Engineering ensures you a well paying job afterwards. Business ensures you a waiter job except for the extremely rare people who go in with all the contacts and jobs already set up and the degree is just a formality.

If you then happen to be an engineer with social skills you will probably not even end up working with engineering anyway.

I've read that if you're a good looking white guy with social skills, companies just put you in management even if you're not that great of an engineer.

Business major here, only go into business if you have the contacts.

Basically what >>25599192 said, everyone who gets a good job after the degree already had it before they started. A good friend of mine had a tonne of contacts through family and such, landed himself a great job and got a good one for me as well, the employer basically told me "yeah you get this degree and I'll give you the job".

People who don't have this kind of contact are wasting time, except for the rare cases of people who do go far with it, but that happens with every field.

Engineering is full of beta nerds, and pretty much all fields are being swarmed with people, not to mention most places just import Indians or Chinese who work for far less, so its becoming more and more useless thing to go into.
