I'm going to sell all of my things as soon as possible and leave my parent's house and just start wandering. I don't have a car, live in America, have $4000 in the bank (I'll have $6,000 if I sell everything but my guitar), and just dropped out of college. I have nothing to live for and figure this is better than killing myself, plus I'll have the chance to see some things and have some experiences. Maybe I'll find work somewhere.

Has anyone done this kind of thing before? I plan on hitchhiking starting from Washington state. I eventually want to leave the country and see the world as well.

I should note that I have no friends, no gf and no criminal record.

yes i've hitched quite a bit
hitching is great, go for it man

I plan to go on a hitching trip once it warms up. You will meet so many amazing people, you will also have some super miserable experiences that you look back on and smile.

fuck yea dude, i was stranded in fruita colorado, stuck in line behind 3 other hitching groups. They claimed they were there for days.
Me and my brother went over to the gas station and were staring at our map when a fat lady came up and asked us what we were doing. We explained we were stranded and trying to get to utah. Turns out she was going to utah the next day. She took us home cooked us steaks gave us beds to sleep in and then drove us to utah the next day.
Thanks misty

I got so many stories dude but i don't feel like typing them all out. I aint a wrier.

It sounds cliche and normie-esque but I really do like some of everything. Right now I like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9L4q-0Pi4E

That only happens in movies. That sounds like American Beauty. You won't do it, either.

>crab mentality

OP you can do it but I'd honestly just buy a car if I were you and go on a road trip.

Not a bad idea but here's a better one:

Drop out of college, take that money and enroll yourself in a CDL class A program. They run between 3k and 5k and last about a month before you take your test.

Once you've passed, go work for an OTR company. They'll take anyone as long as they have a CDL A because every company is in desperate need of drivers.

They'll love you since you require no home time and can basically be sent cross country.

You get to live in your sleepe which you can put a tv/computer/have an Internet connection in.

You'll have very little interaction with anybody - only when you drop off/pick up a load will you have to talk to one or two people for a couple minutes.

You'll get to see the country and basically get paid to wander about. There's no physical work if you don't drive a flatbed.

On top of it all if you're out running 9 or 10 months out of the year you will easily clear 100k (probably more like 120k depending on the company) so you can retire to a NEET like life early on

Not a bad idea anon. The company I worked for (beverage distributor) for 6 months offers CDL training for free for employees, I believe.

Why so much hate on hitchiking.

Anon its for the experience. You will meet so many crazy, cool, and kind people. It will break you out your self loathing and actually give you a drive to help others because of the help you've received.
Or maybe you're just an asshole and you won't appreciate anything and will go back to being a neet and wanting to kill your self.

They'd probably make you sign a contract to work for them for a year or two of its free - and if it's a local bev job it usually means a lot of work (taking product into places).

But it is free and after the contract period is over you can leave

Mormons everybody!

Misty wasn't a Mormon, but I met some out there and they were great. Super nice people. So what if their religion is a little odd.

Some places require a visa, but if you have no problem sleeping outside, or in a hostel you'll save lots of money
