One of the leading theorists who inspired the 60s radicals - Marcuse - suggested that if society progressed far enough, into socialism, it would probably become quite sexually egalitarian, because if you couldn't separate people by wealth, then success wouldn't be attractive; if everyone's kids were cared for, women wouldn't have to pick their mates particularly carefully becayse the subconscious fear that their kids wouldn't pass on their genes would go away.

It's probably specious, but you can compare to bonobos; the females in that species mostly control society, but without much hierarchy (amongst the females or anywhere else). They do it by making sure that everyone has as much sex as they want. The males individually have the same vicious impulses that chimps do, but the females will band together to put down individual males such that they never build power - and "put down" often just means "fuck him til he forgets about it". Bonobo society is honestly pretty close to an economic and sexually egalitarian society - socialism, insofar as genes are wealth).

I assume you're talking about Stalinism or Bolshevik Communism, as they're the best examples of forcible removal of wealth.
Capitalism has weird ownership ideology and laws. At its base, it's all money. Money is the inviolate token of ownership. And there's only so much of it. So when small amounts of people hoard it, the things that is has the value to acquire (food, housing, medicine, education etc.) are unavailable to those who have little or none. Couple that with the fact that they have more than they, as single people, could possible ever use of any resource attained by money, and the fact that in effect, their money grants them ownership of quite a lot of things that people should have a right to, taking their wealth and spreading it is what needs to be done.
