>Yet Hakeem is a consensus top 10 all-time great while Robinson is nowhere to be found.
I already explained why. Hakeem scored 20+ in inefficient but flashy ways, by twisting and dancing around in the post while dribbling for 15+ seconds. D-Rob and Duncan just faced up and shot, or, in the case of D-Rob, just blew by his man. Just far more efficient and clean in how they approached the game.
Same in defense. Hakeem got a lot of flashy weakside blocks because Thorpe did all the dirty work.
Honestly I don't think there is a more overrated player in NBA history.

>After Kobe announced his retirement, many peers and colleagues expressed their gratitude to Bryant for his legacy to the sport. Among the first to offer his praise was his former Lakers teammate, Magic Johnson. “There will never be another Kobe Bryant” Johnson said, “He’s going to go down as one of the greatest that has ever played. I put him up there right below Michael Jordan as the two greatest scorers I’ve ever seen probably in the history of this game.”

People seem to love to discredit steph. He's already top 5. Already second best PG in history. He can score any moment he steps past half court. Made 400 three pointers in a season. Led the best regular season team ever. 2 rings and counting. I know it's early in his career but if curry played in the 80s or some other earlier era he'd be seen as a legend and the epitomy of a skilled player just based on how unguardable he is.
>>
>>77478269
Curry is top 5 but Magic is definitely not top 10.
>>
another player that doesn't get the respect he deserves is bird. So many people rank magic over him just because of rings. But if that's the case bill russell > wilt. Bird is basically the same player as magic but with a good jump shot and not as good teammates. Magic was carried to couple rings while Bird led. Also bird has 3 first defense team and magic has none. He was a better scorer, rebounder, and honestly their passing was equal. Magic just led the offense more.

If I'm playing one on one, I'm taking the guy that doesn't miss jump shots over the tall passer. If I'm in the finals and need someone to win the game, I'm taking the best shooter ever over magic. If I want someone kids can look up to, I'm taking the relatable steph curry. Give me one reason why any point guard is better than curry

No team in the west has made the playoffs being under .500 in 20 years. Along with that the average 8th seed in the west has had over 45 wins, and twice the 8th seed has had 50 wins. With the west having gotten stronger than ever (allstars jimmy butler, paul george, paul milsap coming west and and only losing Gordon Hayward), why would anyone bet that the lakers will be able to make the playoffs because they added a rookie, a bum from detroit who doesn't even shoot 40%, and a center infamous for being 7'1 yet unable to rebound. Doesnt look at all like the minimum 15 win improvement necessary to make the playoffs
>>

houston has to show me Paul and Hardin can work together, frankly Paul is the antithesis to the O the Rockets want to play. Until I see Paul mixing in with the Rockets properly, I don't expect them to contend. no one else in the league will match the warriors next year. Expect them to cruise to another championship. It only gets interesting in 2018.

Hakeem scored fewer points and shot like 10% worse. I know it happened before you were born, but you can at least look up the boxscores or something.
>>
>>77478366
Here are their stats when they were guarded by each other:
Shaq 32-57 (56.1 FG%), 6-8 FT, 67.3 double teamed%, .578 TS%, 17 assists, 1 O-reb allowed to Hakeem
Hakeem: 31-75 (41.3 FG%), 9-13 FT, 60.2 double teamed%, .446 TS%, 8 assists, 3 O-reb allowed to Shaq

I don't think Jah will ever be a genuinely good player in the NBA. I don't really think he's ever going to get better at defense - it's both physical limitations and mental ones. And it's just really hard to build a championship team around a post player who is that bad at defense. And the fact that he's able to get points consistently means that he's going to be highly paid despite his limitations which means whatever team is paying him is going to be shackled by his contract. Having players like Jah on your team is actively bad in the modern NBA because they contribute so much less than they earn.

Like... I think Jah is most likely a slightly better version of Enes Kanter. And we just saw a playoffs where Kanter literally could not stay on the floor. They literally couldn't play him at all in the playoffs. How are you going to try and invest and build around Jah when the same thing is most likely going to happen to him?
>>
>>77484326
Do you idiots ever actually stop and think about the fact that there are 5 players on a basketball court? The Heat lost to the Spurs in the finals, that does not mean that Bron personally lost to Duncan.

Kobe is actually a good example. Won a lot of finals but how much credit can you give him when he never won without an elite big man who was either straight up better than him or at least as good

Chris Paul, the OCD angry midget was mad as fuck Harden didn't go for a layup and jacked up a bad shot instead even tho it went in. Harden being the show boating faggot obsessed with being a flashy star was dancing like a faggot the whole time instead of taking it seriously and tried to play off the tension by hugging Paul despite still getting yelled at.

Get ready for the Cockshit shitshow next season as Paul and Harden but heads in America's new #1 rated family sitcom in pinky and the brain.

He'd be amazing in the right situation but he might never be in the right situation. The only time his situation was right in Sacramento was with Malone, and the Kings fucked that up. And the roster in New Orleans is just so bad after you get past him and Davis.

The thing is, the dude is a fucking warrior, and he needs to be in a situation where it's OK for him to be a fucking warrior. He needs to trust that the people around him are honorable, because he's honorable and that's what he values from people. It's really hard for him to deal with it when people aren't honorable. He's hot blooded. And that's hard to find in today's day and age because there are a lot of snakes in the league.

Put him in a situation with a coach he trusts and respects and good players around him who fit and that's going to be an amazing team.

This may seem like an unpopular opinion but I don't think the 76ers will make the playoffs despite being in a weak conference and really my reasoning for this is mainly injuries.
I defiantly agree Sixers have a nice roster but the main problem is how injury prone this roster is I mean they've got a current total of 18 players on their roster for God sake!

>Players who don't have the winning mentality

But he literally just won a championship for Cleveland.
>>
>>77497593
He doesn't enjoy playing in Cleveland because Lebron is a pain in the ass to play with and Dan Gilbert is an asshole. They're not going to win a title next year, and they know it - Irving knows what it would take for them to beat the Warriors, and it's plain to see that they haven't done anything approaching that this summer. Lebron is going to leave after that and they're going to suck.

What reason does he have to stay in Cleveland? If he doesn't like playing there and he's not going to win a championship and the franchise's direction and management is clearly shitty?
>>
>>77497622
Because of BronBron. He couldn't even make playoffs without him.

Archibald is superior to Rondo and IT, so is Cousy.
>>
I don't know why the AT&T Center doesn't allow open carry... Isn't that Unconstitutional? Guarantee the WCF would have gone differently and played fairly if the NBA weren't cuck gun-grabbers.
>>
>>77497632
>They're not going to win a title next year

If Kyrie stays, the Cavs can absolutely win the title. There's no guarantee that the Warriors even make it out of the tough West. If the Rockets or the Thunder win out, it's an easy title with LeBron and Kyrie. I really don't understand the move from a basketball perspective.
>>
>>77497711
I genuinely don't know if Cousy would be able to play in the d-league today.
>>
>>77497709
difference is klay is a douchebag pothead in the most degenerate place in the world that allows him to continue enabling his lifestyle. he wouldn't leave GS unless it was another shithole like LA. Kyrie's nigger traits is also the same reason why he wants to leave a humble area like Cleveland to pursue a life of degeneracy, hence his top picks being Miami and New York.

>>
>>77497719

The warriors had the best team of all time last year and they got better this offseason. Nobody else has a chance of winning without major injuries
>>
>>77496229
The most efficient Clippers PnR set was with Blake Griffin handling the ball. He was extremely efficient actually. But probably not, he'll get injured and average respectable numbers
>>
>>77497727
Ok fair enough, but Cousy's legacy is superior to both Rondo and IT...
>>
>>77497709
>>77497719
How likely do you think it is that the Rockets or Thunder or Spurs win out, though. Like in all honesty. Same thing with the injuries - it's certainly possible but it's not something you want to have to count on.

So on the one hand you have those unlikely scenarios where they have a shot at a title. On the other hand, he doesn't enjoy playing there and he does need to leave at some point because he doesn't want to be left there without Lebron. You might as well get into a long-term situation where you enjoy playing and can settle in now.
>>
>>77497731
nah was just saying you never know whats gunna happen with injuries, its not impossible for cleveland to get the chip, just unlikely
>>
>>77497758
Curry could have a new knee injury any time. Kevin Durant has a lanky frame. He's usually reasonably healthy but he has had a few more injuries than you'd like.
Both Klay and Draymond are premium defenders who are very physical, they could get injured anytime.
Individually is there a high chance they get injured? no, but there's 4 of them, they all play starter minutes, its 4 times as likely one gets injured. If it happens at the wrong time of the year, it could ruin the teams chemistry going into the playoffs and leave them vulnerable.
They'd still be formidable, and probably the favorites but that scenario could turn out easily.
>>
>>77497795
it COULD happen but is that chance enough to make it worth staying in Cleveland for

Why is everyone so sure LeBron is leaving? He hasn't said or done anything lately and from a fan perspective, he can't possibly leave Cleveland a second time, can he?
>>
>>77498326
maybe they would have won. there's no way for us to know. Jordan might not have a perfect finals record if he hadn't taken that break.
>>
>>77498408
- it's widely rumored around the league, and where there's smoke there's fire
- the team's long-term prospects are shitty and he wants to win titles
- he still hates Dan Gilbert
- Gilbert fired David Griffin, who was Lebron's dude

from a fan perspective, he got them a title, and also, now that he leaked this news about Kyrie requesting a trade, people won't blame it on him
>>
>>77498408

Because he hates Gilbert, the cavs have peaked in terms of potential, they have no real prospects of getting better, and he doesn't want to waste his twilight years on a shitty team
