Yeah the Michelins were failing coming out of the last turn of the F1 track (running back through T1 of the oval circuit) in the 2005 race. All the cars running Michelins did the formation lap and then retired as the cars couldn't complete since the rules forbid tire changes. Michelin said the tires would become unsafe within 10 laps unless they installed a chicane or some form of speed reduction through the last turn. Bridgestone didn't have a problem at all.

It's easy to make friends at a short track, most people are friendly and there to have a good time
Often times the pits are open before and after the racing events so you can mull around, look at cars, chit chat with crews and drivers.
Maybe even get a gig helping one of the crews if you shop whatever talents you have that would be helpful out to them.
