Is this really what football looks like through the eyes of an American?
Aruglia and Ariaga II are better than both.
>no CL titles
The thing about soccer is that there's probably a few rule changes that could drastically improve the sport, yet it'll never happen because it's too wrapped up in it's own tradition to move forward. The first thing that comes to mind is the absolutely archaic methods of keeping time and the assignment of stoppage time.
>muh I can't pass it backwards
>muh I can't give two steps while holding the ball
Fuck off with your debilitating rules y'all have in murican sports. Football is a free flowing sport. Players can do whatever the fuck they want.
>Players can do whatever the fuck they want.
Is this why soccer players spend so much time working on their acting skills during games? I don't really understand why so many players want to be actors... it's like, they already make a lot of money anyway lol
And this is what the NFL looks like to the rest of the world
Rant time, fuckers:
The main reason that American sports are so different from European sports is that American culture is hugely different in terms of what they want to see.
European fans, for the most part, appreciate dominance and skill being rewarded absolutely, whereas American fans love parity and the chance of the underdog winning. In soccer, rugby, and cricket, the best matches will happen between teams at the same level with approximately equal skill levels.
That's why the top teams playing each other is seen as an event to be looked forward to, like El Classico or whatever it's called. Europeans want to see a clash of titanic powers.
Meanwhile, whenever there's a championship game between perennial powerhouses in America, only the supporters of those teams like it, while everyone else hates it. They'd rather see the upstarts, the little guys win it all.
Americans love parity. So American sports are designed so that any team can lose on any given night to any team, and leagues are designed that bad teams rarely stay bad for long, with things like high drafts for losers and established salary caps. In contrast, to appease the supporters who want winners to stay winners, European leagues keep the best in power as long as possible.
Neither one is wrong, it's just different, and neither side wants to watch the other one's version of sport.
>It's a difference in culture
No it's a difference in economy and marketing. US sports are run by leagues, having parity is good for the over all league attendance and brand. European sports are run by independent clubs, clubs only care about their own brand and winning, so there's less incentive for parity regulation.
>Americans love parity
that sounds dangerously close to communism lad
Americans are cucked by their leagues.
The leagues hold cities ransom for exorbitant, needless stadiums that are almost entire tax-payer funded... and then teams pack up and leave.
How fans could abide that, I don't know
People like you who don't give a shit about sports tradition can fuck right off. You're on of those types who thing netting should be put up in baseball ball parks to protect dumbass idiots who are too busy on their phone from getting their just desserts, a foul ball upside the head, when this ruin catching foul balls for fans, which has been a part of the sport for 150 years.
American leagues don't choose who wins, they just try to avoid the same ones winning over and over. They certainly can't stop good management from dominating. See:
Anyone who thinks America hasn't thrived by being a thinly-veiled socialist state is retarded
>"some guy 100+ years ago decided that this rule was a good idea, that means it'll ALWAYS be a good idea!"
A good rule is good whether it was made a century ago or a day ago. "Tradition" is an excuse faggots use when they fear change.
Nah this is how soccer is viewed here.
> what is social security
> what is unions
> what is income based taxation
> what is the federal reserve
> what is healthcare
> what is unemployment benefits
if you think the pathetic levels of social benefits the federal governement allows comes anywhere close to being good enough from a socialist's perspective you are truly delusional, if you want to see real actual socialism then come to Europe if you want to see some really fucked up shit
Not that guy but I didn't even know they existed until someone posted that video.I only know the Galaxy, Sounders, Fire. Plus you have to buy them beer for starting chants or some shit which is bizarre.
as an American I can tell you right now this is bullshit. Americans go for whatever fuck team they want, and whatever team is hot right now.
I know fags that are diehard Texans fans because they're from Texas, but hate Rockets and go for Lakers.
there's also the gloryhunters, like when Seahawks were good and won.
there is no such thing as loyalty here.
If loyalty didn't exist, the Browns, Bills, Cubs, Kings and every other constantly shitty team would be bankrupt. Bandwagoners exist because they wish they could be loyal. But I'd guarantee that all the Xehawks bandwagoners combined didn't enjoy SB48 as much as the five or ten actual Seahwaks fans in existence did. The bandwagoners probably laughed and cheered, but the loyal fans lost their fucking minds.
You can't truly enjoy a team's success until they've ripped your heart out and shat on it for years.
The guys in the first video thinking they're tough, how cute.
And then we have that guy who comes to Europe to experience the atmosphere DURING SUMMER, when there's only friendlies and shit.
America, I like you, but some times you're pretty retarded.
Britbros, dont listen to the Amerifats on this board talking about their views on soccer, their view only represents about 5% of our country. Also disregard any rule changes they propose that include stupid shit like no back passing, its just the dumb straight minded faggots who want to see more action rather than build up play. You can tell none of them have any experience playing soccer or competitive soccer at least. In the US, football is going to die down because of the amount of injuries that are happening and the next generation of soccer mom protecting their kids. I think it'll only be prevalent in the south at that point. Soccer is growing immensely in popularity and is pretty much one of the most popular sports. A lot of my friends watch soccer now, and many more play it.
Aside from that: there should definitely be reviewable plays that can impact the game. It only takes a few seconds for someone to watch a TV upstairs and determine if it was actually a pk or not then send a signal down to the center referee. I don't get why they're not using more technology with so much inconsistency happening in refereeing
Britbongs looking to get into American football should be fans of college football instead of the NFL.
Despite the NCAA being scumbags, it is far less corrupt than Jewdell
Each power conference might as well be it's own league
Regular season games matter a whole lot, which euros seem to care about
Actual tradition in teams with 100+ years of existence
Far more interesting approaches to offense, much faster paced and athletic
Parity to a lesser degree; you can't legally buy players (unless you're bama) but you can win over recruits with better facilities, coaches, etc.
Bluebloods almost always win the national championship (euros seem to REALLY like this)
As pure of fans as you'll find in American sports, none of this hipster MLS bullshit
Grade A shitposting
Fresh memes and copypastas
What's not to love?
No you don't actually.
Yes, its full name is rugby football.
> what is healthcare
Something you don't have.
those same soccer moms who wont let their kids play football because of injuries will butcher youth soccer in the name of physical and emotional safety more than it already is in this country
if little jimmy is gonna play a sport, its gonna be one that is 100% safe, and one that pads his self confidence
I've watched some college handegg games and for some fucking reason they have the only fans in all the Americans sports that actually behave like fucking fans like cheering, i once saw a little bit of primitive chanting and all of that shit
>tfw socialized medicine would be cheaper and more efficient than the system we have now
>tfw we'll never have it because the people who argue for it are just like soccer fans in that all they can say about it is 'EUROPE DOES IT' and everybody else hates their guts
Country is full of retards, what do you expect? The drowning middle class up in arms defending the massive conglomerates who fuck them in the ass every night, it's repulsive
>tfw I am marrying a Norwegian at and living there
These faggots can drown in their trump retardation
Soccer is entertaining to watch if you're also doing something else like fucking around on your phone. Otherwise, 90% of it is going to be watching back passes or the ball chilling around midfield or defensive half.
your mistake was trying to talk to adults when you don't understand the important role of state-level social benefits.
fuck off retard, obviously the US isn't as socialist as yurup, but it also attained "developed economy" status with way more income inequality and many yurupean states are now experiencing serious fiscal crises.
