But you weren't in a "death state". There is no death state. You just don't exist.
You assume existence in a state of non-existence. Maybe you just can't grasp the concept.

This is just wrong. Life is placed in an interval which is (time of birth, time of death). Before life is the interval )negative infinity, birth) and after life comes (death, infinity(. Time is not stopped by your birth or death, it merely becomes perceivable to the human consciousness, which is made of matter and energy and can be transformed into other things, such as heat or whatever the fuck.

you can have equations that are finite in one directions and infinite in the other along an axis.

it's also not a proof to say that we would't exist if death was infinite. you haven't defined what "exist" even means, but considering that you actually meaning living as the individual human bean that you are, and we don't have any evidence of humans being "pulled out of death" once in a while to continue life, then we can't argue that shit.

your taking leaps of faith on some cosmic force attaching consciousness to body. but all the important parts of consciousness we can identify already in the body, and the likelihood of your exact same genes and brain structure throughout a life more than once are meaningless in a species that's less than 300k years old

For once, you're making implications that aren't valid. It is false to say that life "-existence -" would prosper again just because. The problem here is that you're starting up from the premise that life IS a cycle and that is bullshit and you're fucking retarded.

"death" is not a state but a singular event of true undeniable divinity.
There is no reason to look beyond this decisive moment, because both death as idea is incomprehensible, it's immense, infinitely so. God may well be dead, but more importantly God is Death. What is truly defining God as an idea is that He is immense beyond comprehension and an entity worthy of dread even if you do firmly deny His existence.
>>
>>35638818
You seem a little upset. Do you want a juicebox?

We end up in the same conditions as the second before we became conscious after death, and no time passes when you don't exist, so life is all there is. What's not to understand?
>>
>>35637312
Just throwing this out there. Just a theory.

In the equation y=1/x, as x approaches infinity it nears 0. It never quite reaches 0 or goes below 0. It is not possible for it to do so.

In the same way it could be a physical impossibility that you will ever live again despite the infinite time periods. The observable universe will undergo the "big rip" and that is it.

This is another level of deny of death. The ego is an illusion and sentience isn't restricted to you, all mammals, birds, reptiles and some species of fish are sentient. The flow of experience is simply a product of the computation of the brain. Nothing magical about that and no brain = no flow of experience (sentience).

If we end up with more than non-existence after death of the physical body, then we're not dead. If there's no such thing as non-existence, then we've always been alive.

>the world stops existing when I'm sleeping
>>
Hang on for a moment and consider this.

There is no such thing as you knowing you did not exist before you were born, in the same way that there is no such thing as there being an undertandable state of non-existence before the moment of your birth.
You were "assigned" to a specific body the moment it initiated existence and you came to be able to control that body after you were put out into the world from the womb (unable to grasp what there was before).

There is no such thing as a state of nothingness we understand, as when there is "nothing" going on we stop perceiving things (hence the fact that we can not tell what happened before, after we wake up from a dreamless sleep). There was a state of existence followed by a sleep we did not acknowledge while it was going on, followed by a return to reality once we awakened.

Can we not apply the same logic to life and death and say that, because there is no way for a literal nothingness to exist, and because we can't NOT be, there is bound to be some sort of reincarnation?

So does that mean that computers are sentient as well? Where do you draw the line between a sentient blob of matter and a non-sentient one? You argue that ego is an illusion but really from the perspective of any sentient creature its ego is the only thing that's absolutely certain. I think therefore I am etc.

OP basically says that
>you are born
>you can't understand time when you sleep (or are dead) =>
>there can't be an actual state of death if you can't perceive what it would mean to be dead (in the same way that you can't figure out what it's like when you sleep / what it was like before you were born)

Yes. Not only computers, all things that process information even a thermos and even crazier every "level" of organization in your brain, trillions of different sentient being in your head.

How does that work though? What makes you you? Why do you function based on that particular mind and why are you in charge of that particular body if you being you isn't somehow predetermined?

Do you think that if such a thing is plausible then we could've lived through countless existences we just can't remember? What if this is our first existence and we'll be able to recall our former lives if our conciousness somehow carries over?
>>
>>35639477
>nothing will ever happen again

fucking end yourself, kid
>>
>>35639397
>why are you in charge of that particular body
Again, you keep thinking that you are a mind in control of a body, when the reality is that we are full beings and the process of thought that happens in the brain is just another natural process of the way we function as a species, just like our stomach digests food, our brain thinks.
>>
>>35639641
Are you then also implying that thoughts are fully deterministic and free will does not exist?
>>
>>35640281
I suppose you are trying to imply that without the mind being extra dimensional, all thought ought to be deterministic as it is just the result of a prysical process, but that doesn't mean that at all. Would you say whether you get or not an stomach ache because you ate bad food is bound to be deterministic? of course not, so the reason why the process of thought gets a special place of consideration before the idea of determinism is because you keep thinking it's somehow separate from the body, when actually asking if thoughts are deterministic is as relevant as asking if an itch is deterministic.

Not the guy you are replying to, so I don't 100% agree with the infinite consciousness stuff however...

Before you were born you were in a 'dead' state essentially, you didn't exist. When you die, you re-enter that state you were in before you were born.
From the non-existent state you began to exist. I don't see why once you enter that state again, the same thing couldn't happen.

>just as matter can't be destroyed,..., such is the same with consciousness.

Consciousness IS matter, though. Just because we have perception of the matter around us doesn't mean we have some ultra-physical place in the world; we are just matter in a more complex arrangement, arbitrarily acting and perceiving based on how that matter is transformed, with enough arbitrary checks and balances in place that we don't move completely randomly. To ASSUME otherwise with no proof of concept is to abandon any "scientific" foothold you had. "We" as in the perceived self simply did not exist before we were born, so we were not "pulled out of this death-state". When we die, "we" again do not exist. Time does not perish with us, as it is not purely perceived. Time and matter are inseparably linked, and needn't be seen to exist; all currently accepted and proven physics respect this.

To say that the world exists exclusively as we are here to perceive it is beyond self-centered. We are not the center, purpose, or beginning of all existence. There was so much before us, and there will be so much after us.

No, there's no hard physics to back this claim, the most that has been claimed circa 2015 is that consciousness is made up of an atom called "perceptronium" therefore rendering it "matter". This doesn't explain anything and uses circular reasoning to justify its claims."Consciousness decodes patterns of matter.
