In an ideal world yeah our identities would come from what we have accomplished, but that's not how the real world works. Kids need some kind of foundation to build on, because they literally haven't got any actions or accomplishments to base their identity on.

And yes the religion of our ancestors is important because it forms the basis of our culture, even if you're not religious its important to learn about it. But now we have this pluralistic multicultural bullshit where we don't wish to presume that our culture is better than anyone else's, so we don't really teach it anymore, or at least we don't emphasize that it should be important.

This problem has been going on for a while, and something always comes along to fill that vacuum. The last generation had that gap filled by punk rock and other such shit, the next generation will fill it with radical Islam.

Also I don't give a shit about race, I care about culture and ideas.
