Why do you watch anime?
I watch anime because I have no friends!
1. It's the only thing that makes me feel genuine happiness
2. It's the only thing that makes me feel genuine sadness
3. To pass the time in between sleep because it is painful to be alive
>only cry and smile while watching anime/reading manga
I always feel emotionless and anime/manga is the only thing which still can give me reactions, I hate myself
It's fun, comfy, exciting. Has some genres and tropes movies can't have.
Originally watched some with a few friends, was just a bonding kind of thing I guess.
Then I started getting into the cutesy anime suchas Oreimo and the likes because it used to cheer me up even the tiniest bit before I had to go out to work.
Now i'm just a full on degenerate. Though currently watching Railgun/Hajime, both are pretty good.
I haven't watched new anime in like five years (I'm 30).
I used to watch constantly, starting at age 12 or 13 renting VHS from a comic shop. When I was able to start DLing fan subs I would watch first ep of every new series each season, then winnow down.
I had no social life then and don't really now either. I don't know what changed - just find it really boring now. Maybe the shows stopped being interesting? I have other solitary hobbies now.
I watch anime from when I was a kid even if it's shitty. Then I can pretend it's still the 90's for a little while.
Also ditto to the people who said they just watch it to distract themselves from how terrible being alive is.
