Just rough housing estates (neighborhoods) really, the ones where literally everyone in them doesn't work but gets a free house from the government and free money to waste. You get knackers (travellers, pikeys chavs etc.) in spots but they can usually be avoided.

Brits I've met are fine. Young ones tend to drink a lot but the older ones are more chilled out.

Much better than Americans I've met in my travels, they were usually unable to make or take any sort of joke and had their heads way up their own ass.
