Forgot to add that this was in the iddle of a promotion battle on the last matchday. I was 2nd in the league but a loss could've meant 3rd (playoffs rather than automatic promotion) or even 4th (no promotion) since I was only a point ahead the other two teams and had worse GD. We lost because of Rothenbücher, and I was lucky enough to have both other contenders lose too so that I could get immedaite promotion regardless.

use regular centre backs man not stopper/cover or they will create imbalances that your opponents strikers may exploit

use support or attack fullbacks - automatic duty sets them to use the same mentality as the team which means they will play very differently depening on what mentality your team is on

do your instructions make sense? do you want your team to smack the ball straight up the pitch into the box, bypassing your midfield? personally i'd remove your team instructions, watch how your team plays for a few games with no instructions and see if you might want to make any changes then

team instructions are not required to have a functioning tactic, roles and duties will have a much greater effect on how your players play individually and therefore how your team functions as a whole
