food now. Instead, the old approach of separating the old, slow or sick from the herd and spearing them, has returned. It's a slow and dangerous method, but you think you have a reasonable chance of success. Still, even with Elia's help, it won't be easy. Magic will help you even the playing field significantly and you think that you know exactly the god to invoke. It's strange to call on one you only know of thanks to the herders, but asking Maar's permission to take some of the herd can only help your chances...
>>
>>44888337
I think I'll leave it on that reasonably cliffhanger-ish point for now. Next thread, we'll start off with a display of magic and meeting a new god.

So the next thread will be on Thursday, 9pm GMT, or 4pm East Coast Time for you Americans. I hope you're all still interested and having fun. You are making progress, little by little, or progress is happening to you. I'm certainly still interested in running, if you're still interested in playing!

Until next time, stay safe everyone and have a happy time.
>>
>>44888387
I doubt there is anything you would do to cause me to stop waiting every week for these threads. Thanks for running pal
>>
>>44888387
Thanks for running man! These threads just keep getting better and better!

More math = more excitement in my book!
>>
>>44888387
I mean, we're making progress. It's slow, but we are making progress. We've got fields for the herders set up, we're almost done with Sera's first year away from home, we have an upgrade available for our home, and we're meeting a new god.

Thanks for the thread mang.
>>
>>44888337
Thanks for your thread. and Yeah having a great time. And we are all having fun.
Can't wait for the next one.
