Worked there one summer, night shift stocker.

It was pretty bad. Huge red flag real early: during orientation they made us watch some weird propaganda-like video talking about how bad unions were and how joining a union would make your job suck.

Your team leaders are all dead-eyed middle aged sad sacks who've never escaped retail and now are doomed to make $13/hr for the rest of their life. Your coworkers are all douchebag high school graduates.

Your store manager is a kool-aid drinker who calls nightly pep rallies to hype everyone up for an exciting night of improving Target's bottom line.

Basically it's shit. Get a real job or just go home, don't suffer through this. If you're working at night they work you to the bone.

Like any retail job, it is a literal hell that you will only endure if it's a literal choice between this and starvation.

If you have any other job prospects, seriously, anything that isn't working in the service industry, do it. Even digging ditches for 8 hours a day will get you /fit/, there is no benefit to retail aside from the fact that you're getting paid to do it

I have largely to opposite experience of this guy. Work as a stocker, but in the morning. Didn't get any kind of union propaganda, but I did get some spiel about how "inclusive" target is, but I assume that's bog-standard for every major company. My team lead is a cool guy who knows what he's doing, and spares us of most of the corporate bullshit. My co-workers are about 50% high school kids, but my target is next to high school, so that isn't surprising.

As for the work, at least at my store, all they ask you to do is your job. Stocking is kind of a bitch sometimes, but most of the time you can just put your brain on auto-pilot and space out. Very nice if you enjoy daydreaming.

Pros:
>Lots of free food
>Slightly above minimum wage starting pay
>The management usually doesn't suck
>They'll hire you even if you're a sad, referenceless piece of human shit, like me
>Do a good job and you can use it as a springboard to better paying warehouse/logistics work
>Very loose dress code
Cons:

>Employee discount kinda sucks
>Slightly above minimum wage pay
>The work can be exhausting, or easy. You don't get to pick though.

Cashiering there is literally slavery, and your pitlord slave masters are just losers who think just because they have a set of keys and tell people which lanes to stand in that they're somehow higher on the totem pole but only make 50 cents more than the people they boss around.
