>like discussing music, mostly metal
>all my "friends" are normies who never listened to a single album
>can't even discuss music outside of metal with them because i don't keep up with pop music
any fellow metal robots here? won't even bother to >inb4, i know metal fans are generally frowned upon but who cares right, just wanted to know if there are any metal bros here
I lol'd. The kind of person that would bother to make a thread like this probably doesn't know shit about music.
I used to be into metal. But then I noticed how fucking cringeworthy most bands are. The lyrics are pretty much always shit as well.
Still listening to that Ad Nauseam album though, it's alright
Metals pretty cool particularly the proggy/droney stuff.
I love songs which take a while to untangle, wading through a blur of noise to find patterns.
Sadly I wrecked my ears with ear buds during my give no fucks edgy phase ten years ago so can't hack the harsh sounds (tinnitus).
Mostly into softer Desert Rock and psychedelic jam now (there is a lot of overlap in style between these styles and metal imo) or atmospheric instrumental stuff or Shoegaze/dream pop.
Here are a few recs:
You don't actually like metal music. You like what you suppose the scene to be. You don't know anything about music, other than what it makes you "feel." Any person with an actual musical background can tell you that metal is objectively trash. Saying that a song makes you feel a certain way isn't musical analysis.
Also, even if we were to discuss the emotional aspect of metal music, it's all one-dimension MAD garbage.
>in order to enjoy this genre you should ignore a substential part of the song
Actually, I'm glad that I realized how stupid this genre is. Might also have something to do with the fact that I started getting into music theory and went full /MusicMonk/
Once you actually pull up the sheet music to pretty much any metal song, you slowly realize that >>26456619
>Listen to grind/slam metal
>Wear a few band shirts
>Grills always say "I really like Bring me the Horizon and Fallout boy !m!"
I'd rather just have normies who know nothing about it, then having normies who pretend they know about it.
Idc if people enjoy Beiber or Kanye, it's music, it's subjective, but when people come up to me, when i'm wearing a Gorerotted or Torture Killer shirt, and start talking about death/metal core, thats when it gets annoying.
I'm possibly in the minority, but I wouldn't go into a cancer research lab and talk about the cold I had last week. If you don't know about something, don't bring it up as a conversation.
Everytime someone asks me what i feel when listening to metal, i simply freezy and don't know what to answer. I actually feel nothing. Just keep looking for nice techniques to think "whoa that was a nice phrase" and that's it.
Not op, btw
>be living in a dorm
>go to kitchen to make myself a salmon sandwich
>normie female has invited her friend
>they both look ugly
>eating shitty fast food noodles that stink through all of the dorm
>brewing some sort of terible soup with all sorts of curry spices that don't even go together
>listening to some sort of shitty pop music
>LITERALLY all the words in those songs are "sex with me is amazing", "dirty whore, dirty whore I am a dirty whore", "bitch, bitch, whore, whore, fuck, fuck, slut, slut"
>tfw if I stayed in there for a few more minutes I would just puke on the floor and my ears would start to bleed
Now tell me how normies aren't cringey.
been into metal for a very very long time now. still can discuss non-metal music with people, cause in the end I like music, not metal. and when it comes to normies, it doesn't matter if it's metal, you won't be able to discuss any type of music, because they don't really like it
