As soon as round 7, 8 and 9 went by without anything more from Wlad like round 6 I had a feeling the fight was going to go to AJs favor. Sure Wlad had the experience but AJ had all that time to recover without too much incident AND he's a hell of a lot younger. He really did have that one chance to end it and he blew it by gassing out, missing hooks and getting clinched too much.

Lomachenko is a bit weird. He's probably more neutral, but he's a Russian-Ukranian ethnicity-wise, he speaks no ukrainian. He's best buddies with Usyk which is a huge Ukrainian patriot and was a figurehead during the Maidan protests. But he's buddies with Kovalev too. Weird overall.

This. Everyone says heavyweights aren't what they used to be, but I'm pretty sure any ATG from any time in history would have trouble taking a good punch from one of these gargantuan sized fighters.
>>

What they mean is that the level of technique has gone to shit. Fury purely by having any rudimentary boxing skills at all (and some size admittedly) runs rings around the lumps he faces.

>>75622079

Got the same feeling. Wlad shouldn't have let him get his confidence back. It was one of his primary advantages and once AJ realized he could hang in there, it gave him a second wind and Wlad relied too much on that leaping left hook imo. It was slower than he thinks and he telegraphed it too much. Wish he would've used the stiff jab more and put doubt into Joshua's head by busting up his nose and blooding his mouth/eyes.

Damn good fight tho. I'm a cynical veteran of the sport and this shit had me excited like a casual noob. I'd like a rematch.

That's the real casual filter, believing that because he beat Wlad. Fury is basic as fuck and only wins because the people he faces are even worse, Cunningham is the only guy apart from Wlad he's faced with any technique at all and he looked fucking shit and had to cheat to win.
>>
>>75622934
>he can move pretty well
and that's what separates him. he's massive but he moves better than someone 3/4ths his size. last I checked footwork fell into boxing skill, so that's what I assume that guy was saying when he mentioned Fury being a casual filter.

In any weight division apart from Heavy or Cruiser those things (aside from the ambidextrous thing) would be expected. The fact that it's impressive is a damning indictment on the division which is my exact point. He can do the basics well which is enough when he's facing lumps.
>>
>>75623136

foot movement is pretty basic stuff m8. i know the crop of hw's is so pathetic they can barely walk properly but any decent boxer can learn how to move and pivot properly. its more an indictment of the current crop of big stiff idiots and plumbers with gay lovers polluting boxing than Fury's ability.

You know its shit when a guy gets credit for being able to do the basics. Lel

Wlad wasn't in any immediate danger when the stoppage happened, if the ref thought he was in real trouble around then he should have stopped it after the second knockdown

Either way the stoppage isn't the main point of my post
>>
>>75623383
Maybe I'm being a bit harsh because I actually think it's gone the other way. The performance against Wlad has morphed into this ATG display over the months that I really just don't think it is. Heavyweight division plays out like this over the next couple of years:

> Wlad doesn't enforce the rematch and retires. He might have a farewell fight in Germany against a fringe contender (maybe Bellew or Whyte) but he's no longer relevant
> Wilder takes the belt from Parker
> Joshua and Wilder fight at the end of 2017 with AJ KOing Wilder
> Fury comes back for a summer 2018 fight against AJ, but pulls out and retires again before it happens
> Joshua is the recognised champ with literally nobody relevant to fight. Has stupid meme defences like a Whyte rematch and Pulev

We need Tyson Fury back to save the division. Joshua will be too dominant otherwise.

He was an unknown who mostly padded records for prospects. Has losses to a couple decent guys like Vassily Jirov, Rydell Booker, and Orlin Norris, but other than that he was just a low-level journeyman.

I have absolutely no proof of this whatsoever but I've always thought that the one glove deal was a result of someone wondering aloud how he would tap when submitted. His match with Royce Gracie was a pretty obvious dive in my opinion.

The quigg fight was ok but it didn't really have anything riding on it in the same way and we all knew what would happen. Hearn has so many prospects now that he has to ram his undercards full of them fighting mismatches which is a shame when some of these local area fights can be like that.

How much do you reckon the undercarders get paid on an international PPV? I know Joshua and Klitschko split the main event purse £15m each.

Depends, Chisora and Whyte on the Molina card will both have been paid 7 figures. On the Joshua cards Campbell and Quigg will have been paid 6 figures, Cordina and Campbell/Quiggs opponents will have been paid 5 figures and Cordinas opponent 4 figures. Certainly not very much compared to how much the fight made but you can see why, all the casuals in the stadium weren't even watching it.

why wouldn't it? if wilder parker happens and joshua faces pulev and gives ortiz step aside money its all set up for a unification battle
>>
>>75639816
ortiz already said he won't take the step aside money
>>
>>75639816
Joshua won't want to face Pulev for no money after the Wlad fight, it would be such a comedown. It'll either be Whyte or a rematch, book it.

>>75639832
I fully expect Ortiz to be made mandatory for the regular title rather than Joshuas because that kicks the problem away for another year or so while Briggs Oquendo happens. The WBA are Matchrooms go to body and they won't want Ortiz champion in any case.
>>
>>75639866
How good is Ortiz' chin? (is this how you use the apostrophe with a z?)
You think he coukd take out AJ if he had a shot?
>>
>>75639866
if whyte is going down the wbc route against wach i could see whyte wilder in london and the winner facing joshua,
>>
>>75639916
that makes the most sense, would be a good fight too.
>>
>>75639888
Nah you have to write Ortiz's. English is stupid a lot of the time, always amazes me when non-natives have it mastered as well as you and the Greek given I'm so shit at easier languages.

The thing about Ortiz's is that he's such a good boxer his chin has never really even been tested properly in what I've seen of him. He's definitely older than he says he is though and is slowing with every fight, if AJ fights him in a year I don't think he has much of a chance desu
>>
>>75639916
It'll either be that or Bellew Wilder I imagine. He wants a place on the UK boxing money train whatever happens.
>>
>>75639952
An Eddie hearn wet dream. Dunno how parker and the wbo fit into that equation but both aj and Parker are young enough to wait a little
>>75639971
I don't think ortiz is as good as people think. He hasn't fought anybody yet and he will probably be too old when he gets to fight aj or wilder. Not too mention him being caught with drugs making him a big no no marketing wise

Thanks man, learning languages is pretty easy if you do 2 things, start young, and have a pretty big exposure to said language, I completely understand why it's harder for brits and americans as they do not need to be exposed to other languages.

It's a pretty big shame most cubans start boxing professionally so late, but it's not like they have much of a choice.

I've got no proof but I always thought that a lot of Royce Gracie's wins at the early UFC's were worked fights. The events were in large part put together by the Gracie family to bolster their reputation so it makes sense

I don't buy that he so easily defeated Ken shamrock who was a good grappler, I don't buy he defeated that giant continental European judo champion and I don't buy he could actually beat Dan Severn

When did Tyson Fury become the modern day Muhammad Ali?

I was watching the fight at a pub the other day and the amount of hilarious comments I was hearing about Fury got me thinking this. I see the same comments on this general.

He looked like shit against Wlad, they both looked like complete shit. Fury looked bad because he looked like a lumbering oaf and Wlad looked bad because the punch buttons on his PS3 controller weren't working.

Why are people acting like Tyson Fury (the guy who got lumped on his ass by a Cruiser weight) is suddenly this boxing genius?

It was a legitimately very impressive win, but I agree it's been blown out of all proportion.

He's not very likeable. He's clearly got a massive ego underneath the #humble public persona and he just chats pure pseudointellectual platitudinous shit when his IQ is probably around 80

On a boxing level his style isn't that aesthetic. It's mainly just about doing the basics well (the only thing I particularly like is his uppercut)
>>
>>75641446
because he got gifted the gold medal (lost in quarters and final) and because he's popular. The former is our minds trying to justify the later. But it's most likely insecurity. He does give me the feeling like he'll dominate for the next many years and will get much more credit than Wlad, even though Wlad will always be the better ATG heavyweight unless Joshua pulls miracles.
>>
>>75641446
I wasn't his biggest fan before because it felt like he'd been gifted everything. He got a very dodgy result at the Olympics to win him a medal he didn't deserve and was then fighting on PPV against nobodies on the back of it.

doesn't look like AJ will have any better competition in the following 5 years. Went life and death with a 41 years old Wlad. Say what you want, but these are just facts. As I said - he needs to prove a lot still to be at THAT kind of level.

Joshua was out on his feet on the sixth only age helping him, spit out his mouthguard in the next round to buy time when he was hurt, held Vlads' head down so he could land the uppercut in the 11th, first knockdown in that round was Joshua hitting Vlad behind the head not a legal blow, leading up the second knockdown Joshua missed most of the shots, landed and Vlad got up fairly quickly, Vlad proceeded to roll, block and dodge every time Joshua threw as Joshua was gassing and then referee stops it in the middle of Vlad showing great defense. alertness and Joshua missing almost everything so the referee came in and help give Joshua the victory.
LMAO!
You knuckle dragging UK fags don't know shit, you faggots here on this board are too fucking stupid to realize what you saw.
Vlad was winning the fight in many people's estimation up until that round, he could have easily survived the 11th round, was blocking and defending when the fight was stopped, Joshua was gassing, he could come out and KOed a gassed Joshua in the next round just like he did in the sixth after getting dropped in the 5th.

Joshua was protected against an old man in this fight.
Hearn knows that Joshua is too vulnerable with weak defense, can gas easily and has a weak chin.
Guess what is coming next for Joshua? Protected cherry picking, a lot of bullshit opponents are coming his way to protect him from threats while making him look good, he'll get KOs against cherry picks and the typical brain dead UK fag will cheer it to high heaven.
He will duck every top level fighter until they are ripe for the picking.
Fury? Not until he is 500 pounds or out of the ring for another year, if ever.
Ortiz? He's getting old and breaking down, but still too good they'll push that fight back a few years.
Povetkin who has only every lost to Vlad? He's already "failed" two drug tests according to idiots, despite Joshua being a clear PED freak.
Just what the sport needs, another protected hype job.

More to add.
Joshua's defense was shit, his only way of not getting hit was to either be too far to punch or clinch, now compare that Vlad who could roll, block and dodge shots even at his advanced age.
Some idiots are saying that it's better for the sport if Joshua won. Hahaha!
Klitxchko was a guy that took all comers, whereas I can guarantee Joshua is a guy that will duck all comers.
He's not good enough to win against everybody and clear a division, the only way to have him be the star of the division is if he avoids dangerous fighters and you better believe that is what Hearn is going to do with him, too much money is on the line for him to let Joshua's star fall.
I can see Joshua's future, ducks and bribes are in store for him.
I previously hadn't made up my mind on Joshua, not until he was really tested.
He finally got his chance, an old, rusty, beaten, weak chinned Klitschko, the worst version of him anyone has seen in over 15 years, maybe ever and it almost backfired, Joshua almost failed that test, only a favorable referee and a too old man let him scrape by.
Joshua is not the future of the division, unless he grows immensely with his defense and accuracy in the next year or two, highly unlikely.

His head movement saved him from being KOed in round six when Wlad was looking to nail him with a leaping left hook. But I agree that head movement doesn't seem natural to him yet. He needs to train and train and train until it's automatic. It is quite evident from his style that he was a late starter

Hurtful windmills
>>
Does Wlad have a weak chin? He went down against Sanders, Purrity, Brewster, and now Joshua.
>>

1. He's australian
2. His record is dogshit

Wow what a great win for Junior.

Greatest Dutch fighter

It's not bad, it's just average for his weightclass, unlike Vitali.
>>
>>75645650
Wlads chin was all ways less of a problem than that he would panic and not know how to handle adversity in. It's not particularly special either mind, fairly middle of the road stuff.
>>
>>75645650
no, its just not iron or granite
if you or me ate that uppercut from AJ we'd be in a much worse state

Wlads is average

Vitalis is granite

How to spot a pleb: The Post

I warned you before about outing yourself as an irredeemable casual but this is just getting embarrassing now lad, cut your losses.
>>
Getting really triggered by all the britcasuals insisting on giving us their pearls of wisdom ITT after watching one fight Tbh.

Klitschko was gassed in the sixth, that's the only reason he survived, he was almost stationary against the ropes in that later half of that round, I did see him use head movement to dodge one or two of those leaping hooks, but by then Vladimir was too tired to do anything with it and couldn't finish him, a bit younger Klitschko would have.
>>75645587
You think I'm wrong, point out what's wrong.
Did Joshua have a great performance that night in your opinion? If so, why?
Did Joshua not miss most of his punches in the 11th round? Go watch replays, especially in slow motion of that round, you will see exactly how good Vlad's defense was during the whole thing, you will see Joshua holding Vlad's head, hitting him behind the head and so on.
Don't bitch out by saying that no one should respond seriously.
Prove me wrong, point out my errors, if you can't, maybe I'm right.
I definitely rewatched the replays multiple tiems and in slow motion to make sure I saw what I saw and indeed I did, bad stoppage, foul ko, poor accuracy on Joshua's part, good defense on Vlad's, Joshua was losing the rounds, getting outboxed, etc.

Just look at these amazing warriors Reynold has faced.
>>
>>75645845
I mean you're not wrong for the most part, Joshua is very limited but so is pretty much all the division. Heavyweights are pretty fucking shit to watch for the most part.

The main thing you're wrong on is that Hearn will try to protect him. AJ's contract is up in just over a year and he'll either negotiate a much, much more favourable split or leave Matchroom altogether to do his own thing. Hearn doesn't have long to squeeze out the big bucks while he still takes 20% of everything AJ does.

And here are ATG boxers that Junior faced until his first loss against Saunders, but that was expected against such a brilliant ring technician and defence master extraordinair as BJS.
>>
>>75645703
Speak for yourself pussy

I'd have Joshua no problemo
>>
>>75645948

If he does leave matchroom he'll be going to America which would be a bit sad

Not going to happen. You need to work with Hearn to get on Sky. It's that simple
>>
>>75646039
I'd just get him in a headlock and make him tap out, easy peasy
>>
>>75644162

I saw that some sloot I went to high school with who I assume has no interest in sports liked an AJ insta photo.
