Well that was old, old fluff. It was later retconned to the Emperor seeing Horus slay Sanguinius, his own brother, in whom all saw the reflection of the Emperor's spirit/soul without pause, hesitation, or remorse, (as well as Ollanius Pius) that proved to Big E how he was beyond redemption.
