I have a fuck ton of old, oversized clothes I wear around the house. Outside, I just wear generic clothes, i.e. jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, etc. I don't wear autism shoes, though, just generic sneakers. Keep in mind, OP, that even if it would be fitting to make your protagonist look boring and generic, you have ever to make them look recognizable/pleasing to some degree or else it's just shifty deisgn.

So far I've pictured the character looking like a 20 something version of The Dude from Big Lebowski. Oversized open zipper hoody, baggy t-shirt with some holes in it, pajama pants, walmart sandals that strap over the heel. Long hair pulled into a loose ponytail and unkempt stubble.
