I'm a woman that's been here since 2006 and /r9k/ since 2008 so I could technically provide light on both of these queries but I don't believe that women "have" gone to shit, I believe that as a result of the internet becoming more ingrained in our social culture all of us are being exposed to a myriad of information, visual or otherwise, that we wouldn't have previously seen.
The internet back in 2006 was less "YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT THIS DUMB BITCH HAD DONE TO HER FACE" and more "20 pictures of cats that will brighten up your day" and weird niche sites for pictures of supposed ghosts and shit.

Basically clickbait, internet pornography and social media is ruining people, especially the generation below us born into the 00's who have grown up into an era where they have never not know the internet.

It's like when people talk about how refined and respectful the celebrities and film stars of the 1920's through to the 50's were compared to today's "debauched" celebrity but they weren't, you had celebrities having affairs with presidents, drugs were fucking EVERYWHERE, Monroe herself had something like 6-7 abortions in her lifetime.

It's not that things were better "in the old days", it's that you weren't getting to hear or see most of the bad shit.

I don't know about you but does anything feel like time is going faster than it should? I don't know if that's the normal progression but now thanks to shit like social media I feel like we're getting things faster and quicker, then tossing whatever is popular in favour of the next fad because everyone is now too ADHD stricken.
