The current working theory is that in fetal development you get two hormone exposures and the first one develops your brain and its gender. Then you get another hormone exposure which develops the rest of your body.

Why this happens nobody knows.

IE
An FTM is a boy brain just like your brain but it got a second dose of the female hormone so it grew a girl's body while the brain is just like yours. An MTF is just the reverse of that.

I would think the argument could possibly be that maybe we should be considered a 3rd sex. Where our brain developed from our primary hormone and then was slightly effected by the secondary hormone. Resulting in a feminized male brain or a masculinized female brain. Making us physical different from both male and female sex.

It needs to be researched more so we know the truth.
