What does /r9k/ think about comics?
I like Spiderman a lot.
I love Hellboy and related comics. I collect them and other Hellboy stuff.
Too much colour (by that, I don't mean saturation. I mean that there are too many different colours). Too many words per panel. Everything clashes. Just my opinion. I did like that Dahmer comic, though.

comics have made some great characters. what i don't care for is repeated rehashing of stories that water down the source material and the lack of consequences (no one is ever really dead, all alternate stories are official in reboots, etc). It's kind of annoying to see after that, how people will argue over comics. It's a flawed thing because of the constant redos and reboots, why get worked up over it?
I prefer one shots or things only told once. Manga has that advantage. Stories are told, and that's just how they are. There isn't going to be a Naruto reboot where Naruto and Sasuke never become enemies or some shit, or a Bleach reboot where Ichigo's sister has the main powers, or a Kenshin reboot where Shishio is the main character and the good guy this time. Let people daydream about alternate scenarios, don't water down the source material by making them legit.

you should read stuff not written by DC and Marvel then familia

>grew up reading Batman, Watchmen, Maus, absolutely adoring comic books
>worked at a comic book store as a young adult, followed 30+ titles a week, tried to read as much as I could
>fell in love with new series as they came out, sure there was lots of edgy bullshit and bad art but the gems that were produced were fucking amazing
>around 2011 or 2012, shit starts to go downhill
>everyone is getting influenced by tumblr bullshit
>my favorite characters are suddenly changing their personalities, genders, plots are going off in completely random directions
>superhero films are at their peak, all of Marvel turns to fucking trash, DC is irreparable
>Batman has over 15 ongoing titles and all of them are shit
>Marvel has a new event every month
>Dark Horse loses Star Wars
>indie books are so afraid to stray from SJW's law that they drop enormous amounts of offensive titles or restrain ongoing ones to the point that they're unreadable
>watch as my pull list drops to one to two titles a month
>lose all interest in the hobby
>cry myself to sleep over losing something that brought me so much entertainment and pleasure
Please don't misinterpret this as me only reading capeshit, I'm a massive fan of Dark Horse, Avatar Press, Image, Dynamite, Fantographics, Boom!, IDW, Gold Key, and a bunch of others.
fuck comic books OP

I think titles like 100 Bullets could get published, would be recognized as amazing by a VERY small and select group of people that read everything and give everything a chance, and it would drop off the radar for everyone else, losing all chances of gaining proper recognition. Dark Horse's edgier stuff would get one or two issues (and that's being generous) before the company would be bombarded with complaints and they would be forced to pull them for fear of losing major face.
These are dark times we live in, my friends.
>>26458355
Happy you agree with me senpai. Deadpool has always been an lol so randum superhero, though, how can you complain about his character being bastardized when he's being held true to his original image? Spouting memes has always been his MO.

It's actually a magazine cover for Weird Trips, which only ran for two issues. It was about bizarre news and weird events. If you want a comic book about serial killers, I highly recommend My Friend Dahmer. Pic related, it's EXTREMELY dark but very well written and they make Dahmer into a pretty sympathetic character.
>>26458643
i've already read it. some anon posted it here a while back

H ey co bro. Im sorry your hobby has been just been dying a slow death in front of your eyes. But if i could give you a bit of perspective.
1)As long as people have the liberty to express themselves and have a desire to create the best, there will always be hope for a resurgence.
>Do you read any web comics?
2) times change and so does the zeitgeist. Print media has been made to cater o the audience. Comics are effective propaganda. They have to be, everything has to be. SJW's in middle school and high school can change their opinions. Most people move beyond their lolsoedgy faze by their late 20's. Have faith that things wont always be this way.

Where do i get comics? Serious question
What are the best recent comics?
Recently I've read like the first 150 chapters of Spiderman and X-Men, some Batman stuff like The Killing Joke and the one where they were stuck on Gotham, and a couple of New 52 stuff plus some smaller older runs
I love comics and manga, but I don't enjoy capeshit. Its really too bad that most people only think about superheros when they think about comic books, the medium has so much more to offer.
>>26459951
>tfw so many comics almost 500GB of comics
>so many unread issues ;_;
Bump this thread for the comics
I don't have the attention span to read anything longer than a short imageboard post. The art is nice though.
Anyone like Megg, Mogg, and Owl?
It almost makes me want to live in a comfy house with some stoner friends. Then I remember I'd always be Owl

There are some awesome indie comics, but Marvel and DC are dead to me. I'll stick with manga for now.

Mark of Cain. That's exactly what he's doing.
