I try to imagine it's 4-4-2 because there's no excuse for thinking Verratti and De Rossi can hold the midfield on their own (Lorenzinho PBUH and Candreva can't defend)

He shouldn't even be in the team

I had board restrictions that meant even as a semi pro club, I couldn't offer my players wages, so I had to have everyone on a £0/w amateur contract until I had enough bank to go professional. It made competing with the big teams near impossible. I had to sign backup teenagers from the big clubs and develop them myself with just gametime because my facilities were shit until they were good enough to match them.
>>
>>78082547
But all that CL money must mean you're far ahead of everyone else now, right? Invest in Africans

>>78082691
Yes, now I have financial domination and am superior to the rest of the league. However Malta has a limit of 7 foreigners, and a requirement for 11 homegrown players in the match squad. Makes things that little bit more challenging.

Which is the reason why the Enganche role makes me absurdly mad in FM. They don't dribble at all. Recoba may have terrible work ethic and Riquelme may be the slowest footballer that's not a keeper or Mertesacker, they both knew how to dribble and get their way out of trouble. I used to hate the AP(A) role in FM15 (since RPM is simply superior in every way and shape), but in FM 17 it does what an Enganche is supposed to do way better than EGs themselves in FM17; and that, even if your AMC is cripplingly slow.

>>78083809
Honestly it would've been nice if it didn't have hard-coded "Dribble Less" while preventing you from asking them to "Dribble More". I don't remember if you can ask them to "Hold Position". That way you'd get a slightly more aggressive and less mobile AP(A), that's more available as a goal threat while not being a liability like a Treq defensively even if it's not their forte. Like an AM(A) but with the playmaker bias, a bias which in my 3-4-3 Diamond prevents the >wongas from doing really stupid shit with the ball.

Some may say that a AP(S) would be similar, but not really as they keep dropping back and believing they're DLP(D), and they also have much lower mentality which makes them really passive offensively.
>>
>>78083798
>Which is the reason why the Enganche role makes me absurdly mad in FM. They don't dribble at all.

Very few. FM obviously has some things that need improvement so a negative review can be considered fair but so very many of them are morons who are just bad at FM which is probably part of what makes SI think they are doing such a great job (not that I hate SI too much, I think they get a little too much stick here and on the whole do at least an ok job) when they get a bunch of positive reviews from idiots who see no fault or have only played for 1 hour and consider it flawless while most of the negative reviews are written off because they fall under the categories of angry chinks and morons thinking having 4 people injured is a bug.

>video game reviews
dont bother. the problem with video games in general is that the majority of consumers are underage nerds (nerd is explicitly used as a pejorative here). This means that upwards of 99% of games are garbage and pretty much everything relating to the video game industry or video game ""culture"", including reviews (esp. user reviews) is vomit-inducing. Which is a shame, I think games are actually an interesting medium (interactivity etc.) but the demand for literal shit is too large to allow good stuff to settle in. A bit like the market for paintings that is right now flooded with money of the nouveau riche who don't have a clue about art but think that you should pay millions for a jackson pollock """painting"""".

Pretty sure a few of them looked MLS quality

I have no idea who Felix is and I had this opinion for a pretty long time. The clubs do sign the youth players when they're good enough, but since MLS has very small max squad size they just end up rotting in the academy for a long and can be signed for free by basically anyone since the clubs they play for are amateur and have very low rep.

You're doing fine by signing youngsters and loaning them away, you just need big clubs to be interested in them. You can also start looking at the reserves/B squads of bigger clubs for decent prospects to loan away. The quality of your scouting will be the main determining factor.

You're right, if Carlisle played him as a wingback he'd absolutely rape.

>>78066886
you could play him in a deep back line, with no intentions of passing out from the back or him needing much pace. I reckon he'll eventually develop the necessary strength/height/positioning/jumping, plus great heading and bravery. His marking won't be too impressive but if you train him on it then it shouldn't be too bad. One poor attribute doesn't tend to make much of any difference if all the other necessary for the role are there, and his general mental game is pretty good, so I say go for it

i suppose it depends a lot on how your body develops. the time you hit puberty matters a ton in youth sports. i used to be a decent track athlete (not nearly as good as this guy of course) but was pretty bad when i was 14-15 because i hit puberty late. afterwards i caught up pretty easily. so it's really hard to judge.

i mean just think of freddie adu, he was thought to be good but he was just dominating kids using his much more mature body. when the others caught up he was exposed as a baddie.

>The sky might be fire, but I can see the moon clearly now. It is full and bright, and as protective as our mother.
>protective as our mother
Not quite. In Becketts seminal work Molloy, the protagonist of the same name likens the moon to an anus:
>How difficult it is to speak of the moon and not lose one's head, the witless moon. It must be her arse she shows us always. Yes, I once took an interest in astronomy, I don't deny it.

But the anus has of course special significance in Beckett's work, it is described as the "true portal of our being" (instead of the mouth) and, with the prevalence of anal sex in Beckett's oeuvre, clearly a mirror image of the vagina.

The moon is, of course, as you say a kind of mother. But its prime features are that of an anus - a gaping hole in the skies. This makes the conclusion obvious: the moon is not a mother itself, it is just a tool for birth. The world was created, and Beckett knew this, because a higher being used the moon as an anus, the world has been shat into existence.

The moon is thus not a maternal figure, but just a sign of creation, a sign of God. Watching the moon after a terrible loss is an act of complaining to the Gods about the injustice of football. We turn our faces to the moon to see the light, but we are looking at a dumb hole in the skies, an abstract negativity, in short: an asshole. It cannot protect us. The God has long left, he doesn't like to look at his own shit.

Well you don't want them to be completely useless on their weaker foot. I had pic related in FM15 in French D2 and he was strongly one-footed (and still is in FM17). As a creative player that was crippling: the opposition would shove him on his weaker foot and he'd disappear from the game completely.

IIRC, most good playmakers in the DB have between 10 and 14 on their weaker foot. There's only one winger who's nearly perfectly two footed: Ousmane Dembelé (19/20 for his feet). Which is actually completely true to his IRL counterpart. Meanwhile, Robben is strongly one-footed, but has Avoids Using Weaker Foot and Curls Ball PPM, so guess what he consistently does with it.
>>
>>78088083
>>78088008
FWIW, 10 is Reasonable on a weak foot, 8 Weak, below 8 it's Very Weak. 12 is Fairly Strong, 15 is Strong and the low limit for being considered Either footed.
>>
>>78088177
>>78088083
I suppose if a player has just right or left then it may be worth them developing their weaker foot but players who are strongly one footed are best going the Robben method.

Depends of their position and their role. It makes more sense to train it on players who'll be on the ball fairly often like Playmakers. A ST, especially as an Advanced Forward or a Poacher won't need it: weak foot or not, they'll shoot. Which is why it doesn't make much sense to Shove Them on Their Weaker Foot unless you know it's a liability and/or they have a more creative role where they'll carry the ball (generally top strikers all are Complete Forwards so you could consider it in that case).
A winger won't care either, neither will Robben although I consistently buy any promising young winger that has both feet. Defenders won't care, DM aside from Regista won't either.

Fairly ironically, Neuer is two-footed in FM.
>>
>last place does the double over me to avoid relegation
And they say FM isn't rigged.
>>
>>78088328
Funny, in fm16 with the meme crosses I always looked for one-footed wingers/wing backs because they only needed to cross and you could "fill out" their PA with more pace etc instead of wasting it on a foot that is basically never used as long as the winger is employed correctly.

But I guess wingers in 17 don't work like this anymore. I rarely play with them, but I've seen that inverse crosses (from the left side with the right foot and vice versa) have become much more common so it seems that two-footedness is actually good on wingers.

Generally I always felt that training the week foot is too much of a PA sink, but you might be right about playmakers.

In practice, even wingers with 20/15 footedness just use their strong foot 99% of the time. Even if you play them as Wingers on the side their weak foot is, they'll tend to cut and pass inside the pitch (remember that >wongas stay wider, dribble wide and cross by byline). Instead they just pass or shoot before getting to the byline.

If he doesn't kick from it then yeah perhaps (off balance, closed down, poor decisions, etc.), but if he's through he'll use his stronger foot, and if it's a tap-in then which foot he uses doesn't matter.

>>78088792
Heh, they're a bit more of a goal scoring thread and you lose a bit of width. I generally just play WM(A) with Dribble More and More Risky Passes instead, but it's not terrible. Just try it and see for yourself.

>>
>>78088829
yeah i'm also on the WM hype train because it's such a customisable role (you can basically play pseudo-IF's by giving them dribble more, cut inside instructions or more of a general link up player providing width etc.). i'll test the wingers thing and see how it works out.

Well. I do find Rosenborg to be the team that everyone loves to hate. And it was nice to see them get knocked off their high horse in the mid 00's ( the peak years of Norwegian football desu )

That being said Brann vs Rosenborg is always an entertaining match and usually a highlight of the season. Still don't get why you guys bought Ivar Ronningen off us and then never used him. But I guess it worked out in our favor in the end.

i think they are the only wide players that you can get to actually work offensively in 17 in the ml/mr strata. i feel wingers just drift around in empty space and when they get the ball they either cross it like a maniac or go into a 1000 km/h sprint with no real objective. But as I said, i didnt test them much, maybe I used bad instructions/formations.

I guess other Brann/Rosenborg turncoats like Helstad and Karadas were more memorable in your club probably. They also got a chance at redemption by coming back to Brann unlike Ronningen, he just ended up not doing much after that I guess.

i have this theory that most managers are just mascots and puppets of their respective assmen. Klopp for instance always worked with Zeljko Buvac as his assman. Buvac, who doesn't speak German very well, didn't want to deal with press conferences etc. so he talked his friend Kloppo into being the manager for him.

Kloppo's only job is to do stupid jokes, hug his players, shout at refs and generally to be a walking meme so the fans think he's down to earth and relatable and a "proper lad like us".

Conte is just the stupid italian who visibly and audibly orgasms every time his team scores. Simeone only exists to tell the ball boys to throw balls on the pitch to interrupt the gameplay. The moment ball boys are (for whatever reason) replaced by machines is the moment Diego Simeone ceases to exist, his right to live expired.

It's all a ruse, and as with all conspiracy theories, everyone's in on it. The real managers are the assmen, grey eminences in the shadows, avoiding press conferences and interviews like vampires avoid the sunlight. The Zidanes of this world are what we deep down always knew - they are all surface, brainless robots, pure memes.

>>
I'm simulating an empty db again. Instead of the 80k~90k players that would've been loaded, I have just under 19k players early in the save. Ironically, the game speed estimation doesn't match that. I read that it was a wonky indicator anyway, the game simulates somewhat faster than usual but it's not formidable either (i5 6000K OC'd to 4.5GHz).
>>
>>78089396
>fans want change because team played like shit
>just fire the manager-mascot

>everyone powerful inside the club can just continue as before, getting their paychecks and pulling the strings from the shadows

You may bring that as a joke, but IIRC in France you nee d your coaching badge to be able to sign the match sheet. So when a manager doesn't have his badge (yet), generally his assman or a coach sign it for him until he gets his diploma (or gets sacked, your choice).

idk, i always felt a manager is like an employer. he has the power over who to play, he can let a player rot in the reserves, basically erasing him from the football world, unseen by spectators and media alike. but this power means taking responsibility. even if it's not his fault, he is responsible for the result.

maybe similar to robespierres attack on the french king: it doesn't matter whether he did something wrong or not - he has to die, just because he is the king and as such responsible.

>>78089612
miracles happen. and sports are designed this way - a game that is always won by the favorites is ultimately boring. that's also why video proofs and so on are garbage. these measures destroy the beauty of the sport, its unpredictability, its inherent unfairness that makes the sport interesting.

i could write a 20+ page text on what's going wrong with football (and most popular sports) right now. most ppl think it's just petrodollars (and dont get me wrong, petrodollars do contribute), but generally a fabricated, commercialized fan culture is the true problem.

Looking at the stands at Hoffenheim or rb leipzig is horrifying, these fans should not exist. why are they supporting such a monster of a club, its dead flesh held together only by the sheer power of money? I can handle the clubs spending millions on players with oil or energy drink money, but I can't handle seeing their fans, cheering gleefully for what is basically a giant advertisement.

The AI just has little foresight when it comes to youth development, be it developing positions or making them more than Elite Wingermen with everything in physicals and little else. It's just as incredibly likely that the club just freed him just because, even if he was indeed talented. "Sometimes" (actually, often) AI can overlook players just because of reputation even if they're talented. You as a player just need to wait (AMD Radeon graphics) for their rep to drop, them being desperate and sign them for absolutely free.

I'm like 99.9% sure it's not relative, and the game uses a players PA to decide in that case. I was fucking around with the DB editor (Give Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 some prize money) and I found I could set a specific PA threshold for a player trying to get a WP application accepted.
