On topic though, Red Orchestra 2 has a nice community. Find a server with an active teamspeak or at least commanders and it's a really good time.
CSGO as some have said can be good.
DayZ is fucking awful don't play sperg games if you want friends.
Arma 3 also has some really good communities.

A mount and blade napolenoic wars regiment is great.

Also Garry's Mod roleplay is good for talking to people, but most of the people who play it are 11 year olds or retarded 15 year olds.

I like rust on smaller servers. Ones without tp. Find enough bps, play with a friend or two if you have them, if not by yourself is fine, just takes longer. Be smart, have lots of hidden storage bases everywhere, in a few days I'll play with you. Befriend the people who get picked on, help them out with resources. Make sure your bases have a symbol on them so your allies know not to attack you.once you get good on a server, branch out. Give other semi good players resources, bps, be kind to everyone. Never go in direct paths to people, always have a friend watching over you when you trade, have another waiting at their base with c4 if they jump you, this is why you don't want a tp server. Explore, learn, trade, make friends, make enemies. The first few days on a server you don't want to talk more than once a day, if you do you'll get the reputation of being an annoying cunt.

Try old/small games where you have to manually pick a game/server from a public list. When I played StarCraft and WarCraft 3, vidya gaming was a lot more personal. You'd find regulars playing/hosting the maps you enjoyed and added them to your friends list at some point.

Automatic matchmaking has ruined a big social aspect of gaming.
