the memest of the QBs in this draft

he throws the prettiest egg, but has somewhat bad accuracy, makes a lot of bad decisions and plays in an offense where he really doesn't read the field too deeply.

imo
>>
>>74248670
Full report is that Romo expecting release, not trade, and believes he can start as #NFL QB 2-3 more seasons despite turning 37, injury history.

But the Cowboys are still trying to trade him, preferably find a deal with a team Romo wants to play for.

Essentially the Cowboys are going out of their way to accommodate Romo's wishes.

I don't care if they do. I'm a Browns fan, so as long as they leave some of the QBs on Cleveland's radar alone, I'll be happy. Davis Webb had an extensive and good "talk" with Hue Jackson during the Senior Bowl.
>>
>>74249165

Steelers fan here. Meh, Jones is an ok backup, better than what we've had since Charlie Batch retired (the original GOAT backup). He was better than Vick last year, and performed fairly well against the Patriots and Browns when thrown in there this year.

Every mock draft I've seen outside of a Mongolian cartoon exchange has Cook gone by then and either Corey Davis/Mike Williams or a corner for you, sorry

Also why would you even want a RB with bust written all over him, the kid's highlight reel is 50% runs where he doesn't even get touched
>>

Hoodie hasnt been an amazingly fantastic drafter throughout his career, particularly with RBs and WRs. He makes enough decisions correctly that he gets praised for his drafting abilities, but that's cause people forget about guys like Laurence Maroney and Cyrus Jones. What he has excelled at is turning players no one wants into stars. Your edelmans, Welkers and Dion Lewis's. That's how he can keep an elite team with minimal Paygrade

1. mathews is getting cut/sproles is old, and i don't trust barner or smallwood
2. cornerback class is incredibly deep this year, and the two best CB prospects were off the board anyway
3. i think the eagles are going to sign one of the top WR free agents
4. dalvin cook is possibly a top 5 prospect in the entire draft, and his game compares well to jamaal charles, the lynchpin of the offense our head coach is used to running

no, a lot of people were saying they were right not to pay a 30 year old corner that much money

>>
>>74253658
peppers, charlton, and wormley have a chance to go in the first round. jourdan lewis will most likely go in the first 3 rounds, and darboh, butt, and glasgow are all likely mid-rounders as well.
>>
>>74253662

Nice revisionist history duder. You're either not from New England or you've suffered a concussion recently.

People were all over Bill about it. Just like they were all over him for letting Chandler Jones and then Jamie Collins go. Every time Bill makes one of these moves, lets a "star" go, he catches shit, but you think this one time with Revis was different for some reason?

out of those guys? i like jourdan lewis, even if he's kind of small. could be a good slot corner in the NFL. charlton is very good but we don't really have a need for him, same with peppers but i don't really think he'll be that good in the NFL.

butt's ACL injury makes me a little worried, but i'd still take him in the 3rd or 4th. amara daborh is a great big-body WR and i'd love him in the mid-rounds. wormley and glasgow are good, but the eagles are stacked with DTs right now.

oh just another dumb nigger that cant be coached because he relied on jumping and offensive P.I.

This is the same team who drafted Cordarelle Patterson with a 1st also. the last one before that was percy harvin.

anyways treadwell just cant get timing on routes correct and he doesnt know how to adapt to schemes I guess.
he might be a borderline TE red zone threat next year though. just brought in for jump balls with simple routes.

>>
>>74256813
I think people are not giving cleveland enough credit. They've been doing a lot to get in the right place since that trent richardson trade. I don't think they fall into the Jimmy G meme. If they do 2 games isn't enough to jump his draft stock from a late 2nd to a 1st round pick.
>>
>>74256880
Cleveland's money ball approach will work out for them

the steelers are fucked when ben retires and the ravens keep making their team older, cleveland could seriously have that division in 3-5 years if they play their cards right.
>>
>>74256924
I was thinking back in like 2015 it would have been in a couple years until they begin making pushes for playoffs. They have 1st and 12th overall picks. This could be the draft that defines who the browns are going to be moving forward.
>>
>>74256957
Not just 1st and 12th overall, they also have like three 2nd round picks and the highest pick in the 3rd round. They're completely stacked on picks so we'll see if they manage to brown them away.
>>
>>74247814
I'm sorry, but Woon wasn't a good QB and has absolutely no business being in the hall of fame. He was decent at best as a QB, and that's it. Never won a super bowl, never did shit but play for a long time.

>>

>>
>>74257001

>>
>>74256957
This and the next. The approach to free agency will be a big tell as well. As far as the Garop meme, they're not going to move on any of their picks save for maybe a 4th rounder (where they could grab a QB anyway).

The problem with Jimmy G is that BB has a terrible track record of drafting QBs save for falling ass backwards into Tom Brady. The current superstition in the NFL is that just by being in the mere presence of BB and Tom Brady guarantees success by osmosis or some shit. The truth is that it doesn't work that way and the statistics back that up. Very little to no success from any backup of Brady's. At this point, no team or GM should be that awestruck or gullible.
>>
>>74257028
>free agency
We should unload a bunch of money into free agent guard and tackles, there are some pretty good ones available. Then focus on QB and the defense in the draft.
>>
>>74256972
Only if they reach for a QB. Other than that, they can't do much wrong. This season is going to be another wash anyway (6-10 at best). The new regime is taking the proper steps though. The MLB approach makes sense in context: resign proven young quantities, move all veterans in a downturn aside from ELITE ones (Joe Thomas), fill the roster with high ceiling prospects and young (rookie and 1 year guys) unprovens. The only aspect out of reach right now is finding a future Ace (Franchise QB).
>>
>>74257054
Don't reach period, for any position. Don't draft for need, always pick BPA. Remember when we drafted for need and ended up with the likes of Weeden and Manziel and those shitty TEs I can't even remember the names of.
>>
>>74257045
I wonder if they'll go C and G. I know the Zietler dude from Cincy is probably gone and will be the top G free agent, that gets rid of Greco. Need a Center though. LT and LG are known quantities, RT might be a shuffle. RG and C are a clusterfuck.

Tony Jefferson would be a great fit at FS. I wouldn't mind them looking at DB as well and moving on from Haden. I've always liked Joe Haden and still do, but he's turned into an injury machine who can't stay consistent.
>>
>>74257064
>Don't draft for need, always pick BPA
I hate this meme.
>>
>>74257064
I never said they should reach. I just said that a QB isn't in the cards this year in the draft. Maybe in a mid round. The MLB model doesn't base itself on need. It's the basis of the idea that a roster is fluid, always changing. I'll use Barnidge as an example. He's a good TE and the penciled in starter, but if they have an opportunity to upgrade, go for it. What if Barnidge gets hurt? Then you have to have someone just as good to fill in.
>>
>>74257064
Also, Evan Moore was a badass TE until he got hurt.
>>
>>74257081
It's not a meme. Seattle did exactly that for several years and went from a bottom feeder to a Superbowl winner in like three seasons. Minnesota in 2007 had a 1000+ yard runner, they didn't NEED a RB yet they still picked Peterson because he was the clear BPA, it worked out pretty well for them.

Not to mention that QBs and OTs are generally extremely risky positions and if you focus on drafting those for need you'll almost guaranteed to end up with a bust.

>>
>>74257162
Good argument for em anyway. Edwards was good for three seasons, then decided it was cooler to make highlight reel catches instead of anything near his chest. The only WR I've ever seen make one handed diving grabs and one handed end zone grabs but fail to catch anything near his body (I've literally watched footballs hit him in the facemask twice in the same game and he made a leaping grab for 40 yards).

Winslow was an injury babby. Hillis almost ended up in a mental ward, Anderson decided he wanted a huge contract and Phil Savage told him to fuck off, Barnidge was helped by McCown meming it to him all game, and Gordon decided it was party time.
>>
>>74257181
>Anderson decided he wanted a huge contract and Phil Savage told him to fuck off

Also, he was Derek Anderson. Dude was absolute garbage for the rest of his career.
>>
>>74257181
I think Anderson should've been paid, I know he's been backup material for years now but he plays pretty solid when he gets chance. He surely wouldn't have been worse than the clusterfuck of Weeden, Manziel, RG3, Delhomme, Wallace and whoever the fuck was there. Perhaps on par with Hoyer.
>>
>>74257206
Nah, that was the one time I could agree with the asshat that is Phil Savage. One year doesn't justify that kind of money (look at Osweiler). That's one of the ongoing problems in the NFL with flash in the pan QBs.

I'd agree with you if they actually managed to replace him with something better but they only got garbage at QB. At this point I kind of hope they stick with Kessler for the next two years to at least have some kind of consistency, we're changing QBs like every 3 months on average.

They also went through 5 coaches over that span and 3 front offices. Not entirely the QBs fault when you never have time to learn a system before the next one is presented. That was on the previous owner, Randy Lerner, who only wanted profits and didn't give a fuck all about the NFL, just his shitty kickball team over in Europa (his true passion). AL (RIP) was probably spinning in his grave over his retarded son, as Al wanted to revive Cleveland back to where it left off in the mid 90s (playoffs). Constant turnover in coaching philosophy and FO direction will kill any team regardless of what players are on the field.
>>

He entered himself in rehab and keeps making mentions about how he can't wait to get back to Cleveland. The only problem is that the Browns don't want him back. They're offering support until he finishes treatment, then cutting all ties (if they haven't already).
>>

Browns have been "offering support" for the last three years, other team would've cut him long time ago.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if he gets cut and then the Patriots sign him for veteran minimum and he'll have an all pro season.

I've never been a Romo guy. I've always felt like Cowboys are best when they run the ball. Romo was always injured. Wished they gone elite RB sooner. Seems like the O line and Demarco Murray was when they started beating up on people.

I'm honestly surprised at the number of players who now all of a sudden want to stay in Cleveland. I think there's a goddamn hypnotist or something in Berea just brainwashing the shit out of these guys. You're right about the support with one exception. The last FO and staff wanted him back. This new one...they want him wiped from everything entirely. Hue won't even touch the issue. "We support him, but we need to move forward. Move on. That's all I'm going to say. I'm not going to talk about Josh Gordon anymore. That's done."
>>

It's Hue Jackson, I remember the Raiders players saying how much they love him years before he became a Browns coach, he's also well loved in Cincy, players just generally want to play with him. Massive improvement over an emotionless, mentally deficient fucktard like Pettine.

Remember when around 2011 it looked like the Saints were gonna be the birth of a new dynasty?

What went wrong?

no defense
>>
Will Sean Payton be fired next season if they don't make the playoffs?
>>
>>74257532
Always been the defense, even when they won the super bowl. Brees is so overlooked on how fucking good he is. All these 5000yd seasons but with no super bowl leaves only the defense in question.

>bountygate
>coach banned for a year
>losing their best O-lineman and overpaying a bunch of dogshit FAs
>no defense
They actually rebounded in 2013, made the divisional round of the playoffs and their defense was top 5 in the league. Then they got rid of some key defensive players, signed Champ Bailey (who never played a single snap), Jairus Byrd for a monumental contract (he's been either hurt or playing like ass since then) and drafted a bunch of busts.
Then they traded away Jimmy Graham, their two best core players (Colston and Evans) got old and their best pass rusher got filmed whipping some women on a beach with his belt and got cult. Pretty much fell off a cliff after that.

He wants to be on the Patriots.. No one is going to want to draft him only the Pats.

Looking at their 2011 roster:

QB Brees - still on the team
FB Collins - cut two years later
WR Colston - got old
WR Henderson - retired
TE Graham - traded
LT Bushrod - traded
LG Nicks - left in FA
C De La Puente - left in FA
RG Evans - still on the team, but he's shit
RT Strief - left in FA

DE Smith - cut in 2013 (now dead)
DE Jordan - still on the team
DT Ellis - retired
DT Rogers - retired
MLB Vilma - injured to hell and back, retired
OLB Shanle - retired
OLB Dunbar - left in FA
CB Greer - underrated as fuck corner, got hurt in 2013, never recovered and retired
CB Porter - left in FA
FS Jenkins - left in FA
SS Harper - left in FA, signed with the Panthers, now he's back but he's garbage

He's still with the Saints. It's possible he could be cut since they have no cap room, but since Peat is shit, he will probably stick around and he is still playing at a fairly high level for being 33.

Also, you're missing a big one: Sproles (now with Eagles, was a pro bowler last season).
>>
The biggest problem the Saints had was all the massive (and largely undeserved) contracts they handed out. Then they kept restructuring and restructuring and pushing money into the future years and eventually got into cap hell and couldn't afford their own FAs, let alone other people's.

What's hilarious about that is, just like the Jets at the same time, whenever you publicly said "the Saints will have cap problems soon", some ultra-defensive Saints fan would say "No our GM is a cap genius. We'll be fine, you're just jealous cause your GM sucks!"

Of course, Brees could have helped by taking a team friendlier deal, instead of talking up how he loves the saints and just wants to win...and then holding out until he was the top paid QB.
>>
>>74259368
the jets really arent in cap hell though, most of their deals are front loaded and we can get out of easily in the next 1-2 years.

He seems pretty confident that he can buy a ticket.

Good on him then.

God fucking damn it the Browns actually have a player that wants to play for them and now they're looking for a replacement?

Pryor would be playing as a WR like he played last year, Dopeway.
