time for a drinking thread again
post your pic and your poison
I have some Christian Brothers brandy here, vile stuff but it's cheap and I hate myself enough to drink it
I like your hair, i use to have the same
1 am here, drinking a little so it will make me sleep
i'm really sensitive to alcohol, in that case it's really useful because i don't need to drink a lot to sleep
Drinking a mixed drink, watching AGDQ, car was totaled today, but on the bright side I got a check for about 1k over market value for it.
Now Drinking: Three Floyds' Gumballhead
Now Drinking: Schofferhofer
Slow night, I guess?
not gay, sorry
I had a couple friends over, we were too busy watching QI, getting drunk/stoned and ranting about stuff. then they left and I went to bed. I seem to have a harder time staying up these days
100% only bought this beer because of it being a cool bottle. Got some more shit beer for later too.
>tfw drinking brandy at 9am
I've done that before, some chink beer in a Buddha bottle which was utter swill
can't see the label so well though, what kind of beer is it?
fuck I am such a loser piece of shit
why can't my stomach or liver fail already so I can get the awful painful humiliating death I deserve? just want to die covered in shit and choking on my own bloody vomit
Not drinking yet but Gonna be flying high on a cocktail later
>nitrous for that psychedelic edge
Doubt its toxic enough to kill
Had some of this, nice after yard work.
>they will never ship to California
A-At least Founders finally made it down here in an already oversaturated IPA/APA market.
Three Floyd's is a small-ish brewery out in the midwest is the main reason. They mostly do midwest/east coast shipping as far as I know. Also because there's already a lot of breweries down here so the market is competitive, which is a damn shame because they make something called Zombie Dust which is pretty darn tasty.
It's more for the taste really with the plus of being able to have one or two with a meal without getting plastered. Want something really tasty that can knock you on your ass? Try Old Rasputin. They sell it in semi-cheap 4 packs.
Almost forgot to mention. If anyone (in the Inland Empire area) wants to meet up for a pint tomorrow, I'll be at Hangar 24. They're releasing a new beer tomorrow and most of their stuff is really good.
Drinking that free leftover New Years gin. Gotta love free liquor no matter how cheap or shitty
What happened to your sweet poster, OP?
Do you trade at all? Also, a decent portion of Founders that's good is non-IPA related. Imperial Stout, Breakfast Stout, Dirty Bastard, Backwoods Bastard, etc.
That Blood Orange Gose is quite tasty.
Yeah, I believe right now, they distribute to Indiana and its surrounding states. Maybe it's because I've had so many times, but Zombie Dust is decent for sure. However, there are many similar beers out there that are better, cheaper, and more available.
Now Drinking: Pelican's Mother of All Storms 2014
Pretty dang delicious.
Ah, man. No, I haven't found that at ANY of my stores out here. I've looked tho, trust me. I was hyped for them to release six packs of VaS this year.
Yeah, they got bought out for like 2 billion dollars so I'm assuming distribution will be everywhere soon. Maybe not for bombers since that seems like a local thing.
I don't 'drink' but I thought I would post anyways because I am enjoying a lovely cup of tea in my favourite mug.
you can't see it but i'm home from college and drinking wine from shabbat (thx parents for unknowingly enabling me)
Yeah, that hasn't come out yet aside from locally to Cali asfaik. I live in TX. Grapefruit is amazing..Defines my fridge, man.
what type of tea? jealous of the mug tho, i collect animal/bug glass/mugs. No narwhal yet
>drinking wine from shabbat
But, that aint even proper glassware. What's the deal???
Ah, you live in TX? Nice. You live near Lone Star Taps & Caps? I'd love to have place that filled growlers of other breweries beers (that are also from out of state). Here in Indiana, it's illegal for some to fill growlers of some other brewery's beers. Such a shame....
Plus, you've got Jester King, Lone Pint, etc. Some stuff there in your state.
Drinking it straight?
Blacked out and started ranting about Pokemon the last time I drank Kraken
Cheers to a prosperous life.
yeah, that's a shame. i haven't been to that place, i oughta check it out. my local grocer does a lot of growlers so i dont look too far. i live close tho.
Have you ever had anything by Jester King?
Their stuff breaks the mold. Definitely not marketable on a six pack basis, but holy shit, each one is special.
An entire fifth in one night?
As long as they're fine with it, no need to be sneaky then. Right?
Yeah, I've had quite a few things from Jester King. However, a lot of their better stuff seems to be too high in trade value to get a hold of. :/
I'm 18 and she said "i can't have any alcohol out in this house, can I?"
sucks for her having a mentally unstable 18 year old and a self-centered stereotypical 16 year old in her domicile :^)
Well, that's not too bad. If that's all she said and then went to go watch tv, sounds like she didn't mind too much at all. Just do it in moderation, don't become a drunk mess, and you'll be good.
Now Drinking: Burn 'Em's Wrath of Pele (Brown Ale w/ coconut)
Not too bad.
for sure, i don't live in Austin, but their good stuff is so uncommon since they have a lot of limited releases. people horde it religiously
this is why we gtfo of student housing into an apartment with older friends a year later. freshman year sux. am 22, almost out, but 18-20 is the worst if in dorms.
I can't live in an apartment until my junior year, shoot me. I need to develop my Hemingway alcoholic poet sense NOW, not later
i just have problems that alcohol helps fix
for example being that one crazy bitch that bakes/cooks constantly for other people and won't eat any of it.
i have to be drunk to eat like a normal person but whatever, i'm well-adjusted to college life and i'm a cheap date
>tfw emaciated holocaust mode lightweight male
>pour 2 shots of skyy vodka into a glass and fill the rest with coca cola
>feel slightly buzzed
my tolerance is so fucked. sometimes if i go a number of weeks without drinking (i only drink alone because no friends), ill literally feel a good buzz off of 2 shots. but if i just drank the last week, 2 shots worth might only give me a slight buzz like it does now
and if i get a decent buzz i basically have to crush water or else ill get hungover
I wouldn't call you crazy for cooking meals on occasions for other people that you wouldn't also eat at that time. Though, there is difference between having a couple of glasses of wine in order to eat and being a complete drunken mess where you've lost all motor skills just to eat something.
Now Drinking: Alpine's Nelson
Pretty decent right now, but I would like to see how this is fresh (says it's best by March, so I assume this is at least 1-2 months old).
Now Drinking: Alpine's Duet
Tasting pretty goooood. Fresher than the Nelson, for sure. Anyhow, looks like things have died down here and will probably be the same till the thread goes kaput.
I WISH I had the stomach for alcohol. The taste alone puts me off and I've never liked the taste of beer, despite my efforts to like it.
I can't blame my being a lightweight due to my size because plenty of small girls can handle alcohol but I turn into a sobbing mess after a few double shots of tequila (the only alcohol I can take). I much prefer the reefer as my method of intoxication.
Cheers everyone <3
>I've never liked the taste of beer
There are over 80-90 styles of beer. What kind of beers have you had? I can recommend some beers for you try if you want.
Beer is so diverse, there's practically something for everyone.
When I say beer I mean typical things like Shiner, Corona, Blue Moon, anything Bud, anything Miller. Stuff like that
I can stomach a bit of Guiness sometimes.
I just find the beers that I've tried to be too bitter and bland but I'm also not into sugary things so I'm sort of stuck.
Suggestions would be awesome!
Those are some shitty beers. What state do you live in? Not asking for hookup or whatever. Asking because each state has tons of breweries that distribute there, but many are different (for example, there are tons of breweries available in California, but some not in my state, which is Indiana).
Also, what kind of styles (if any) have you somewhat liked?
Alright then, bare with me. I'm going to list off some beers you might like based off the fact that you like Guiness:
(Brewery - name of beer)
-Founders - Breakfast Stout (Imperial Stout)
-North Coast - Old Rasputin (Russian Imperial Stout)
-Prairie - Bomb! (Imperial Stout with coffee, cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, and peppers)
-Ballast Point - Victory At Sea (Imperial Porter w/ coffee and vanilla beans)
-Samuel Smith - Organic Chocolate Stout
-Oskar Blues - Ten FIDY (Russian Imperial Stout)
-Epic - Big Bad Baptist (BA Imperial Stout)
-Evil Twin - Imperial Biscotti Break (Imperial Stout w/ coffee)
There are so many I could recommend, but it really depends on your preference and would better to talk in person (I say this as I work at a liquor store and I can't tell you how many times I've helped people with beers they ended up liking without even knowing how to describe what they already enjoy). I'll list some others out that you *might* like. Granted, if you find any IPA that''s older than 2-3 months, do NOT buy it.
-Lindemans' Framboise (*back-sweetend* Lambic, emphasis on the *)
-Boulevard's The Calling (Imperial IPA)
-Ommegang's Hennepin (Belgian-style Saison)
-Victory - Dirt Wolf (Imperial IPA)
-Ballast Point - Grapefruit Sculpin (IPA w/ grapefruit)
-Deschutes - Fresh Squeezed IPA (IPA)
-Dogfish Head's 60/90 Minute
Now Drinking: Stillwater's Stoufft ("Imperial Chocolate Truffle Stout")
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Like a big, milk chocolate covered marshmallow. mmmmmmm
Cute jew girls are my thing
Grats, well done
There's a windstorm and I'm high as fuck
drinking this now, my friend gifted it to me
does your family also do a roast chicken on Shabbat? mine does, usually my mum or I cook it, along with some rice, salad, and of course the challah. always delicious, and it's even better for lunch the next day
Welcome back Drunk Jesus!
Time for a Guinness.
well...not really right now, the pic was taken a few hours ago. Drinking beer with some college friends, I'm the guy with black t-shirt next to the dude with a john lenon's shirt
Miniature haul today. The ones in the back are Sam Smith's Imperial Stout and Taddy Porter.
I do! Mostly on BA though I have a relative out East who I trade with once in a while but now that Founder's is down here I figure I could just wait until Backwoods Bastard and their stouts become available next year/time. It just seems odd that they decided to mostly ship out their IPA/APA stuff down here first when there's already a bunch of larger breweries doing god-tier stuff. Still slightly salty that NorCal got their better stuff like KBS and Backwoods distributed immediately.
I agree with a lot of similar beers out here that are just-as-good/better than Zombie Dust. I just want to try it eventually. There's a (recently bought out) brewery down here called Saint Archer that makes one of the best double IPAs I've ever tasted. It's called Mosaic IPA and it's a staple in muh fridge. Their pale ale and standard IPAs are damn good too.
Oh baby, that is one damn good beer. Based BP doing 6 packs of it now.
It's okay, the peppermint is definitely a little overpowering. It's good for maybe a pint but I couldn't imagine myself drinking more than that or a 6 pack of it.
Don't forget Saint Arnold! Dat dere Pumpkinator!
I get like that too and I'm six foot 203 lbs. After two high-ish ABV beers and I feel buzzed. I kind of prefer it though to be honest. If I would ever feel like getting plastered, I know I would be cheap. Then again I'm one of those faggots who drinks for the taste, so disregard my opinion.
Oh baby, that one is good too!
Bretty good too, just cracked mine open for late-lunch.
Saint Arnold is Texas only at the moment but their beer game is solid. They make good IPA/Double IPAs and their sour berlinerweisse beer is mouth puckeringly refreshing. Their normal macro-ish beer is called Fancy Lawnmower and it's pretty tasty too.
Woo lad, this is good. Very floral, almost perfume like while remaining citrusy. I'd buy this a lot more often if it was cheaper.
I'm always down for a trade if you want anything from/distributed to Indiana.
I've of Saint Archer (as well as the buyout, which I guess wasn't a surprise?), but never had anything from them.
How much is a 12 oz. bottle? Alpine just arrived in Indy with their bottles and a 22 oz. was like $8.
Sup drunk friends
I'm finishing a beer, then opening the vodka
Currently listening to The Crashtones, what are you guys jamming?
Not too much, man. I'm drinking water considering I've been sick most of the day and I'm pretty sure it wouldnt be wise to drink anything tonight. ha
Mrs on the left, mine on the right. This oatmeal stout is really good, definitely good for someone who likes Guiness a lot and wants to try something new!
Topping Goliath is close right? Just kidding. Most of the stuff I'd like to trade for is rare-ish and I don't feel like being a burden. I do want to try Daisy Cutter or Flower Power if they're in your area. Would be more than happy to trade if you wanted some really good local stuff or the Saint Archer stuff! Though since Saint Archer was bought by the Coors company, I feel like their stuff is going to be massively available soon-ish. The 12 oz was $2.99 I think, the sixer was $12.99 Definitely worth it IMO.
Got my hands on apple Ciroc. Apple Ciroc and ginger ale is great.
Oh shit, I live really close to Oscar Blues.
What do you consider rare-ish? I trade quite a bit (well, not too much lately due to the holidays and such). I could definitely hook you up with Daisy Cutter/other Chicago beers (Pipeworks, more Half Acre, Revolution, etc.). That sounds good.
$12.99 isn't too bad for a 6pk, as most are between $10-13. Though, that Pure Hoppiness is $18.99/6pk here.
I bet you made like a bandit with all the BA Ten FIDY and the like.
Nice! I love their stuff, Ten-Fidy is great.
Rare-ish is like some of the Noble Ale Works Citra/Mosaic Showers stuff, most of Bottle Logic's stuff. Nothing like the Bruery's or Russian River stuff since everyone and their mother goes for that now, and the aforementioned breweries make amazing beer but they only ship within their own county now. That and not a lot of people clamor for it like PtE or Black Tuesday.
Oof, Pure Hoppiness was like $16 here.
I don't believe I've ever had Noble Ale's stuff, though I've had B.L.'s Passionate Dragon which I thought was aight. A lot of the Bruery and Russian River stuff is quite 'overrated' in some ways. Although, Chocolate Rain is soooooooo damn good!
I've got things like Upland sours, Dark Lord, New Day's Breakfast Magpie (Black Raspberry mead w/ coffee), 18th St, and tons others
he got crucified though, whereas I will probably die of intestinal cancer or something in a few years
Now Drinking: Toolbox's The Carlton (American Wild w/ Blackberries)
had a couple of those and have broken them into pieces in the trash. prettttttty good
also had "dawn of the dank" somethin froma local brewery called "Cobra Brewing" I think
It's the captain for me tonight lads.
How the devil are you lot?
Now Drinking: New Oberpfalz' Russian Imperial Stout w/ coffee and cocoa nibs
New beer I've never seen before from an Indiana brewery I've never heard of before. Overall, it's ok-ish, but definitely not worth the $14-15 price tag.
Don't toast me you berk, just drink it! Drink the beer? Let me watch you press you lips to the glass, slide your tongue instinctively to the rim as you let the bitter black liquid climb its way onto that bridge between the cold glass and your warm stomach.
Good ol' Angry Orchard...i shouldn't cause i got work in the morning but FUCK IT
Now Drinking: Four Fathers' Wheelhouse '15 (Imperial Stout w/ coffee)
This one was an improvement over the last one. Decent body, bit of milk chocolate, and a good amount of coffee.
I had to bail on work new years day because I didn't even stop drinking until 9am
My shift started at 4
That wasn't going to happen
luckily I faked food poisoning the night before to leave work early
Word. Do you drink much bourbon? If so (or even just every now and then), pick up a shot or half pint of Woodford Reserve and drink it neat. It's some good stuff.
Is that Alexander Keith's IPA? Never had it myself, but never heard of just 'keith ipa'. Also, cucumbers plus ice cream sandwich doesn't sound like it'd be a good mix in the stomach.
Drinking Sailor Jerry's mixed with pure lemon, seltzer, limeaid, squirt, and aromatics.
Am I too late? I took this last week I think. I'm not drinking atm
$119 for two 24pks?
Shit happens from time to time. At least it wasn't a glass. Just a couple days ago, I washing some of mine and accidentally dropped my Side Project balloon glass. The top portion broke off and is fortunately still usable.
That's an odd mix.
Based off the label, looks like....Lone Star?
This is really good stuff. Even better super fresh. Kitty is being less shy, hooray for positive reinforcement.
Noice, Toolbox makes good stuff.
Bretty gud, went condo hunting today. Finally making the big move from renting to buying.
I might give Hoppy Birthday another try if I find it fresh. Didn't find it anything near impressive. Do you know much about their 'best by' date, as in how far out it is from when it was bottled?
I've had a small handful of Toolbox stuff (thanks to one person on BA for Upland sours). Have you had Handful of Peter before? I'm curious how that one is going to turn out.
Honestly, I don't how I knew that as I live in Indiana and have never had Lone Star before. hahaha It's all good. Nice to have some cheapish beer here and there. For me, my go-to cheapish beer would be Pilsner Urquell.
This is really good too. Roasty, bitter chocolatey, just all around tasty. Only complaint is that it's a bit thin but nothing off putting.
Talked to the guy at my bottle shop, their distributor said they were bottled less than a week ago. The Best By date on mine was June 26, 2016 or something close to that!
I've only had their Purple Drink, reminded me of those Kool-Aid clear juice bottles from when I was a kid. It was pleasant! Have not had that one unfortunately... :/
Sam. Smith makes some quality stuff. The Org. Chocolate Stout is delicious!
Hm...seems like they go 5 and 1/2 months out based off that. I'll keep that in mind then. Thanks for the info!
I had the Purple Drink from the bottle and thought it was just decent-ish. I have a feeling it's something that'd be better on tap than from the bottle.
Now Drinking: Grimm's Purple Prose (American Wild w/ black currants and raspberries)
This is certainly a change in pace compared to what I've had before. Not too shabby.
Here ya go, >>23134656
Now Drinking: Burn 'Em's Wrath of Pele (Brown Ale w/ coconut)
Now Drinking: TwoDeep's Lake IPA
Meh, it's pretty bland and somewhat of a mess. Doesn't surprise considering I've heard that their beers are nothing special. However, I will give them the benefit of the doubt since they just started canning their beers.
Hopefully this thread is kept alive until tomorrow night as that TwoDeep will probably be the last before going to bed.
I have this song stuck in my head
I usually look like shit
Now Drinking: Founders' Harvest Ale
Still doing ok for being 3 and 1/2 months old.
I'm drunk on my tears because hahahahaha if I had one I'd have them all, all day everyday.
I take you're trying to stay sober?
I've got a good amount of stuff (mostly beer, some bourbon, little of scotch), though I don't drink too heavily. At most, I may drink like a handful of beers. But, for the bourbon and scotch, I only break those out every now and then.
In the same boat here, id rather be sober but i also like alcohol. Hey at least im not doing heroin. And its a close call but id say your a little bit cuter than the cat
Ah, no need to drink yourself into a deep sleep. He didn't say he liked your cat more than you. With the way soc is, if he had said, "more pics of you plz", it'd be a bit 'creepy' so he went the cat instead. Know what I'm saying?
Now Drinking: Three Floyds' Gumballhead
Eh, it's something.
have a pic of a BART train I took this morning
Now Drinking: Stone's Xocoveza Charred (3 month version)
Compared to the first batch (released back in July that was aged for 7 months in bourbon barrels), this is noticeably weaker. The body isn't as well-rounded, the peppers & cinnamon are more upfront, there isn't nearly as much of a milk chocolate or vanilla presence, and just an overall disappointment. I really don't know why Stone thought it was a good idea to release this after being aged for only 3 months as that's pretty much a waste of a good bourbon barrel.
>mobile keeps changing my ID
H-Heh. My cat SUCKS, ha. I make myself laugh. Glad they've been doing 6 packs as opposed to the 32 oz thing they had before. It was kind of a hassle to use a rubber bottle stopper.
Agreed, the Mrs loves the chocolate stout and their oatmeal stout. My Purple Drink was from the bottle, made me feel all nostalgic!
It's okay. More pictures of your cat though.
I ran more than enough this morning and I went to the gym today. I'm going to follow the words of a wise man and drink another Sucks.
That's huge on /o/ right? I'm surprised Hiro hasn't added a /train/ board. Pretty sure 2ch has one.
It was a deal compared to other bomber type bottles for sure but $10 for 6 12 oz of great beer is a deal too! (Even though Torpedo is like $6.50 a sixer and it's just as good.)
>take a few 32s of Sucks to a party for me and a friend back in college
>everyone thinks we're drinking some off brand malt liquor
Califonia prices. I imagine it's because they're in the state and booze is cheaper in general. Even cheaper if you have a Costco membership, they're really stepping up with the bigger craft stuff. Ballast Point stuff is still kind of expensive here though ($14 for a sixer of any Sculpin variant), even though one of their brewpubs is about 30 minutes from me.
I can see that for the Torpedo. Though, since Lagunitas popped up a place in Chicago, you'd think it'd be cheaper here in Indiana like it is there in CA.
>Even cheaper if you have a Costco membership
I don't know if it's the same there in CA, but at least here in IN, you don't need a membership in order to buy alcohol there. I've never been to one before, but perhaps I should stop by soon just to see how prices are there.
Now Drinking: Founders' Backwoods Bastard '12/'13 (can't remember which one this is)
For being two or three years old, it's held up quite nicely.
Killed this one, on to the next.
>it's my only day off.
That's so much more than what I did the past three days, which I had off. Did absolutely nothing and now I feel terrible considering I have to work the next 6 days straight.
Compared to me, you deserve to treat yourself with a bottle of Dom Perignon. hahaha
I don't really drink, but I wanted to pop in and say that I think that you could be a beautiful man if you lost the weight, dude.
Would cast as a Scottish warrior in Braveheart 2/10
