And most of the food people toss out isn't actually 'food'. From a T-bone steak, you might only get about 50% of actual decent meat. The other 50% consists of bone and grizzle. This waste gets counted by you as 'food'.

Another 'food' that counts as waste is spoiled fruit and vegetables. Now I know what you're going to say - they should have ate it *before* it had spoilt! - but often such food is spoilt already by the time is purchased. For instance, one might purchase a nice yellow looking mango, only to open it up two days later to find clumps of rot inside.

It would be nice if people did not waste food unnecessarily, but distributing wealth evenly will not change that attitude. In fact, if it's true going by your words that everyone will enjoy a carefree life after this wealth distribution, wouldn't they be even less incentivized than they are now to conserve food?

Food supply currently matches demand. The balance between supply and demand is the price you pay. Fillet steak costs US$35/kg where I live, which is a steep price, even for a first worlder. I wouldn't be able to afford it every night. Regional pricing reflects local supply and demand. After all, it costs money to ship food from one side of the world to the other.
