I wanted to play in an orchestra. My parents and music teacher were all supportive of the idea as well. At the last second (in final year of school) I got cold feet on the idea. I thought it was too risky and I was also growing increasingly concerned about the environment and environmental impact of human activities. So I scrapped my muscial idea and studied environmental science. Only problem was, there's no jobs saving the environment. So now I've got no relevant job and no chance to change over to an orchestral job because I'm too busy working minimum wage hours.
>>25599534 I never really wanted to do anything There was a huge spraypainted message right outside the first place I lived at in big black 10 foot lettering that said WORK KILLS The proto NEETposter got me early I'm in education now, will become NEET by next summer
>What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? i wanted to be a girl and I wanted to be an astrophysicist >What are you now? substance abusing high school dropout >What do you want to be in the future? shemale pornstar, professional poker player,
I wanted to work with robots Couldn't get good grades enough to get into the uni I wanted for mechatronics Learned that mechatronics give no jobs in my shithole country (Brazil) I am too much of a lazy coward to try and study to get into uni again and move away from here Settled for civil engineering in a shitty uni instead Now I dream of being a pianist and I can't even get the determination to practice 3 hours a day
>>25599534 >What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? Actually... I never knew... I wanted to be kinda of important or renowned... like a pokemon master trainer or some autist shit i had in mind at that time >What are you now? An art school procrastinator >What do you want to be in the future? I wouldn't mind doing comics but i suck at drawing and i lost my imagination talent since i started to browse 4chan...
>A really successful doctor >half way through college discover you cant pass calc 1 and gen chem2 with only a C. You wonder if its because you didnt try hard enough, but you realize you weren't happy studying what you were. You were in it for the prestigue >try to be a nursing student for practioner >you can only get a C in A&P II >at this point you were tired of your shitty tier 2 college, and accept since your the only one paying for college that you just hope for a good degree with a comfortable 75k salary or higher. >now 20 took a semester off, got a job at retail, they let me come back now during breaks to work so that's nice. > the plan is to get a graduate degree in accounting and be a CPA. >hope to get a family and travel like I never could. >hope that I find a passion because too dumb for pre med but too smart to do any kind of liberal art degree
>>25599630 I can kind of relate. >really enjoyed playing trumpet >really contemplated the idea of playing in an orchestra. >however realized that classical music is a dying thing >didn't want to teach highschool because I know how highschool kids for the most part treat band class, it was too risky to bet all of my marbles on a college professor. >so I chose a more realistic major because I didnt want to be a poor teacher
What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? >astronomer /dudes that looks at stars through telescopes What are you now? >semi-NEET got a part time job but hours got cut, so probably gotta get another What do you want to be in the future? >still want to be astronomer or something with space. Or computer engineering or some type of engineering. >18 >might say fuck it and go military. Or do a trade help me
>Originally thought I wanted to be a school administrator/principal. Eventually decided I hated school and other school kids due to massive amounts of bullying. >form shitty garage band in middle school. decide music could be a career path. >get drunk and almost get arrested due to vandalism streak. realize my friends act more destructive when i'm there, leave band to save my own skin and hope it benefits them. >still play guitar/bass/uke alone as a hobby >in HS played trumpet, switched to euphonium because I couldn't play high >now frehsman in uni, got some academic and marching band scholarships, a year of dci, and auditioning for another. >currently want to be some kind of lawyer. >slowly realizing nothing in my life makes me happy, melancholy at best. >realizing that its my own poisonous mentality/personality that drives my family/friends/girlfriend crazy and that I should probably just leave like I did before and make the world a better place by not being here.
>>25604498 holy shit bro you are literally me. Except I'm still at that stage where I gave up on med and am starting a shitty tier 2 college. How are you 20 though? Are you happy? Have you met any potential waifus?

>>25599534 I never really had a clear idea but always answered astronaut because it was one of the things I'd like to do, but it's not really my Dream with capital D.
An incredibly shitty student, I've passed exactly 10 classes in over 5 years of college. If, IF I don't just off myself or otherwise ruin my academic career further I can look forward to 2+ years to finally get my engineering degree. I'll be 26 then, God fucking help me.
I guess I'd still like to be an astronaut but I'm not even an american so my chances are basically zero but for some reason I don't give up, I've convinced myself my life has some weird kind of narrative (my childhood was pretty promising actually) and that no matter what it simply cannot end badly, I understand this is just a defense mechanism but I can't help it. Realistically I hope to be a decent engineer and eventually start my own company so I don't have to be a wagecuck all my life.
>>25599534 Gene Engineer doing unethical experiments for the good of mankind (too many scifi at a young age). Chemical Engineer working with life science folks to get genotyping techniques working and find biochemical solutions to disease pathogenesis. Gene Engineer doing unethical experiments for selfish purposes (naturally, cat girls are a priority).
>>25599534 >I wanted to one day become POTUS and conquer the world, making every country a part of the United States. >A NEET not sure where to go (probably law school) >Either a political campaign manager (I lack the charisma necessary/am too ugly to run for office) running a political consulting firm that can set up an efficient operation for even an average candidate that has a decently high chance of success or a gun runner who supplies arms to smaller entities who are fighting America's enemies. >In the near future I want to join the military as an officer, go to a good law school, become a polyglot (already fluent in 3 languages), and get a job for some random political campaign or a gubment agency that's involved in either intelligence or weapons.
>What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? astronomer/planetary scientist >What are you now? oceanographic engineer. job pretty much amounts to data entry >What do you want to be in the future? dead, or doing volunteer work somewhere. long gave up any aspirations of working for NASA after exposure working in the government with it and other organizations. Endless bureaucracy and so ingrained in procedure and standards that nothing gets done. University/small lab research appeals to me, but I doubt I can get involved with it at this point due to relatively crappy grades in college.
>>25599534 I didn't want to be anything When I turned 18 I realized I wanted to be into motorsports like F1 and WRC I practiced on go karts and in my car whenever I could constantly for a long time Then I realized this dream was gone and I would never accomplish it because you have to have a rich daddy and start go kart racing at 6 to have a chance So I went to college and studied history as my pre grad school degree and graduated early Then I got my O.D Now I'm an unemployed NEET loser with debt from grad school in a 20 year old vaguely sporty manual car
>>25599534 >What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? Marine Biologist >What are you now? College student studying Optics and Photonics >What do you want to be in the future? Something easy and fun I'm smart and do extremely well in school, but I fucking hate it. The repetition and anxiousness of going to class, taking major tests, and having to do all these clubs and what not just so I can stay competitive bores me. I've seriously lost my love of learning.
>>25599534 >What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? Some sort of animal researcher I guess. Quit that dream when I was 8 when I realized the amount of studying required. No new dreams since. >What are you now? Student, dropped out of three different schools. In two years the government can't force me to seek education if unemployed anymore, so I'm trying to find a subject I'd have even a passing interest in since this is probably my last chance. >What do you want to be in the future? Nothing
>wanted to be A physics researcher >am A 6th year Computer Engineering student because I haven't done shit the last 3 semesters >going to be A CS/physics high school teacher working on personal projects to make use of all the Software Engineering shit I know
>What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? >Kid A video game developer I always wanted to make my own game, since I loved playing them myself >Teenager Cartoon Animator I kinda just grew out of wanting to make videogames, to wanting to make cartoons. Then I animated my own cartoon scene, and it was boring. So I dropped the idea.
>What are you now? A warehouse worker. Definitely not going to keep this job for more then a year >What do you want to be in the future? I sometimes think about being a police officer, but it goes away after I think of the dangers of that job. I also think about being an accountant. So pretty much random things come to mind.
>>25599534 >What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? I wanted to work in software programming What are you now? I work in security What do you want to be in the future? Still security, best choice i ever made, i do jack shit all day and make more than enough for me and my cat
>What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? I wanted to work in the astronomy field, I thought the Universe was pretty interesting, still kind of do. >What are you now ? An ugly, manlet, alcoholic, KV, mediocre college student in the economy field ready to drop out at any moment. >What do you want to be in the future ? A guy with a loving girl that tells him: "Everything is gonna be fine, Anon, just stop dramatizing, it's not that bad there is hope for you" >BONUS: what will you become ? An opiate addict, of course. Living the robot dream.
>>25599534 >What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? An engineer like Dilbert. >What are you now? My main job is as a Navy reservist, I'm hopeful about getting a second job so I can actually pay my rent consistently. >What do you want to be in the future? I want to do lots of hobby stuff and nickel and dime it for pocket money. Sewing partial fursuits, making video game stuff, maybe drawing for a patreon, that sort of stuff. But I'm shy and bad at drawing and don't own a sewing machine and only know how to use one engine, so it's slow going and I need a lot of training and capital before I can start revitalizing my online presence with any decent content.
>>25599534 >What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? Rockstar >What are you now? NEET of 2.5 years whose family is making him now go to university. supposed to go tomorrow and basically want to kill myself or run away. They want me to go for engineering or business. >>25599534 I wanted to be a tank crewman. I'm NEET now. I may as well just kill myself and be reborn in a different time period since the nefarious Jews were the victors of World War 2. I don't wish to have any part in this degenerative society.
>>25599534 >What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? no one. people ask me quite often this question and when i think about my past i realise i didnt even thought who i wanna be. i just lived the life as if my life was gonna end tomorrow or some shit.
1. in my teens (12-16), i wanted to be le pro cyber-gaymer in counter-strike or some shit. i know it sounds really cringy, but i thought that's a good fuckin job to be sitting all day, playing your fav vidya and probably get paid more than average worker 2. programmer. but im too dumb overall, especially in maths and absolute lazy sack of shit.
>What are you now? no one >What do you want to be in the future? 1. a PC specialist (no, no that one who just knows how to install antivirus and that's it) that really knows how to fix each issue in windows OS and fix PC components, to know how they work with each other, how to fix them and so on. sadly, that's pretty low paid job.
2. car mechanic. want to be that one guy who knows everything about cars and knows how to fix them properly by himself. do want to know how to tune your car - engine, transmission etc.
3. graphic designer. the one who works with software (photoshop) to make designs for ads, websites, software, apps, etc.
4. electronic music producer. i want to know how audio works (speakers, microphones, headphones, PC audio files, synthesizers) and able to master synthesizer, DAW to make masterpieces (atleast those that sound good to me). shit requires lots of theory, practice and even shitty easy electronic music requires some knowledge to produce something real high quality.
5. photographer and/or video maker. love nature scenery and cars. love seeing some person's great video filming packed together with great soundtrack or w/e

I changed it every year as a kid Now I want to be a musician, which I am currently. I'm pretty sure people like it, that makes me kind of proud. I'll probably keep doing this, though I have to sort out live shows at some point and I don't really know how I could play what I do live.

>>25607552 I'm 20 because I started college right out of highschool. Idk I'm hoping I can a good social experience at this new one during my last 2.5 years like I never could. I have too many family issues to honestly feel content or happy. I've somehow managed to hold on to a 2 year relationship with a now 18 year old Asian gf. Say what you want about Asians but for the most part they are pretty caring girls in terms of not being high maintenance like some white girls
>>25615955 I can't do math past calc 1, and even then I can barely do calc 1. So sciences and engineering are out. I tried programming and I couldn't understand that either. I tried chemistry and almost failed that too. I went to tutoring sessions, office hours, and study groups so people can't accuse me of not trying to actually understand and learn the material. the only reason I didn't completely fail my first year was because I had to resort to cheating on my finals.
I don't hate history, I actually think it's interesting. I just don't like how people keep putting it down as being useless. Once engineering and medicine are all over run by thousands of faggots there isn't going to be anyone left who reflects on past decisions in order to decide the best course for the future. Philosophy is going by the wayside and so is history. No one gives a shit because they think it all happened in the past. In reality is because of those past events that we are where we are now.
Honestly I think I should just go into teaching. I think I'd help me as a person and I think I could actually get kids to understand that there is more out there than the STEM meme.
>>25599534 >What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? Scientist >What are you now? jobless manchild with no any useful skills >What do you want to be in the future? Actor and Film Director okay that's just far fetch but i tend to day dream about it
>>25616100 >I tried programming and I couldn't understand that either. You just gotta stick with something. (Almost) nobody understands programming from the beginning. It's alien and cumbersome for everyone for the first months. It takes years before it really starts to make sense to you.
>>25599534 Wanted to be a neurosurgeon While in high school I met a neurosurgeon(because of mom) who was busy 24/7, said fuck that to it and now studying Petroleum Engineering Petroleum Engineer with a lot of cash(and wishing that they don't perfect solar energy in my lifetime)
>>25616100 damn, i keep reading how people just cant wrap their heads around calc 1 no matter how 'hard' they 'try'. I wonder what it is? not trying to humble brag but calc 1 was pretty simple to me and I am a terrible student.
STEM might be a meme but a liberal degree is a certified joke.
I agree history is great, im a huge history buff but good luck finding a job like that (in teaching), seriously -- no flame. its very competitive because nobody knows what else to do with the paper-weight degree.
If I were you I would drop out from uni and go to trade school as a machinist or welder and make some decent chunk of change, entirely by hand. Eventually you might take pride and even find passion in your work
Develope vidya Never got the money to buy a computer so gave up on that idea Currently unemployed and live with parents but I'm on the way to becoming a U.S marine. Say what you want about the marines or the U.S. military in general, the pay is good and I get good benefits like free college. After my 4 years of active duty I might make vidya ad a hobby, I also would like to pick up beekeeping.
Thanks for reading anon, I know it was a lot but I don't have anyone to talk to irl about my life plans and goals.
>What did you want to grow up to be as a kid? Rockstar >What are you now? Student >What do you want to be in the future? Realistically? Guitar teacher, music store worker, or dead. Thinking about getting a degree in classical guitar and jazz, and maybe minor in engineerinig
