Yeah, Floyd will be really confused, nothing like he has seen before.
bros im worried that GGG came to camp so out of shape this time
>>77235474
im not worried
I think GGG will have an easier time than the jacobs fight
like he didn't knock jacobs out, but thats not because he's crap its just jacobs is clearly very fucking good and a lot better than everyone expected him to be, people who say he looked bad against brook are talking shit
now look at canelo, he's great sure looks flashy when KOing amir khans and liam smiths but really, for the most of his career all he has done is bully manlets and its been shown that floyd even had enough power to stop him in his tracks
this is a much bigger test canelo than it is for GGG
TKO in the 10th
>>77235519
i agree jacobs is fairly easily the 2nd best middleweight
he's young too. he'll dominate once GGG moves up/retires
>>77235519
jacobs came in at light heavy and was on his bike most of the fight, yet ggg still dropped him
>>77235474
Didn't a guy here bet 1500 on ggg? My heart is telling me he's gonna lose this

GET OUUUT
There is a misconception among the newer generations of boxing fans that defense is a "smart" man's way of fighting. This may be true in the most superficial sense, but the reality is far more nuanced.
The object is beat your opponent, not survive them. Defense, as is the case with all other skills related to combat serves a function. That function is to allow one to gain advantage and ultimately defeat their opponent. Defense, for the sake of avoiding or limiting engagement is exactly the opposite of its intended function as it pertains to the game being played.
That is why a low output, highly defensive fighter very rarely attains the status of superstar. Defense, when properly applied should serve as the foundation from which aggression is applied. The greatest fighters in history were those who used defense, via counter-punching, timing, and spacial awareness to devastate their opposition.
Bottom line, defense exists as a means to allow even more precise aggression which in turn amplifies a fighters ability to achieve the ultimate goal. Used as a means to avoid, control, limit, or stifle engagement defense becomes nothing more than an exploit of the system in order to achieve what would otherwise be unachievable.
My proof?
Almost every guy Floyd Mayweather ever out-boxed would beat his ass in a real fight. THAT is why the common fan doesn't like, or appreciate, what some label "skill." They sense that purely defensive based fighters are using an exploit to avoid risk. It's like playing prevent defense in the first quarter of a football game and the common fan recognizes this. It makes no sense when the whole concept of boxing as entertainment is based on the promise of violence in exchange for money!
"I paid for violence and i got a ballet!" is the typical viewpoint, and rightly so.
>>77235519
Yea canelo sucks, remember that time he looked gassed out and beat trout when he was 22? Or that time he was gifted the decision after Lara left everything in the ring.
He sucks, very 1-dimensional, you always know where the punch is coming from and we don't even know if he can take a punch!
On the other hand golovkin is a truly great fighter. Anyone see that Makoto Fuchigami fight? I've never seen such a display of skill and talent in the square circle before in my life! Sure I can talk about the Rosado, Macklin, or Geale fights because those fighters are all legends but I'd rather talk about his bout with Kell Brook! Here's a man of true class, he takes a lower opponent and gives him the chance to fight the GOAT that is Golovkin. Hell he even lets Brook smack him around for a few rounds just to put on a show! Golovkin is class and pure skill, if you took away his punching power we'd be comparing him to Sweet Pea.
>inb4 what about the Jacobs fight
Golovkin had some cramps the day before and also was suffering from the common cold. He still won very clearly but people always want to root for the underdog of course. Don't worry he'll knockout Canelo in their fight so there's no controversy(;
>>77238288
I'm sure that if his kid threw a rubber ball at him, he'd look like he did the night he fought Golovkin.
>>77238766

>>77239139
Where did he say that? Conor having power doesn't surprise me, he's been doing boxing since 16 and he's physically bigger, you can see his single left power is good compared to the average schmuck in the UFC. But Paulie is feather fisted and got stopped by Sam Eggington. Mayweather has a chin to take a punch and he can time him all night.
I would give Conor a chance of going 12 because he gassed before when he went up above his natural weight and now he's at his natural weight and doing altitude training.

>>77243811
Hatton, Maidana, McGuigan, Lewis, Michael Spinks and Nas all did exactly that.
Although, I agree for the most part guys either stay around too long, or blow all their money and are forced to return.
>>77243916
Yeah but most of them came off bad losses and decided to hang them up. Then you got legends like Hearns and Jones who are just trying to die off brain damage.
>>77243960
>came off of bad losses and decide to hang them up
aka, exactly what you should do.
if you get stopped at the end of your career in a bad way thats a sign you should hang em up. Most guys either don't want to believe that, or havent been financially responsible to do that, so they continue.
Jones should have after Tarver or Johnson. Pac should have after Marquez (although he ended up with the mayweather payday), etc etc.
>>77244003

Jesus how the fuck was he getting paid 5million a fight. Why do brits hype up their fucking fighters so much! Is it just because they don't have any good fighters so they have to super hype up the mediocre ones like hamed, khan, frampton, hatton, and such?

>>77248114
Tzuyu fought a fight a year after 2001 then lost to hatton. What was p4p best for? Beating Chavez in 2000 or knocking out someone as irrelevant as zab.
Sure hatton beat kostya but then he got exposed for as a weakling as soon as he fought real opposition. That's why he almost committed suicide like a little punk ass bitch after the mayweather fight.
>>77244109
Hatton really was irrelevant to the American market before his fight with Floyd faggweather. Hamed was just a real madman spectacle I guess.
I still believe that brits are really blind and hype their fighters up a shit ton, possibly more so than any other country.
Also just thought of this but why do British fighters kick off their careers by beating up old Mexicans ?
>>77249918

>>77249918
I dont think he got beat up. Probably got caught by some good shots considering he is out of shape and retired, and McGregor camp is good at selling as if he beats people up. Remember whe they edited the video with Van Heerden and seemed like Conor was beating him up?
>>77242704

>>77250846
I bet Conor tried to knock him out in the first round to shut him up, landed the left and gave him a bruised eye which you can see in the ESPN interview but didn't put him down which is why they did 8 rounds. It's like Ted Cheeseman vs Mayweather.
VADA is mandatory in the ORGs now. This wrestling tiered promotion is the only way Mayweather can get juiced for a big fight. USADA is doing the testing, Mayweather owns USADA.

Anyone have any info on the Aloyan show today? I thought it was supposed to be a big one, taking place in the Red Square and all, but there has been so little coverage that I'm starting to doubt it's even happening
There should just be one world title
>>77252966
but then how would boxing commissions get the big moneys
>>77252966
Clearly, but it's difficult to see how that could be accomplished now with so many competing interests in the sport. Step one could be for boxing writers to stop acknowledging the extraneous titles, or at least inform their readership of the context when describing some random IBO title holder as a "world champion", but most of the prominent ones seem way too cosy with the various promoters for them to do something like that. For example it's a joke that the WBO is seen as "major title" when they almost exclusively work with Top Rank and Queensberry. It's basically a parallel league with no relation to the main body of boxing at this point

>>77254211
Shouldn't affect the actual competition this time, but it could mean it's a one-off and not an annual thing like they hoped it would be
I think it was a mistake to do two weight classes simultaneously and give each quarter-final bout its own show. They could just put all four quarter-final bouts of one weight class together on one bumper show. Might lose a bit of ticket revenue but would be good for TV
>>77254259
Wilder has to because VADA is mandatory with the WBC. USADA test UFC so it's who normally tests McGregor.
>>77254349
Honestly an annual tournament seems like overkill to me, but I'd like to see it open the door to something similar in a deeper division. I like the idea of cramming all the quarters together
>>77254520
>Honestly an annual tournament seems like overkill to me
I think it would be amazing. Let's face it we cant trust the alphabet groups to promote the best facing the best on any sort of regular basis. None of the alphabet titles are inherently meaningful any more, although I'd say that the WBO is inherently less meaningful than the other big three. The Ring has also lost its prestige. Really you now just have to come to your own conclusions about individual fighters based on who they beat. You can't trust any of the "official" rankings any more

Showtime doesn't have anything to do with drug testing, they put on the production and collect a percentage of the profits.
>>77255317
I'm not arguing that Floyd doesn't have USADA in his pocket. He might bend the rules for the McGregor fight. Just saying Wilder doesn't have much choice. His main rival Anthony Joshua was VADA tested for Klitschko and is year round tested by UKAD. It's the older fighters like Ortiz and Povetkin that are going to want to cheat.

The worst thing is that UKAD is probably in on it because he's so big at this point that it's probably seen as a matter of national prestige. And the even worse thing is that I don't care either because I'd rather see super heavyweight juicers knocking lumps out of each other than a bunch of fat slobs hugging and sweating all over each other for world championships
>>77256152
He asked for VADA testing because it was going to hurt the 41 year old more than him. If he fights Wilder it would be VADA tested because of the WBC. So if he can manage to pass the most stringent test it doesn't really matter what he might have done.

Official /box/ mascots Tyson Fury and Eubank Sr are picking Conor to win
>In Moscow, the evening ended with boxing, the main event of which was a duel for the WBC Silver title in the second flyweight title between Misha Aloyan (2-0, 0 KOs) and Marvin Solano (19-2, 7 KOs). The fight went through all 12 rounds, and Aloyan won 119-119, 118-110, 117-111. So he won the WBC Silver belt in the second fight in the professional ring.
>On the undercard of Aloyan's duel there were several interesting meetings. So Stanislav Kashtanov overcame the unanimous decision of the judges Sergei Khomitsky. And Fedor Chudinov, who conducted the first fight after the defeat of George Gruvza, in two rounds coped with Argentinean Honatan Borbadillo.

Very impressive start to his pro career for Aloyan. He should enter the WBC top 15 now and will probably get a title shot within 12-18 months
Incidentally, Google translate has really improved since I last used it
So BT Sport has Saunders vs Monroe Jr, Smith vs Williams II, Nurse vs Catterall, Warrington vs Selby and Flanagan vs Verdejo lined up for the next boxing season, while Sky Sports has Murray vs Chavez Jr, Fielding vs Brophy, Stalker vs Dodd and Barrett vs Ritson. Or will people instead choose to #stayhumble and pay the £60 per fight for Anthony Joshua knocking out the bloated carcass of the heavyweight division for the next 10 years?
>>77257883
>Sky will buy Mayweather vs McGregor
they picked it over the GGG/Canelo fight
>>77257883
>He'll have the Callum Smith fight
That's not certain yet. I think Sky are still favourites to get the WBSS since it features three of their fighters and it'd be a good filler for their new Arena channel, but Hearn has hinted that they may not
>Jorge Linares vs Luke Campbell as well
Forgot about that. It's always nice to see Linares but it's a bit of a mismatch in theory
>Fight Nights have been very poor but Sky will buy Mayweather vs McGregor and have Joshua vs Klitschko 2 on PPV so won't really care
They're in danger of becoming a one man outfit, like Golden Boy with Canelo. It's a bad time to become complacent with Warren rapidly growing in power again and McGuigan, Poxton and Haye claiming their own little slices of the boxing landscape on terrestrial TV

They won't charge £60 that won't wash in the UK. The max they can push it to is £24.95
>>77257980
We get it cheap compared to what the US market pays, but when there's joke fights like Bellew/Haye demanding PPV and ITV setting up a new venture to accommodate Junior it wouldn't surprise me for them to start increasing the price. They would get less buys though, so I don't think anything will be £60 just yet. Noticed how the picked the 26th though which is the bank holiday in the UK?

Not sure why you're interested in canelo but he hasn't really fought at middleweight besides cotto. But in the light middleweight division he fought erslandy Lara, Austin trout, and Liam smith. All at the time were close to the top of their division.
One fight I really wish would happen was Lara vs Ggg. I think GGG's ability to cut off the ring paired with Lara's boxing talent and stuff punches would be a super competitive fight.

>>77275643
To have success against Floyd you need to be quick on your toes, get him against the ropes and really hustle. Conor doesn't fight like that and looking at that photo, Floyd is going to make him look really stupid.
>>77276297
Yeah it takes a rugged in-fighter to beat Floyd, even though he's not exactly helpless on the inside himself (he beat Hatton at his own game for example). I think Chavez and Duran are the two guys historically who would for sure have beaten Mayweather
>>77276378
He's taller than them with more reach, at light welter up I'd take Floyd.
>>77276685
Castillo and Maidana were also shorter with shorter arms. Having seen those fights I just can't envision Mayweather overcoming prime Chavez and Duran
I take it that you think the way to beat Floyd is on the outside then? So a Tommy Hearns sort of fighter? Maybe even Paul Williams and Erislandy Lara, to name two fighters he could have actually fought?
>>77276685
Wouldn't really matter for Chavez. He'd walk through floyds punches and break him down. So many of Chavez's fights ended with the other fighters body just no longer responding. So many shots to any open area just killed their bodies. Look at floyds uncle in the second fight
>>77270139
>took huge risks leaving himself exposed
You mean how he normally fights? Unless he's fighting a completely incompetent fighter or athletically more gifted fighter
>>77276378
I think a younger Oscar would have beaten Floyd
>>77276779
The first Maidana fight was arguably a draw but he was having a bit of an off night. Duran got beat by Sugar Ray Leonard so he's losing to Floyd. He always adjusts, it would be harder fighting the likes of Paul Williams because he's a lot bigger and Floyd isn't really a 154 fighter
>>77277044
>younger Oscar
Bob Arum didn't let de la Hoya fight Mayweather, and de la Hoya didn't want to fight Mayweather until he became a big (ie would make alot of money) name
Same goes for Mosley
>>77277111
Floyd forced Maidana to wear different gloves too, with more padding, not the ones that Maidana wanted and was accustomed to.
>>77277111
SRL had higher activity and more of a deterrent than Floyd. And that could also be argued to have been an off-night for Duran
>>77277367
I think that a 61 year old Sugar Ray Leonard would give Conor McGregor problems. By the way, why was No Mas removed from Netflix?
All bums should be holocausted.

I unironically think Khan had a really good style to beat mayweather.
I wouldn't favor him but Id give him the best chance of all recent welterweights.
Seriously hyped for Saturday guys. It's gonna be a good one
>>77282826
Broner's looking pretty good at making weight already.
It will be a spicy banger for sure.

I'm hyped for whatever garcias next fight is. Don't really care about this fight as much because he's going to knock the fuck out of broner. Want to see him against better competition which there is plenty of

Saving this for when this inevitably doesn't happen.
If anyone is getting KOed, it's Mikey Garcia. Otherwise one of them is winning by decision.

I think that it will be a great fight no matter what. I'm leaning more towards Mikey winning UD but it also depends on how much work he can do for 12 rounds, remember he still hasn't gone the distance since he came back

I think to beat floyd you have to outwork him and be the agressor like de la hoya did, but also be more successful than oscar in the exchanges instead of wasting punches on the guard
>>77287307
Yeah. Go to the body and just keep throwing punches no matter what but beyond 3 rounds he won't have the work rate for that
>>77286763

Regardless, if you think Garcia is going to be able to KO Broner or will even go for a KO against Broner then you literally know nothing about Boxing and are just buying into the Garcia hype train.
I can buy him winning a decision, it's literally not possible for him to get the KO.

Garcia knows better than to try to put away Broner. He's talking shit like he doesn't respect Broner's power but on fight night he'll be staying far, far away.
>>77287770
Heavyweight is slow and boring anyway. Plus you will be healthier when you get old.
>>77287766
>it's literally not possible for him to get the KO.
I love the "when you go up in weight class all your power suddently disappear or people 10lbs heavier than you suddently have titanium chin" meme
>>77287932
I never said anything about Mikey's power being gone. My point is that he WILL respect Broner's power, and thus he won't be risking a KO.
>>77287792
Broner is a tough mother fuckr but garcia know how to ko people. 50/50 the ko happening tbqh
>>77287932
People forget that he also came back last year at 140. Yeah it was a lesser opponent but he still knocked him down like 4 times
>Broner will be fined $500,000 dollars if he fails to make weight.

Smith vs Skoglund and Groves vs Cox now have dates set (Sept 16th and Oct 14th respectively) but no television deal announced

Creatine has been loosely linked to balding though. It's hard to tell whether that's legit, but I personally don't want to risk my hair.
Although I really can't imagine how it could lead to balding. It's mechanism is pretty well understood I think, and it shouldn't have anything to do with your hormones or hair...
Who knows. But yeah, it's for sure allowed.

I didn't want to write an essay about what's wrong with everyone's opinions on here.
Garcia won't "go for a KO", he'll just do his thing and box extremely solid. After several rounds of having landed great shots a KO will come. You can screenshot this if you want I don't give a fuck I know what's happening.
