I have a bachelor degree in criminology from a western school. Here in Taipei you do not need to have a degree to teach English. Just knowing English can get you a relatively good job with 20-35$/hr pay and some private teachings even being 60$/hr for the more revered teachers.

I teach under the table so I am here not even on a work visa. If you get a work visa you have to bind yourself to Taiwan's policy of being offered a job before visiting the country, which can get you lower pay and you will have to work longer hours.

I teach privately and make 25$/hr adjusted for US dollars. The pay is great because the cost of living here in Taipei is relatively low compared to most countries.

I teach by contract. I have a contact here who helps find work for me.

My housing is great. The cost of living here is cheap and what you get is pretty awesome. My rent is just over 1500/month but my area where I live is fucking awesome. You wouldn't believe this city. It's amazing.

No. There is almost no way you will get caught, plus they wouldn't deport you anyway because you will be there under a tourists visa. Taiwain's policies are pretty lax.

Nobody here gives a rats ass if you have a degree or not except for some private schools and universities where a masters degree would be required. Those are extremely revered jobs though. You will be making six figures working that gig for sure.

Your biggest asset will be the internet. Of course it depends on what you want to do. English teaching is in heavy demand in Taiwain, so people are willing to do things under the table and do anything necessary to have you. It's an extremely in demand job and there is an endless supply of work.

I took Chinese classes all throughout my stint in university. Living here teaches you the most though. I can read and speak rather fluently. Here in Taipei almost everyone speaks almost fluent English though.

Where do you live in Taipei OP? I went to Taiwan back in 2014 under a government contract back when they had all the anti-government riots. The gov put me up in a swank place like a block away from the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial in the Zhong Zhen district. I spent 8 months in Taiwan and had some of the best times ever. It's a really nice place to decompress and unwind for a few months, though I defiantly wouldn't recommend spending more than a year there to any anons in the thread. Sadly, Taiwan is a dying country even with the independence party winning the most recent election. There's an air of desperation in Taiwan with most people trying to get out since there really isn't any future there. This is doubly true for any robots living there with a residency permit. Still though, GOAT place to crash if you're moderately resourceful. Grills aren't as attractive as some other places in Asia, but defiantly top tier. It's the comfiest city in Asia by far (aside from the driving but that's a shit fest all across Asia).

Nobody's perfect desu. I try my best to keep to the core tenants of the Bible, more specifically the new testament. I mainly focus on the new creed that Jesus brought to us, and the main tenants he taught. I'm not defending pre-marital sex, but I think on the scale of things it's not a huge component of what Christianity is about. Remember that there was a time when all Christians HAD to be circumcised to worship in church. But Paul (I believe rightly) argued with the Church in Judea and pushed that while many of these older traditions and commandments were important, the thing that all Christians had to agree on was that no one is perfect or saved through their own actions or inactions, but that all people are saved only by the grace of God and Christ who died on the cross. That's not to say that we can do whatever we want since were already saved, but I believe that being Christian revolves around a core set of principles that Jesus preached, and while there are smaller (but still important) rules such as prohibiting per-marital sex, I think these are more guides on how to live life than exclusionary rules. Remember how in Corinthians Paul gives guide lines to marriage saying how it is better to be celebrate than married, but how being married is still fine. He's talks in depth Corinthians about how many of these rules aren't so much strict commandments as they are guidelines God has given us to live a better life with him. Remember that Jesus himself was hated for healing on the Sabbath, the Jewish elite hated him because they saw him as breaking the law given to them by Moses. There's more to being a Christian than following a series of small rules. That being said, I never have sex with people to use them or abuse them. Every time I have sex with a girl its always after I feel I've formed an appropriate connection with them and that there is an exchange of more than just sex from that relationship, that there is also some emotional development.

Look at the difference between Catholicism vs Orthodox vs Baptist vs other denominations. I feel a serious sense of Deja Vu from this conversation, not sure why. But yeah I started in the Army as an 11B in the 75th Ranger Regiment and stayed there for a while before going onto do some other cool stuff. Got out 3 years ago and worked in the private sector as a security contractor since then. Bulking is important for most SOF pipelines, but don't over do it. You'll lose a lot of gains due to the fact that you won't be lifting and won't always get steady meals and sleep despite having an extremely active schedule. Most important things to work on are Legs, back, and core for the rucks. For NSW I'd imagine chest will also take on a greater role because you'll be swimming more. When my bro went through BUDs though he said a lot of the big guys dropped due to not surviving some of the water treading challenges. It's a bit different depending on your SOF pipeline. For me I went OSUT -> Airborne -> RASP -> spent some time in Regiment -> Ranger School. That's the standard path for Op. 40 kiddies. So in Ranger School a lot of guys lose tons of weight since you get like 1000 calories and 3-4 hours of sleep (if you're lucky) day and have some of the toughest physical exertion of any school. So I always recommend guys going in for Op. 40 contracts to have some extra weight, but not so much it slows them down in their runs.

When I was in Taiwan I worked with a guy from ST3, good friend. The community is tight as a dime and if you make it you'll be part of something different from every other organization in the world. Best of luck to you m8.

I'm conditioning myself by rucking 30+ on my own time and took a few land nav course at REI so i don't completely fuck up. The thing I'm worried about most is getting injured during the pipeline. Rangers start with Secret clearance, not TS. There's a pretty big different in time it takes. When I ended up going and applying for my TS I remember it took something like 10 months.

Oh yeah, most of Ranger training happens in house. RASP is just a holding place for a bunch of babies who haven't gotten their shit slapped by their TL yet. My oldest brother was an 18B when I went in, he had started in the 75th and then went on to eventually be a team daddy inna ODA. My 2nd oldest bro was NSW. So I had good stories from both. In the end, I felt like the Army had better opportunities for a more diverse skill set and better deployment opportunity. By the time I left the Army I had the opportunity to do a lot of schools I wouldn't have been able to do as a SEAL, I also got to go on some seriously crazy ops. Another big thing that played into my decision was I that I knew 100% I wanted to be SOF. I really didn't want to gamble on any branch where an injury would mean becoming a total POG. I trusted my own abilities but I was worried about the very real possibility of being injured during training. When I was in Airborne I came extremely close to dying due to a freak accident and ended up getting a nasty injury (thankfully it did not prevent me from moving forward). But if that injury had gimped me, I still would have been able to serve in combat arms and re-apply for a spot in RASP latter. If something goes wrong and you get fucked up in the SEAL pipeline or an AFSOC pipeline, be prepared to be a welder or technician or some shit.

Anyways, everyone in the community is proud of their speshul snowflake team. Every unit has its pros and cons and likes to shit on the other units. Chose the one you think you'd best fit with and that you have the best chance of success with, and then work your ass off to give yourself a shot.
