Why do people get so butthurt about elite teams beating other teams even if they have bad records?

This isn't the NBA. Our league actually has parity and takes a team effort of combined elements to win even when elite teams are up against shit ones. Winning an MLB game isn't as easy as just making sure Lebron in in the lineup. There is no such thing as a guaranteed win or even an"easy" win in the MLB.

Just ask the 2011 Red Sox that went they went up against the Orioles. The Red Sox couldn't have been more stacked. the Orioles couldn't have been more shitty, the game couldn't have been more "must win" for the Red Sox, but we all know what the result was.

If anything the shitty teams playing vs the Indians are the tougher opponents. A lot of these teams like the white sox, O, and tigers have absolutely nothing to play for. There are very few people here who don't care about any one of the teams here, but frankly the Browns are on the lowest tier atm, they haven't had good attendance in years. Cavs do well because our local product came back AND won us a fucking championship, maybe non cursed cities can't appreciate the emotional investment in this kind of circumstance but it's understandable. But most importantly, as you already pointed out, the sheer number of games doesn't compare. The season sellout for Cavs doesn't even touch a million people, and how many home games are there in headinjuryandawordfromoursponsors? Every single person that's been to the Gund and First Energy are going the Jake too but going to every game of a homestand with start times of day time to 7 don't mesh perfectly with one of the most underpopulated cities in the nation and one of the poorer ones at that. That said I'd say a very large chunk of the people that do go to the games are STH.

People do care. TV and radio numbers reflect that. I don't know why the attendance isn't better. Obviously the economic situation here isn't great, but the fanbase is also sprawled out. Most people who are baseball fans live in the outer suburbs. Nobody in the city or places like Lakewood really care, and the ones who do are broke, but there are tons of people who live a 40 minutes or more outside the city who fly their tribe flags and have a wall in their house filled with memorabilia and watch 120 games a year but only go out to one or two. I know thats the way it is with my family and other people I know. You see people rocking their gear all over , but they just aren't going to the ballpark. Attendance has been much better this year than last though, its up like 25%.

I don't know what other teams charge, but the tickets seem fairly priced. Part of the problem is that for a family with 3 kids to sit in ok seats and get everybody food and pay for parking, maybe pick up a souvenir, Its gonna be close to $200 or more. Its not a big deal foe me and my gf to drop 100 dollars and sit in some decent seats, but for a family, thats harder to swing more than a few times a year. Its the families that really fill out the seats and its hard to raise kids in Cleveland nowadays. Most people I see at the ballpark are singles and couples, or a dad with one kid, but not a lot of families.
