People mostly confuse narcissism with confidence.

Confidence isn't feeling the need to shoot every one else down based off your own personal successes, or outweighing your self worth. People pretend like they see it this way, and then go about it the opposite way.

What confidence is though is the ability to have a firm understanding and secure approach to face new situations and fears with a cool head. Its to accept the consequences of your actions on a social and professional level, while accepting your wrongs and rights.

Never seen a successful person bash or gloat other people out of petty bait and disagreement, when criticized, questioned, and just generally antagonized in some form.

Granted, this is all within a limiter and there are certain expectations toppled with pretty shallow social standards people are held too. You wouldn't be perceived as confident for liking MLP.
