Unlike heroin or Tombaco, when you gamble you have a chance of actually paying your bills and what not afterward.

If you had $100 for a phone bill, and turned it into $200 because you told someone that the Mexican would win, you are better off in your non degenerate parts of your life while simultaneously getting that degenerate fix.

It's more of a TV event, everyone is home for Chinese New Year at the minute so huge tv events across the board are pretty important this weekend since for many this is like the only genuine holiday they get all year.

It shouldn't be really but this is genuinely quite a big deal there, this is on the state sports channel.

Ancajas is slick as fuck
>>
Yeah dunno whether Ancajas just doesn't respect the power or whatever but there's no way he'd get away with this lack of head movement against Gonzalez or Inoue.
>>
>>73943339
Yeah the way he can find the angles and move his feet to set up a shot is impressive, but it's all based around aggression. Good to watch but dunno how he'd fare against the very best.
>>
>>73943340
>>73943352
I could see him beatinng Inoue but he doesn't seem to have any sting in his punches and would probably have trouble handling his power/aggression
>>
>>73943388
Yeah he lets himself get caught too much to handle Inoue. He'll probably win by KO here if he can keep up the intensity though, the volume of punches he's landing flush has to tell sooner or later.

ITV isn't cable/satellite tv with huge subscription fees, this is cheaper than almost any other boxing card you can watch in all of British television, and the undercard is pretty decent.
>>
>>73943450
Yeah just dobt expect either fight anytime soon
>>
Rodriguez got a bit more confidence back I think. Better fight now.
>>
>>73943507
>selling as a world title fight

Why not just put it on regular TV? Because the Eubanks want to bring the sales numbers to negotiations for future fights, and also say that Jr is a real world champion.
>>

>>

>>

>>

>>
>>73943580
All promoters do those things aside form claim the IBO is a world title.

>Why not just put it on regular TV?

A year's subscription to BoxNation is £144, a year's subscription to Sky Sports is around £800. To be able to compete with the pay packets that those networks can offer and not just incur a massive loss they pretty much have to make this PPV if they want the undercard to be a joke.

>>
>>73948507
I don't think 'European' is the correct term. Neither is 'globalist', but there does seem to be this kind of aspired default state that middle-class urban areas in Western Europe aspire to, where inherited culture just doesn't exist, with the idea that you can pick from a palette of other cultures instead, adding it to your own persona. There's no understanding of inheritance or collective, just opportunity and liberty to do so without judgement.

Loma has said he said would like to be a 3 division champion before his 10th fight. Though he might go back to 130 after becoming champ at 135.
>>
>>73951198
Valero was good, not nearly as much of a can crusher as people think, but bound for a steep, Juan Manuel Lopez kind of decline. I haven't seen much of Garcia, but if he could take Valero's punch he'd probably ruin him.
>>
>>73951490
valero was too agressive and his punches always came in too wide.
>>
>>73951272
maybe if he goes back down he can meet rigo at catchweight and we'd get a great boxing fight
>>
>>73951272
It would be pretty foolish of him to abandon such a hot division before cleaning it out, especially when his arms are already on the short side for a super feather and he barely makes 135 even fully hydrated on fight night. He honestly could've stayed at 126 lbs a little while longer in my opinion and tried to get fights with Valdez, Santa Cruz and Rigondeaux

Agreed. He probably would've gotten destroyed in his first top-level fight but he could bludgeon a lot of mid-tier guys.

>>
i want Wladimir Wladimirowitsch Klitschko to win does that make me a bad person?
>>
>>73962508
I'm split because I prefer Wlad as a person, but Joshua losing might be a blow to British boxing

We've already had DeGale and Frampton, arguably our two best boxers, fall short at the highest level this year and Brook seems like he's shit scared of Spence
>>
>>73962553
>Joshua losing might be a blow to British boxing

He'll instantly get a belt back since Wlad will retire and he'll either fight Pulev for the IBF or the Briggs/Oquendo winner for the WBA Super.
>>
>>73962508
I think Joshua winning is the best timeline for good fights being made. If he loses he'll have an excuse to fight bums for a couple of years to "rebuild" whereas if he wins he'll be under constant pressure to take big fights.
>>
>>73962567

His hype will be killed though if he loses at Wembley, he's built on being unstoppable and isn't beloved like a Frank Bruno
>>
>>73962597

it won't be that big of a deal, they'll put it down to inexperience and the Wilder/Fury fights are still there to be made
>>
>>73962588
Tyson Fury's first interview after Joshua losing to Klitschko would be classic though. Though of course it'd be even better if he took AJ's 0 himself
>>
>>73962597
It'd put a lot of pressure on him to take better fights although I don't know if Wilder will ever be willing to face him. Generally the biggest coasters are trying to protect their undefeated record.
>>
>>73962752
Showtime have beein showing all of AJ's fights since the title win and having Wilder commentate and it's the one Hearn has been talking about a lot. I'd be willing to bet a fair bit that'll be the next mega-fight Joshua is in. He'd certainly fight Wilder before Haye or Fury anyway.
>>
>>73962784
I can't see a Wilder fight being more lucrative than Haye or Fury fights
>>
>>73962784

Yeah Hearn said on iFLTV that Pulev would be a step backwards and he wants Wilder. Fury was calling out Wilder on twitter again the other day.
>>
>>73962804
Honestly no idea, there's obviously a lot more US tv money in the Wilder fight. Either way the main reason he'd prefer it is because it'd be easier.

>>73962813
Fury is under investigation by UKAD for PED use so who knows what'll happen there. Either way he won't be fighting till June when his initial ban runs out.
>>
>>73962784
Interesting, I don't get Showtime so that's news to me. Hope it happens but didn't Wilder make his silly FEE FI FUM FUM speech years ago? Joshua and Wilder are both protected fighters so it's hard for me to picture either guy taking any risks as long they can keep selling out their respective hometown arenas fighting journeymen.
>>
>>73962813

Pulev would make AJ look bad even if he wins and has zero name recognition with casuals, of course Hearn won't make that fight
>>
>>73962894

Pulev didn't want that fight before he wanted to fight in Sofia, I'm confident Joshua would beat him in 7 rounds regardless of what happens with Klitschko.
>>
>>73962870
>Joshua and Wilder are both protected fighters so it's hard for me to picture either guy taking any risks as long they can keep selling out their respective hometown arenas fighting journeymen.

People are fed up of Joshua fighting bums here actually, it's why they barely even acknowledged the Molina win and instantly announced Klitschko instead. Hearn is under a lot of pressure to deliver this year because of another major network getting into boxing here. If his competitor announces GGG vs BJS and Hughie vs Parker as is rumored Hearn is going to have to keep coming up big this year.
>>
>>73962910
Pulev didn't want the fight previously because he wanted to wait until he was mandatory and get better negotiating terms which is the position he's in now. Hearn has been talking about Joshua dropping the IBF belt if he wins since they don't want the Pulev fight though.
>>
>>73962870
>Not having showtime
>Not having HBO
Just get the stick negro
>>
>>73962923

Pulev was mandatory in November he would be on 70/30 split. They only don't want Pulev for commercial reasons if he gets past Klitschko which is a harder fight
>>
>>73962945
No he only became mandatory on December 10th once Parker beat Ruiz and was removed from the IBF rankings as a result, which was obviously the same day as the Molina fight so he couldn't have been mandatory for that one.
>>
>>73962923
Good deal. Wilder will continue to be overpaid on PBC for as long as it lasts, but if he has to move back to one of the cable networks he'll be forced to step up in competition. Generally you can't keep taking shit fights unless you're an established PPV draw.
>>
>>73962964

Oh yeah that's true but Hearn was offering it to him to get it out of the way for when Parker was removed and if he really wanted it he would have taken it because there's always the risk of him being overlooked for a money fight which is what will happen if Joshua drops the IBF. Joshua is more likely to end up fighting Ortiz as WBA mandatory than Pulev and I would say Ortiz is a harder fight

Dunno about that, he got pretty unlucky that the WBA was willing to sanction the Joshua vs Klitschko fight. If it was only for the IBF he was guaranteed a percentage of the huge PPV numbers Joshua does, which is likely to have been far more than what he was being offered at the time so I understand it.
>>

Hatton and calzaghe beat top 10 p4p boxers (kostya and bhop) at that time, hamed never beat anyone close to as good as that. Khan beat maidana, zab and (an old) Berrera who were better than anybody hamed beat, I would I unironically also rate his win over Malignaggi better than Hamed's best win.
>>
>>73971495
Kostya was in his last ever fight and B-Hop actually beat Calzaghe, so...

Hamed's top five: Vazquez, Johnson, Kelley, Medina and Bungu
Khan's: Maidana, Kotelnik, Peterson, Judah and Malignaggi
Haye's: Mormeck, Valuev, Chisora, Maccarinelli and Fragomeni
Hatton's: Tszyu, Malignaggi, Collazo, Urango and Castillo
Calzaghe's: Kessler, Eubank, Lacy, Bika and Jones Jr

There's really not much separating them, except Haye is clearly the weakest. You're just less familiar with Hamed's opponents because they were smaller and it was longer ago

it's also worth mentioning that Nicaragua is just twice smaller than Cuba, but didn't produce even a quarter of the goats Cuba produced (ams + pros wise). In pro boxing I think Nicaragua already edges Cuba and you dont even need per capita for that.

Ukraine has only been relevant in the past 20 years, and also has a pretty big population. The circa 2012 class seems like more of an anomaly than a trend

>In pro boxing I think Nicaragua already edges Cuba and you dont even need per capita for that.

Kid Chocolate, Kid Gavilan and Jose Napoles are greater than anything Nicaragua produced
>>
>>73972182
Calzaghe beat better opponents and beat them more impressively and didn't have to rely on crooked officiating or judging apart from arguably against Hopkins and Reid, which were probably too close to be counted as real robberies

He should have left Wales earlier though, for sure
>>
>>73972272
you can apply the same point to Northern Ireland and Wales, isn't it true? Because the trend doesn't even exist anymore except a few exceptions here and there like Calzaghe and Frampton?

Fair enough on Cuba being better in pro than Nicaragua.
>>
>>73972306
Calzaghe beat Bhop and Reid in their hometowns, can't call it "crooked officiating or judging"

the rise in Ukranian (and EE in general) boxing is the abandonment of the old Soviet school and adoption of a more pro style

Nah, I'd say Wales and Northern Ireland have consistently overperformed pretty much throughout the history of boxing. They're not big enough to have a world champion at any given time, but they've always got some on the fringes with the occasional elite talent breaking through

Jimmy Wilde, Jim Driscoll and Fred Welsh (Wales) and Jimmy McLarnin (Northern Ireland) are amongst the greatest boxers ever globally
>>

Hard to know whether it's Warren's fault or his †bh. Certainly the Eubanks are slightly to blame for his layoff since they pulled out last minute from rematch negotiations with him. He certainly needs to just get on with it at this point though.
>>
Based. Am willing to take back all of my Kell bashing if he takes this on. Certainly his career would have been a joke if he'd done anything else.
>>
>>73985131
Chances are Spence refuses the fight since it'll be in England and for 25% of a pretty small pot against a great fighter anyway. Kell refusing the Spence fight would have not only made a mockery of his career, but of Hearn and Matchroom too.
>>

I've always liked Crawford ever since he beat Burns in his hometown, even though his style isn't my usual cup of tea

With American boxing slightly in decline, American fighters need to get used to fighting on the road sometimes
>>
>>73985527
i'd make spence the favorite desu. What has brook really ever done, he beat Porter and looked good for a round or two against GGG
>>
Hearn has snapped up Joseph Cordina, along with Lawrence Okolie now. I guess he's still offering more money than Warren, who is left with scraps like Sam Maxwell, Sunny Edwards and Ekow Essuman
>>
>>73985866
Well he beat Porter better than Thurman did (less entertaining, but clearer)

Spence has huge holes in his defence that Brook will be able to exploit. It's just a question of whether he can keep it up for 12 rounds or if he'll wilt under the pressure

I hate this sort of argument, most boxers have padded records because you can't manage more than 5 really hard fights in your career normally. It's fair enough to criticise Kell Brook and say at 30 he should have a couple more legit fights under his belt but if you look at his attributes and how he fights it should be clear that he's in the top 5 regardless of who he's faced. Spence has also fought absolutely nobody but we can see he's a big talent. I'd give Brook a small edge but it will be a great fight if it happens.

>>
>>73986309
To be honest I genuinely don't even think it's bad value compared to a matchroom card. It's about half the price with more 50/50 fights than a Matchroom card has. Granted I think matchroom cards are shite value but I think everyone has looked at the main event and just believed every word from Hearn and Warren about how shitty it is because they hate the Eubanks.
>>
>>73986309

They wouldn't get more viewers without Eubank and David Price vs Christian Hammer on the undercard is only possible because it's PPV. I think it's good another channel has a platform for PPV fights, Eubank vs Golovkin or Eubabnk vs Groves isn't possible on normal ITV. It's as good as what matchroom do
>>
>>73986317
That was beforehand, the Briggs Haye ITV PPV idea was much later in the year now that Haye is fully committed to the WBO route.

To be honest Haye just generally whores himself around and calls people out to get the best deal possible, but from what I've heard negotiations with ITV for a Briggs fight were pretty deep before Hearn came in.
>>
BALBOA COMEBACK WHEN
>>
>>73986349

He might work with ITV again now he's partnered with ringstar. Haye only has 3 or 4 fights left in him so he isn't going to take much risk outside of Joshua
