I was playing earlier. Slammed through Yahar'gul and the Nightmare Frontier and then farmed Rom for a bit for kicks on co-op. I like the fast combat and emphasis on aggression and offense versus traditional Souls combat.

Not really. Souls type games are all cyrptic storyline wise on purpose, the creator wants you to fill in using your own imagination. Dark Souls is fun because the whole world is a beautiful maze that is interconnected. Just enjoy exploring, piecing the lore together (mostly done by items you pick up ranging from weapons to consumables), and the fun combat. The difficulty isn't really that bad, people blow it out of proportion and meme the game as "dark souls hard". You are never given anything you can't handle.

Ah if you missed Eileen's quest and she attacked you, you missed one of the best subquests of the game. Fighting the chikage-wielding hunter who half killed her in the Grand Cathedral is a beast of a fight. Plus Henryk before that in the Tomb.

BB's eldritch shit is really cool, especially in the DLC with the Innsmouth-like village.

Games are like music in my experience. It's too broad to say nothing holds your attention. That means you have to go looking, which can be a lot of work that most people dont want to do so they accept games and music as they're delivered to them by mainstream at face value, ultimately deciding they don't like games (or music) now/anymore.

If I'd never found what I listen to now, I'd say I don't like music that much. And if there was never a CRPG renaissance in 2012/13, I'd probably say I don't like games that much anymore either, even though CRPGs aren't exclusively what I play but were integral in changing my perceptions of how a game can be (looks boring to the observer but for some reason is mad fun to play), liberating me from my false preconceptions of yore (only multiplayer games are worth playing, anything else is a waste of time!).

Perhaps this will make you explore your horizons, perhaps you never actually liked games at heart. Just some food for thought. No hobby is ever "easy" once you dip your head below the surface and see how deep the well really goes.

As it stands, WoW now feels to me to be the cheap imitation of what a game is. I, in the not so distant past, used to also think the inversion of this.

I feel you brethren, but the alternative way of spending my leisure would be watching TV which literally puts me to sleep. At this stage I've become somewhat dependent on vidya for constant mental stimulation. To see an interact with a thing is much busier than being passively fed fast food entertainment. I suppose it's all about perspective and one must understand that any purely leisure pursuit is inherently a waste of time. I just so happen to like keeping myself engaged in something, and vidya is very engaging for me. Even if the game is simple, it still demands attention and engagement.

I hope you can find something to fill your void. I'd feel pretty busted if I couldn't enjoy games anymore. Of course reading is not a bad use of one's time, but after a day of work, reading, again, is just one of those things that puts me right to sleep.

Spent all day yesterday playing Bloodborne.

Leveled up my character and finally beat that annoying ass spider in Moon Lake. That was easily the most difficult boss I faced in that game.

The weapon I'm currently maining is the Kirkhammer. Fucking love it. Just got the Tonitrus and the Reiterpallasch. Gonna level those up and main one of them when they're strong enough.

Game gets a bit annoying at times, but it's addicting as fuck.

I was doing trivial shit on PC DaS1 since I already platted it on PS3. Couldn't get any nodes to invade Anor Londo so I just went and grabbed covenant achievements and fully upgraded a Great Club to Occult +5 to get the last weapon upgrade achievement.

It isn't even fun, it's just something to do (again) as a distraction. All Souls games PvE are stale as fuck at this point, but DaS1 doesn't involve farming a ton of cracked red eye orbs like DaS2. Just wish its connectivity and overall player activity was closer to its peak. Shit's dead and DaS2 farming CREOs then spending them all just to refarm is shitty.
