>six figure job
>own a car and have your own place
>have friends that you hang out with regularly
what went wrong? did I fell for the meme that it gets easier as you get older and richer? I feel worse than I ever did at any point in life because I feel like I reached all my goals yet still I'm still unhappy and dissatisfied.
how much money do you need? I honestly spend like 2k a month at most, rest is just piling up in my account. I lie to myself that I save it for a big vacation but I know I'll never go
Oy vey, you're just not trying hard enough, goy. Make more money and have more hedonistic sex and of course you'll be happy. It's the only way!
Maybe you need a change of scenery anon-san?
>live with parents
>health somewhat tanked
>content as fuck
Funny how these things go hey.
>tfw pay prostitutes extra just so you can cuddle with them
I feel like I should be happy with what I have though, it's how I was "programmed" yet I'm unhappier than ever
same i can't feel any happiness
this reality is a imitation a knock off of something greater
>also what do you do for a living?
air traffic controller. I actually really like it, it's exciting and beats sitting around in the office all day
>What do you want out of life/what seems missing?
I honestly don't know what I want. The most logical answer would be a gf but honestly I've been single my entire life so I think I'm used to it. I see people around me being happy, I guess that's what I want.
You'll probably actually feel better if you had less. Rich people are so fake, I don't think they're even capable of being happy. It honestly seems like they all just put on a charade of happiness by showing off what they can buy and never actually feel happy on the inside.
I'm not even religious, but I really like this Bible quote. Whether the kingdom of god is the christian idea of heaven or just being happy with your current life, I don't think it's easy for rich people to be truly content. Really the only benefit to having lots of money is to be extra hedonistic. Anyone capable of earning a lot of money most likely is capable of using too much of their brain to be content with such animalistic desires.
Because you place value on materialism. Give it all up and live free in the wild. Wake up every morning with the Earth as your home. Go where you want, when you want, hunt and eat without restrictions, explore etc.
I think a big problem people have these days is that they're looking for "happiness" as an emotion, rather than a state of being content. Every emotion comes and goes, but truly being content with yourself lasts a lifetime.
they do in Spain
I've never been a religious person in my life, I wasn't raised that way to begin with. It honestly all seems ridiculous to me but maybe you are right, I should be less hedonistic.
It's difficult to leave everything behind, disappoint your family...
true, but there is a sort of neutral state of well being that most people have, decorated with moments of suffering and happiness.
For some people this default state is mostly sadness, which is not normal and definitely makes them unhappy
Like I said, I'm not religious myself either. I don't think you need a doctrine to tell you how to live, but yeah, hedonism is a quite a shitty way to live. At best you get short bursts of bliss, then long term pits of despair.
>air traffic controller
sounds really stressful.
How'd you get started? Did you have to take a certain course to get certified or were you just like "hey I'll do it" and they trained you up?
if you really need an advice: here is the one you need.
You need a challenge for your life. And then another one. And another one. Until you die. Thats it, everything that does not grow, dies.
Just set yourself a challenge and go for it, it will make you feel alive (if you really follow it). Fuck happiness, feeling alive is the only way, trust me.
Explain to them that HAPPINESS is more important than anything else, and that is not a selfish thing to say. It is the one thing that keeps us from becoming an hero. The first humans weren't born into materialism and a system that imprisons them. They were truely free, and everybody today could be too. It is not mandatory to adhere to modern day societal norms, it is just a choice that everyone decides to make because it is ingrained in their psyche.
