God of Metal and Fire be praised!

--------------------------------------------------

Noting the tribe is low on food Greypatch sets off into the scrub. Wandering into a forest he comes across a cache of already butchered large game animals. But this is not all! He finds snares, backpacks (sized for smaller animals), and basic gravity traps waiting to be used. Without hesitating he grabs all he can, added by the backpacks, and returns to camp!

>+10 Days of Food
>Technology: Snares, Gravity Traps, Backpacks

Glug Glug ropes more Bulls into helping him and his Acolytes, now known as Steel Horns after Glug Glug's blessing. Progress on the Mouth of Fire is frustratingly slow. Between not being able to carry many stones, the mud drying before being used, and a poor understanding of architecture; little progress is made this day

>>
>>34087397
Leveraging their great strength and the materials on hand the tribe copies their previous success on building Babe a shelter. Soon enough there is a cluster of huts in the clearing; each is waterproofed with the quick dry mud and insolated with leafy branches from the surrounding clearing.

>-6 small trees
>Housing: More restful sleep allows the tribe to work harder.
>Moral Cushion: Take less penalties from moral hits

Instead of continuing the advancement, the tribe decides to celebrate their housing. A feast is had in celebration for the huts and Babe's coming calf.

Using the backpacks that were found days ago Glug Glug organizes the Steel Horns to use them to carry more materials back to the construction of The Mouth of Fire. This works wonders, more stones are carried and the mud is brought back that is actually usable for some serious progress. The Mouth of Fire looks like a proper forge now. Albeit, heavily stylized as to Glug Glug's vision from the God of Fire and Metal.

>Mouth of Fire progress +2.5 / 6 (Total: 3.5)
>Increased Devotion to the God of Fire and Metal

Glug Glug and his followers are all struck by murky dreams focusing on the Mouth of Fire. It pleases the God that originally touched Glug Glug. There will be a reward for this devotion and effort into constructing the Mouth of Fire.

As the tribe wakes the earth shakes, and smoke bellows from the top of the mountain. While brief, it is enough to confirm the Steel Horn's dream.

Babe has finally given birth! Congratulations and celebrations are in order! She has birthed two healthy Bull calves!

The sign from the God of Metal and Fire coinciding with Babe's birthing of healthy has fired up the Tribe to complete the Mouth of Fire today! Work progresses quickly, Babe's observation of the Mouth of Fire's construction has given her valuable insight into how it should be finished.

Rejoice! The Mouth of Fire is completed! Glug Glug leads the Tribe in a short ceremony christening it with the full blessing of the God of Fire and Metal.

>Mouth of Fire is completed!
>Major construction complete: +2 Moral

The day wears on with much celebrating.

Before night fully falls a concussive force is sent from the Mountain. The calves begin to cry and the tribe is worried. All save Glug Glug and the most devoted Steel Horns. A red hot object falls from the sky, heading towards the village! But whatever this is does not strike the village but slams into the earth a hundred meters away. Going to investigate it seems to be a large piece of metal, glowing red hot.

It is too hot to approach now. But perhaps tomorrow.

Gathering around strange piece of metal that fell from the mountain last night the tribe looks at it. The Calves are eager to touch and explore it but Babe and Anonymoose keep them back; for who knows what it is? Glug Glug declares in no uncertain terms this is a gift for the tribe. His Acolytes lead the tribe to drag the metal back to the camp. Leaving it near the Mouth of Fire.

The gift from the God of Metal and Fire is large and flat with a horn coming off of one side.

>Anvil of the God

The formerly injured Scout is not healthy enough to help with the dragging of the metal. Instead he uses the crude axe and plants pieces of Redwood around the camp.

Low scrub directly around the camp; the tribe settled on an abandoned hunting camp. To the Southeast is a Shield Volcano. In the Southern direction, as the Scout tells it, is a canyon that has been quarried, a large lake or sea, and hostile insects. East a days march is a small stand of trees. Ya'll haven't explored much though.

Is the mouth of fire operational or does it need to be lit? If it's working, perhaps we can chip some fragments from the anvil's sides, or find fragments where it originally crashed, and use it in the mouth. We could try making pickaxes and shovels.

After some gawking at the Anvil one of the Calves, Butts, searches the crater that was left by the Anvil landing. He finds some large handfuls of metal scrap, there are still more to me scavenged, and brings them back to the camp. He finds the Mouth of Fire has been lit by the Steel Horns. Glug Glug takes the metal scrap after Butts offers it up to him. Taking the pieces he tosses them above the fire. After some time the metal scraps liquefies. An ambitious Minotaur teases the melted metal out from the hottest part of the Mouth of Fire.

What is produced is simply a pool of metal. But it does give the tribe the basics of how the Mouth of Metal works.

The Scout feeling strong again sets out with a pair of Bulls who volunteered to explore towards the tree line. They take food with them to sustain them on their journey.

>Travelling supplies: -3 days of food
>-3 Bull Population until they return

The rest of the Tribe sets to find more materials to figure out how the Mouth of Fire works in greater detail. Leading the tribe towards the mountain Glug Glug to find more materials. Finding a small vein of metal of some kind, but they are unable to mine the ore effectively due to a lack of tools. They return the stone and ore to the camp. Using the Minotaur's great strength they separate the ore from the rock.

The tribe splits into two today. One half of the tribe attempts to improve their ability to harvest the bounty of the Earth. The other half experiments further with the Mouth of Fire.

The day is met with mixed results. Glug Glug and the Steel Horns certainly find how to create a handle for a mining instrument, but alas the really useful part of the tool is beyond them. However, the half of the tribe that was experimenting with the Mouth of Fire figure out shape metal as it liquefies in the Mouth of Metal, unfortunately the tribe expends their stores of ore.

>+1 Day of Food
>Cultivated Berries exhausted for now

Other food scavenging efforts have found the scrub thin. For one reason or another the animals are gone and the food with them. Strange. The tribe is worried about this as it is unnatural for the scrub is so quiet.

Glug Glug and two of his Acolytes stay near the Totem Pole praying to the God of Metal and Fire for insight into the secrets of Metallurgy.

While this is happening another small group of Minotaurs head towards the Mountain looking for a better place to harvest Ore. The mountain is quiet fortunately and the sky is high. The trek is long and thirsty work. But it is not for nothing, mostly. A series of caves are found on the far side of the mountain, with what looks to be the same kind of ore that was in the crater and where Glug Glug 'mined' for the first time.

But all is not well. There are small green humanoid like beings talking in high pitched voices, with grasping hands, and eyes that glowed with malice. They do not approach the scouting party due to the massive size difference between the two species. But this does not bode well. These beings are close and seemingly unfriendly.

During the night Glug Glug nor any of his followers are given visions. The God of Fire and Metal gives them no insights into Metallurgy.

The Scouting party returns to the far side of the mountain. The strange little, spiteful creatures have seemingly vanished. The caves are still lined with refuse. But with some scavenging the scouting party finds several things. First, they find food. Yet it is not as wholesome as they would like. Apparently these little green things have poor taste or aren't smart enough to find better food. Second, they find seemingly unlimited amounts of ore in the walls of the cave. Large baskets of ore sit towards the back. The strength of our people make these easy to retrieve. Lastly, the previous occupants left many weapons behinds. They are far too small to be used by our tribe and of poor quality, but they may be useful for templates for our own production.

That's the watchword. Practical. Use the bonus, but don't make it all consuming.

The halfbreeds will be exactly the same as pure breeds once mature. No differences.

Five of the most aggressive Bulls take the weapons and head south. They have the means to vengeance against the six legged creatures for taking the lives of the Scouts. Greypatch leads them. Spirits are high. They are sent off with blessings of the God of Metal and Fire.

>-5 Bulls

The rest of the tribe gathers wood and food. They accidentally stumble upon edible roots. The quiet scrub is more bountiful than once imagined.

+3 days of foot

Glug Glug and two assistants man the Mouth of Fire for the day. They produce a powerful tool for harvesting ore from the cave on the far side of the mountain.

>+2 Pick Axes - Will boost Ore gathering
>-2 Ore

The Minotaur scouts have returned! They bring food. Large scaled animals without legs and slits in their sides. With them they bring nets. Rejoicing in the tribe! With the raiding party leaving the camp became empty again.

Let us plant the large tree behind the totem poll, so that no insect can touch the pole. Plus also for decoration.
