Jeff Hostetler, Frank Reich, Earl Morall, and Gus Frerotte are guys who come to mind. I think all 4 had full seasons where they were the starter, but also spent a lot of time as backups and did well when called upon for a game or two.

Backup QB is a fun position to talk about because there are so many schools of thought on what makes a good backup. Is it Aaron Rodgers, the clear starter-in-waiting? Or is it Gary Kubiak, who can function as an assistant coach but isn't expected to ever have to play? Something in between?

Brady is in no man's land right now. He's been extraordinary healthy throughout his career and takes great care of his body which helps him, but he's got about 1 year left before you're probably better off betting against him maintaining his current level of production than for it.

I know Zeke certainly isn't helping his case with all the dumb offseason stuff, but you read the details of the DV accusation, there hasn't been a shred of evidence that he did anything. The cops didn't observe any visual evidence of injury to the victim, not a single witness has corroborated her story, and there are supposedly texts from the her saying that she wanted to frame Zeke. She also chose to not press charges until after he came to the NFL and got a payday, which is obviously fishy.

The guy investigating this case on behalf of the NFL is also apparently a self-proclaimed Giants fan which is ridiculous.

I haven't followed it much so I don't know if that's true, but it's what I suspected. He's 4-16 over his last 20 starts. Most QBs would be out of a job after a stretch like that. FTR I never stood for the anthem when I used to go to Fenway and was always kind of creeped out by people who did.

No contending team is gonna risk bringing in such a huge media distraction in the locker room just to have a decent option at backup QB which eliminates 2 of the best fits for him, Seattle and Dallas. Seahawks fans would by and large support Kaep's protest, but not at the cost of inviting even more media distractions to an already very distracted and polarized locker room, and Jerry Jones has never shied away from to taking on controversial players if production comes with it, but a backup QB isn't worth it.

I'm skeptical of the reports of Kaep asking for starter money. Him and his agent would only do if they were intentionally trying to not get signed. It's completely obvious nobody would ever give him that kind of money when he's current situation is comparable to Tebow and Vick when they needed to simply find a team that is willing to even take a chance on them for penny wages.

Backup QB is the absolute least desirable position to have a player that attracts media attention. Even if they're actually very good like Romo behind Dak last year, its a huge headache to deal with.

The NFC opponents are a joke, and the only really lose-able games are @Oakland and @Denver.
They never sweep the division and always lose at least one other game they should win, so it's pretty remote.
12-4 seems to be the default worst-case scenario in recent years, and 15-1 is possible. I don't think it'll be another 16-0 season though. I feel comfortable pegging them at 13-3.
