You're right, and that's an interesting problem the show has; obviously Walt was going to fuck up and lose it all at one point or another, and drive Skylar/everyone away etc, so you need to build that up, except a) everyone KNOWS that's the endgame (her breakdown in the pool after seeing Walt lie through his teeth was amazing though and almost makes up for the slow character development/pacing) and b) it gets in the way of a fucking high school teacher cooking meth and getting into organized crime, which is what the large part of the audience are watching the show for I'd wager.

So yeah, if you binge watch the show then Skylar becomes this annoying baggage you have to sit through to get to the meat of the show, S4 onwards, when the show moves into endgame she starts to redeem herself when she openly despises Walt.
