Take the photo with the cam a bit up, find an good angle and an good expression, also taking various pictures can help to choose the best one, also don't use lots of photos from the same place as it would be strange for them when seeing it.

You're brain gets so disturbed that it considers it ugly/deformed. The less symmetrical your face, the more this will happen. It doesn't make sense for it to be ugly because they are literally the same features.

You need a proper camera and lighting, as well as angle/distance to get a good picture.

There's a reason people use 50,000$ cameras and tons of lights and props for photoshoots and not just some shithead iphone camera.
