What a drink for a highly sophisticated gentleman?
I'd have to say the White Russian. The bar near my college doesn't have it. FML
>The bar near my college doesn't have it
While I prefer to drink vodka neat, try and replace it with a coffee rum or plain coffee. You really shouldn't be able to taste the difference. Also, if you get a chance, try it with Van Gogh vodka. It's absolutely delicious.
Oh boy, it's the daily "I'm a big boy that enjoys big boy drinks" thread.
>they don't have kahlua
then what the hell do they have, anon
When I was a kid I didn't know how cocktails worked, so I just mixed random alcoholic drinks together without caring what I was doing
I ended up creating a drink which consisted of 4 shots of lager and 3 of vodka. I had two of them and spent the next few hours literally pissing out of my mouth
>work at student bar
>someone shuffles in, hunched over, hoodie up
>could be a thief so put hand over silent alarm
>oh no it's just an autist
>"h-hi can I have a *mumble mumble*"
>ask him to speak up
>"c-c-can I have WHITE RUSSIAN!!"
>screams down my ear
>jeez ok kid
>don't actually know how to make a white russian
>vodka, coffee liquer and cream apparently
>tell him we don't have kahlua
>"YOU DON'T HAVE WHITE RUSSIAN?"
>no we don't have kahlua, is that aight if I use a different coffee liquer
>"OH OK B-BYE"
>spaghettis away like a mysterious pasta salesman
>left like wtf
Supposedly the three requisite "gentleman" cocktails are:
>old fashioned (I love this one)
>manhattan (this one really depends on the quality of the vermouth...the one my favorite sports bar makes is much better than the one i make at home)
>gin gimlet (haven't tried this one yet, since I don't have any gin in the house)
I only really use vodka with grapefruit, here's the recipe I use:
>highly sophisticated drink
It really depends.
Everyone here will say old fashioned because of mad men.
I don't really care for old fashioned's, I like manhattans and rusty nails the best.
If its hot out and its day time I like mint juleps and salty dogs.
Different bars make different drinks better or worse. Ask the bartender what he recommends or likes to make etc. If you're at a bar where a mixed drink is when they pour the beer into a mug for you then just get a beer and a shot.
This brings back memories.
>be me in uni
>be convinced by my only friend to go to the student bar
>agree to meet him there
>the place is fully packed with Stacies and Chads
>already feeling uneasy but decide to queue anyway
>get to my turn
>"$10 entry fee pls"
>I literally stammered "w-wut?"
>didn't have any money on me because I wasn't going to drink
>make up some execuse that I needed to meet someone
>get weird looks from everyone in queue
>tried to call friend while outside
>walked back home because I'm saving money
>What a drink for a highly sophisticated gentleman?
Stop right there.
Use a different coffee liquor then, like Tia Maria.
Someone who likes them? Dickhead.
