Virtually never making the playoffs is bad, but the alternative definitely seems worse at the time.

I'd rather my team sneak into the playoffs as a good-to-mediocre team and just get crushed in the WC so I don't get my hopes up.

I'd rather a heart crushing loss. I'm a Steelers fan, and it looked for all the world they were going to lose that game. I was watching it with my grandma, and we were pretty crestfallen. But look at what happened after. It might be a rollercoaster, but you have to push all your chips on the table and try. You might be rewarded, you might not, but you at least feel something.

If my team is going to lose in the championship game: owl, eries, etc., then it sucks so bad that i wish they had never made it.

You will think about them losing in the championship everyday of your life for years to come unless they actually go back and win eventually.

I'd still glad we made the playoffs. I think our loss was the easiest of the weekend to deal with; unlike the Vikings and the Bengals there's nothing to call bullshit over, and unlike the Texans we actually managed to hold the lead twice and had some good moments. Plus that turnover in the end showed the team survived the loss with it's spirit intact, which bodes well for next year. Even if getting closer means the losses hurt more, I'll always want my team to get as far as possible.
